I really don't want to get into the iconicity argument again but I can't see a Hogsmeade set at a higher pricepoint than 250 and even that's pushing it I think it could be realised at that price point. However, we’re probably getting ahead of ourselves a bit. If there will be a Hogsmeade D2C set, it’s not going to be released before autumn 2022, unless they unexpectedly change release patterns There’s plenty of other fish to fry before that
chris6507 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 (edited) Hogsmeade would sell like hotcakes though. As not only would you have the Harry Potter fans, but also all the Winter Village nuts! I have a friend that's not even into LEGO and she still buys all the Winter Village sets. It would be a double win for my wife as she is a Winter Village and Harry Potter nut! Finally got that sweet, sweet shipment e-mail! Edited September 10, 2020 by chris6507

I think it hard to predict what would sell in the lego but I would love a Hogsmeade set. They would fit in well with the winter village series and would be the first winter set ,that's not an advent calendar, for harry and probably be a good seller at christmas. Also my lego order has shipped, hopefully gets here tomorrow.
BacktoBricks Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Just a note in case anyone is interested. The picture for the AC makes the flame on the Goblet of Fire build look like it's a new trans clear with glitter flame, but it's actually just the trans blue glitter flame. Very misleading picture.

I put together another one of my micro sketches so show how it could look: The big building in the middle is the three broomsticks, the shops on the right are the sweet and joke shop, and the Hog’s head is the one on the far left. It would be an opportunity to get a new variant of Hagrid, being his dark brown beaver/moleskin coat, in addition to many ‘winter’ versions of the students. This could also be the set from which an AC pulls figures from in the same year. This looks amazing! The buildings will need several tall wonky chimneys, but I imagine that’s hard to realize in a microscale sketch. I can totally see a set like this costing less than Diagon Alley. Maybe $300 - $350. Throw in the Shrieking Shack as a separate $70 release with an exclusive werewolf Lupin minifig and I’m sold. I think most fans who have been to the Wizarding World at Universal Studios would definitely want this. And, as others have said, fans of the Christmas Village series. Who knows - maybe we will get two D2Cs in a row if Diagon Alley sells like hot cakes!
Willworkfortoys Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 I finally finished DA (sans stickers) and boy was it a great build. So many techniques I can see uses for in other themes and builds. Did anyone else notice any issues with quality or color? I feel like some of the pieces were more transparent than typical. I noticed light through the plastic on some dark red headlight bricks and through some of the new doors. It may have just been the light I was building with but the look and feel of a few pieces felt lower quality than usual. As an aside I also found a Hogwarts D2C set used for $250 locally and I'm hoping I'm making the right choice getting it despite its microscale nature. HP bias aside is it a good build or monotonous?

I don't know if it has always been that way or if I am just paying closer attention...

I'm usually not a fan of microscale and actually had DA on my wishlist instead of this set, but I'm definitely a fan now. The attention to detail... It's been on the dining table for a month and a half, and I never get away with that. The thing is gorgeous, absolutely stunning. (Plus the pink gelatinous cube has turned me off DA for the time being.) Things that could get boring, like the windows or the rocks, are improved by their varying of the design. If you're a stickler for accuracy, that helps keep you on your toes. (And if that doesn't do it, turn the instructions upside down while building. ) Anyway I enjoyed it far more than I ever thought I would, fwiw.

Maybe they are easing into it with a few parts.

It could also be just a batch issue, or a production adaptation to keep things moving as they relate to covid related shutdowns, or it could just be in my head as I'm usually building late in the day when my mind is all but fried. 1 hour ago, krimimimi said: Had a rotten summer and the family chipped in and treated me to this set to help make up for it. I had the same hesitations about the pink but it is better in person. I have been building differently to make things interesting, not rotating sets, etc. I just hope they put the stickers on well.
bluedog1111 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Just completed the burrow. It was a great build. Gets me excited for when Diagon Alley (finally) comes on the 15th.
lego_guyon02 Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 QQS' pink second floor doesn't look great in pictures but irl there's nothing wrong with it. If there's one thing to complain about when it comes to that part of the build it's how boring it was to build
TheRandomBlocker Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 Just picked up 2 CMF packs seen as my full set isn’t arriving until Saturday now (darn you work for making me miss my delivery ?), got Ginny and one of the twins (not actually sure which because the instructions don’t have names on ?, but it’s the one with the betting briefcase) and I honestly love them both, only issue I have is that my “minifigure display area” is currently taken up by a Hot Toys box so there’s no space lmao, god knows where I’m going to put all the figures when they arrive ?
YetiZombie Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 LEGO posted a fun little video for Diagon Alley on YouTube, in case anyone is interested: .
chrisincanada Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 My DA just got delivered in Canada, ordered at midnight on Sep 1 so just under a 9 day turn-around. Burrow also now showing 'In warehouse' as opposed to 'Backordered'.
Myprecious Posted September 10, 2020 Posted September 10, 2020 My DA is out for delivery finally. We shall see if it actually really gets here today. I ordered mine at about 9:30pm on the 31st. I’m in Canada.

I may be in the minority here but I am extremely glad that they stepped away from them

Usual crappy lego packing though, product was undamaged but it was luck. Box had 1 piece of tape holding the 2 top flaps together but it did not run down onto side of box so flaps opened a good 6-8 inches and clearly showed what was inside and allowed for a huge amount of movement. I am sure only the fact it is a big heavy item stopped it from breaking free.

I'd probably buy at least 20 of those if they sold them. While they wouldn’t do that with the hands, a People Pack would be fun. 14-15 students(or less for a cheaper price) with some room builds/furniture to go along with it. A Vanishing Cabinet would be awesome since we don’t have that yet. 2 hours ago, Guyon2002 said: QQS' pink second floor doesn't look great in pictures but irl there's nothing wrong with it. It makes the building look longer, even though it’s technically not.
