Modal Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Is anyone else worried that 2021 might be the last year for this Harry Potter run? I only say that because it will be containing the last two movies. That’s also why I was asking about Lego theme sales yesterday - I’m hoping HP does well enough to justify a permanent-ish spot in Lego’s arsenal like Star Wars
bluedog1111 Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 I think the theme will end in 2022 so they can do the last year and fill in some holes.

LEGO HP will definitely continue until at least 2022 (the next FB movie) and will probably continue for awhile after that. I don't remember where exactly it was said but in 2018 they were already considering making HP an evergreen theme plus when developing the theme they had at least 50 set ideas. I don't think HP will ever have as many sets per year as something like Star Wars but it's safe to say it will probably get at least five or six sets per year for the foreseeable future. 2021 will be the end of an era in a way though because not only does it cover the final movies but it will probably be the last year which doesn't feature remakes of previous sets and minifigures (excluding a car side build) from the 2018+ run of the theme.

I certainly hope so, it’s the only other line I buy from excluding Lego Ideas/Creator Expert! Also, never thought I would make it to my birthday without an official reveal for Diagon Alley! Gonna celebrate today with Hogwarts Express :)
BrickBob Studpants Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Of course it doesn‘t show up in the top 5 list, how is a theme with 6-7 sets a year supposed to compete with themes that encompass 20+ yearly sets? Even if every HP set manages to outsell, say every single Ninjago set, the latter will still prevail just based on sheer set numbers alone Their metric is total sales, not relative sales. If it was the latter, HP might crack the top 5 easily, perhaps the top 3 even

Most of those themes have way more sets than Potter though, HP still being on that list says enough about how well it is / isn't doing

And although the shop's top windows are represented differently between parks with different colours, they are still in the same style as the bottom windows. Personally I would have liked the top windows to have the same sticker effect so that the panels look the same; the chosen design creates a disjointedness between levels and makes the top level look less quaint and more boxy. Then add to that the fact that WWW is missing a whole level and does not tower above the rest of the buildings and it makes QQS look even more inflated. I have to admit that I was really looking forward to WWW, but the missing level does make it look rather stunted. Like minifig prints, I’d say this boils down to price. For me, I’d rather see a level left out of WWW & get the current street we do get. Plus, all of the sets haven’t exactly been accurately sized. Not sure about their window decision though...

What would bother me is if we don’t get a Gringotts that towers over the street. Like I mentioned earlier, I think these buildings were designed to fit with each other back to back, that is Olivander’s/Scribbulus joining with F&B/FF and QQS connecting behind WWW. For this reason QQS has this awkward shape that I think is bothering a few people. It’s also probably why WWW isn’t as tall as it could be. Personally, as someone who doesn’t care about the open backs, I wish we took out the extra QQS floor and put it onto WWW, but either way I’m so excited!

bluedog1111 Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 For the countdown on through the bricks is it for the reveal or for the release?
mark1991t Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 According to several fanmedia its the reveal. The release should be the day after.

That's if it even shows up. Stayed up to purchase the Burrow day one online and it didn't become available for another 3 weeks. Lucky I didn't sit there refreshing til it came out! :-D Wish I had a LEGO store near me. Nearest one for me is a flight or 12 hour boat ride! :-/ Yeah I already made that mistake once when I took my time to the store when the falcon released. Didn't get it til 6 months later. As stupid as it sounds, I'm going to scope out the doors to the mall on Monday after work. Then once they open at 10am, I'm going to run as fast as I possibly can to the Lego store, even if I have to run over an old lady to get there, at least the door is on the same floor. Theres a closer one I looked at at Saks fifth avenue, but I don't think they open til 11, and they control their doors, the mall doesn't. I don't know, maybe I'll just chill and get it online so I don't have to worry. 37 minutes ago, mark1991t said: According to several fanmedia its the reveal. The release should be the day after. What would be crazy is if they did the reveal, said, "it will be announced in the next coming weeks," then at the very end, it gave the release date of 8/31/2020 instead of 9/1/2020 (hopefully this will not happen). It is for sure releasing this coming Tuesday (9/1/2020) correct? Has this been verified, or are we going with the leaker who said it was coming 9/1/2020??

MaxHeadroom Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 What time will the set release online? At 12:00 am Sept. 1 everywhere or does it depend on the time zone?
