TOTDForever Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 guys look on the bright side, if this set doesn't have minifigs then it won't raise the price of the set (relatively speaking, I mean it is still a D2C after all)

At this point last year we saw the minifigs for the burtonmobile already, plus there is no reason why they wouldn't be leaked
hvader Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 I hope more Burton sets mean more Nolan sets... I missed Joker from Tumbler and I've been wanting him ever since...

Seasider Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 (edited) The important questions about the Batwing are does it have the wire cutters in the nose? It talks about the guns and rockets on the sticker sheet and I can see the flaps/air brakes on the pic of the model but what about the wire cutter? but more importantly it better come with a stand so it can be displayed vertically. if it’s any good I’ll buy this and the burton-mobile on a side note a batman wiki says the wingspan is 35ft. The sticker looks like it’s saying 21ft 4in Edited September 1, 2020 by Seasider

TheBatstan Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 (edited) And if this turns out to be another hit, what are the odds of Lego making a UCS Batskiboat in 2022 to celebrate Batman Returns's 30th, with minifigures of Batman in his updated Batsuit, Catwoman, and Penguin? The Pearson Posted September 1, 2020 Posted September 1, 2020 Has anyone heard anything on the status of the Fandome Supergirl giveaway?

I highly doubt it will come without any minifigures. There are no minifigures printed on the front or the back of the Batmobile guide. If the source wanted to show the whole set, he could have just opened the booklet. He or she is probably holding that back for later. Edited September 1, 2020 by BrickJohn

On 8/30/2020 at 3:10 PM, Lego-Freak said: Meh. I'm not sure they could do much they haven't already covered in the three sets the theatrical cut got I think that there is enough new material just in the trailer to warrant at least a few sets - Black Suit Superman, redesigned Steppenwolf, Darkseid, DeSaad (not to mention the possibility of a four-armed and full-visor/helmet version of Cyborg, as seen in concept art and (briefly) the early theatrical cut trailers). Moreover, the Snyder Cut will be roughly four hours long, and between the fact that only about ten percent of Snyder’s footage was used in the theatrical cut, and Snyder’s statement that he would rather destroy the movie than use anything that Whedon shot, it can safely be assumed that the film will be drastically different from the theatrical version. Furthermore, since it will be three (more likely four) years between the original JL sets and any hypothetical SC sets, LEGO would be able to update and improve upon the designs, as well as fill gaps left in the original line - An Amazonian vault set would be a better army-builder than the Atlantean one was (and could act as a soft tie-in with Wonder Woman 1984), new wedge and slope pieces can be used to better capture the angles of the Batmobile, the Outrider neck-bracket and ever-present Iron Man helmet could be used for Cyborg (provided that the helmet is not a Disney exclusive), Aquaman can get an accurate torso, etc. And, since the 2016/2017 Minifigs for Batman, the Flash, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and the Parademons can be reused for SC sets, LEGO would have more mould/print slots for new and redesigned characters. On 8/30/2020 at 3:10 PM, Lego-Freak said: the three sets the theatrical cut got, which apparently didn't sell all that well to begin with. There are a number of reasons why the 2017 JL sets would not have sold well - The film’s poor reception is one of them, but the sets themselves are not very good either. The Battle of Atlantis is sparse and flimsy (even at parts that are not intended to fall apart), as well as inaccurate (Parademons do not appear in this scene, Aquaman should be shirtless, Mera is absent). It seems to have been intended as a sort-of army-builder, but the Atlantean guards barely appear in the movie. The Flying Fox lacks detailing, play-features, and an interior. Moreover, the proportions are ‘off’, making the set look even blockier than its film counterpart. The Batmobile that is included is good, but a nearly-identical version was released only a year earlier at a more affordable price (and the JL-specific details can easily be modded onto the 2016 version). As for the Minifigs, Superman and Wonder Woman are reused from the BvS line (Superman is a downgrade from the BvS Batwing version, which has red boots) and Steppenwolf is a poor rendition of a bad design, thus making Cyborg the only desirable aspect of the set - And not worth $130 to get. The Knightcrawler is the best-designed of the three, but even it is not great - The design fails to capture the smooth, angled design seen in the film, and the legs lack the proper articulation for the model to actually crawl (it can only roll or pose). Additionally, at $50, the set needs another Minifig - Particularly since 76085 had four at $20. On 8/30/2020 at 3:10 PM, Lego-Freak said: And sets specifically based on a streaming-exclusive director's cut might be a bit too niche I disagree. First, LEGO has made sets based upon streaming-exclusive media before (The Mandalorian), so that does not seem to be a barrier. Second, if what has been said about the film is even mostly true, the Snyder Cut would be a different movie, not simply a longer version of an existing one. Third, the social media hype surrounding the Snyder Cut’s potential (and now confirmed) existence and release has made it mainstream enough that sets would definitely sell (See also: 501st Battle Pack).

I would really like Snyder cut sets with that being said

And regarding the niche-ness (?) of Snyder Cut sets: Sure, the Mandalorian also got sets, but it‘s Star Wars, so of course it did. We still don‘t know whether the Marvel shows will have sets based on them, and if they don‘t, Snyder Cut sets have even less of a chance. And no matter how different the mini-series will be, in its core it‘s still a new version of an existing film

Either way, there's more factors at play regarding The Mandalorian vs. Snyder Cut than "it's streaming".

Exactly. One is a new Star Wars show on an almost worldwide available streaming service while the other is a director’s cut of an existing movie on a currently US-exclusive competitor Apples and oranges Btw, still no news regarding the Batwing minifigs. Seems like the person in possession of the instruction booklet really likes to torture us

To be honest, I would rather have a UCS model of Penguin's rubber ducky car. I would buy anything directly based on Returns though, that was the first superhero movie I remember watching and I still love it to this day. I'm not sure if the Batwing would be a buy for me. I love the 1989 Batmobile, but the Batwing just isn't nearly as iconic or has a big enough role in the film to justify a $250-300 purchase out of me. Especially when there are so many other amazing D2Cs recently like the NES or Diagon Alley. To be honest, I'm surprised they're doing another Burton vehicle so soon after the first one. I would have assumed that next in line would be another UCS Batmobile, like the classic '66 car or maybe the one from B:TAS.
