The books are one per house, including the heads of each house. I don't think they will make more of those you mentioned as those teachers are "minor" teachers compared with the 4 we are getting this winter (I mean teaching-wise) But if the books do well, I can see them making 7, one for each "real" book. Maybe a small diorama depicting an iconic scene of that book For instance, book 1 could be McGonagall and Dumbledore leaving baby Harry in Privet Drive Edited September 14, 2020 by Robert8
diagonalley Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 (edited) I'm changing my Quality Quidditch Supplies to medium dark flesh. Bricklink order sent. It stays a nice warm color that way and IMO looks the best based on the photos. Anyone else changing theirs? Edited September 14, 2020 by diagonalley
karrit Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 I really like the Idea that if the books do well we might see some others down the road. I was thinking we need a Divination one with Trelawney and how many different Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers have there been? A different one every year I believe and each was a major character for that year. The theme behind this group is the Houses & their heads but there is no reason not to expand on the general theme with other instructors. To me if a character/teacher appeared in the movie I wouldn't necessarily call them minor. If we expect a version of any of the named students there should be versions of all the instructors too.

It’s more or less just a bonus wave I think he’s pretty much just referring to Star Wars, which is something I think we’ll have to see before we really decide what to think, but it does sound pretty underwhelming. HP is getting a January wave for the first time so it’s much more exciting Huh, I’m actually looking forward to the 2021 Star Wars sets more than I have any Star Wars wave in a while. I’ve long held the opinion that the recent huge, bulky, expensive ships take up way too much space, so I’m thrilled to get an X-Wing and TIE on the smaller, cheaper side. Plus the rumoured Mandalorian set is probably going to be interesting. (Though it does suck that there won’t be any Clone Wars sets.) I’m looking forward to the books and not just for the minifigures; building furniture is one of my weak points as a MOCcer, so if these books contain a lot of pre-built furniture that I can use to populate the custom empty rooms in my Hogwarts AND house symbol parts and stuff then it’s perfect for me. I just really hope the Hufflepuff book contains at least one Hufflepuff uniform, I need more Hufflepuff students.
GoldenNinja3000 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 It’s interesting that we’re getting winter sets! These books sound like a great new concept, and I’m excited to see how they turn out. I’m expecting them to be more sophisticated versions of the Disney ones. The mosaic is also awesome, I adore the Art line and I can’t believe they’re making one for Harry Potter. I’m confused about what it is, though- can you build one house crest at once and they encourage you to buy 4 copies to combine into a large Hogwarts crest build, or is it just the Hogwarts crest? The first option makes the most sense to me since it follows the path of the other mosaics where LEGO wants you to buy multiples, but you’d end up with so many extra pieces in different colors for the different house crests- much more than the 800-900 leftover studs/tiles in the current sets. It’ll also be very expensive but I’d definitely save up and get 4 of them. 2021 is looking much more expensive than I had anticipated already. Has anyone in the US/Canada ordered their box of minifigures from Minifigure Maddness? I was charged €31 for VAT even though it’s being shipped to Canada and the VAT cost shouldn’t be applicable to me, but they told me it was for “duties and taxes”. Now that the item has been shipped, DHL is charging me a further $27 CAD for more duties and taxes. I don’t understand why I’m paying twice the tax- when I ordered the summer sets from BRICKshop.nl the VAT amount didn’t apply to me, so I’d like to know if anyone else is experiencing this issue as well!

Not me, seems rather premature when we don't know piece counts or images. It sounds like McGonagall may finally have a printed dress piece, I don't think she ever wears a cape with her witches hat, so I think that is what the 'cape' phrasing refers to. Snape sounds the same as ever, Sprout could just be the version we got in the CMF but with legs, or based on one of her other two costumes. Worn in CoS at the Welcome Feast, Quidditch Match, when Mrs Norris is found I think. Worn in DHII during the Battle of Hogwarts. I'm looking forward to getting Flitwick, someone mentioned before using Dwalin's beard with Filch's hair, but that wouldn't fit. It may fit with Ernie's hair from the Knight Bus, otherwise I think it may just be the beard and no hairpiece at all. For the students it's a shame we're not getting Ravenclaw and Slytherin Herbology gear, or Hufflepuff uniform. I reckon Justin and Padma are included, rather than Cedric and Cho. The rooms themselves sound sticker heavy, and like they are half class room and half dorm/common room.

It's nice to get an extra wave of Potter sets but to me these don't sound all that exciting, couple of interesting figures and that's it. And knowing exactly what these Potter sets contain and what the Jurassic and Marvel sets (as an example) are based on that's more than enough to decide what's more exciting, nothing premature about that.

lego_guyon02 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 (edited) So Stonewars just posted an article with their description of the book sets, both my german and Google's translation are pretty bad but this is what I could make out: - The books measure 16x10x6 studs - The covers are made from plates, one of which is a new 16x10 version with handles(?) on 1 side - Opening the book gives you a background for a display - Can't be combined with the other HP sets - Big Hogwarts crest on the front of each book, unknown wether it's a print or sticker (given it's on all 4 books I'd guess it's a print) - The Gryffindor book has gothic windows - With the art set you can only make 1 of the 4 house crests So that confirms that the books won't be using those awfull Disney Princess bookpieces, hope this will end up looking good! You have a small typo: the books measure 16x10x6 (not 16x16x6) Stonewars says Gryffindor book is dark orange. Slytherin Sand green, Hufflepuff dark tan and Ravenclaw a lighter blue (not sure which). These colours refer to the new 16x10 element with handle bars to attach the rest of the book cover.

Bugbot20082 Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 (edited) The ‘book’ sets sound interesting, definitely targeting the younger audience and girls by the sounds of it. I welcome the classroom accessories and furniture like bookcases and chalkboards :) I’m hopeful that the new Flitwick will be good, his PS/CS version was in my wish list CMF series 3 What is our estimated prospects of new moulds coming in these 4 book sets? Well we know we're getting at least that big plate mold but other than that I don't really see what would need a new mold for the build itself. We'll definetely get a recolor of the Monkie Kid headphone piece for the Herbology earmuffs but that's about it. I really don't see them giving us a new hat/hair combo for McGonagall or a new piece for Flitwick

Transfiguration/Gryfffindor - windows and paintings depicted with stickers. Potions/Slytherin - stickers to represent vaults and walls. Herbology/Hufflepuff - masonry and plants are also represented here by stickers. Charms/Ravenclaw - windows and wall paneling are shown here by stickers.
more awesomer Posted September 14, 2020 Posted September 14, 2020 So far, it sounds like the princess books are more 'pop-up' book while the future HP books are more 'back drop' to a mini scene. The initial idea that the HP books were going to be pop-up with two scenes sounded promising, but there is less and less that still supports this approach as more information becomes available.

There are only two printed elements in each one, one half of the book base and then the princess design on the cover. Some sets have extra printed elements like the sheet music in Ariel’s book, but all of the decoration around the sides and on the base of the book are (optional) stickers, which is definitely how I’m expecting these books to be.

Nope. Watch the video. In the Frozen set alone, you get: a large printed oval cover piece a printed lock plate 3x printed window shields a printed rug tile a printed painting of a ship tile the printed piano piece 2x printed decorative gold tiles and I’m probably missing a few. Yes, I’m sure there will be a sheet of optional stickers to decorate with and a few elements will have to be stickers, but LEGO is really good about printing essential pieces in the sets for their younger audience.

Well, it’s embarrassing that I own that set and forgot how many prints it had! It’s still 11 prints vs like 24 stickers, but it’s all just added detail. Regardless, I doubt the HP sets will have as many prints. They seem to be aimed for a slightly older audience if they’re $10 more expensive and contain actual minifigures. The storybook sets remind me of Juniors ones due to the large molded pieces and high price, and I don’t think the HP books will be quite the same. Edited September 14, 2020 by GoldenNinja3000

I mean the subjects really do fit as books duh ?, but this would be an opportunity to try something different. I’m thinking regular “square” sets with 3 walls and a ceiling so you could stack them on top of each other or connect the sides? 15 hours ago, doclord said: Nothing confirmed about a delay or anything, but the photographer's head in Diagon Alley is almost an exact match for Karkaroff.
