benderisgreat Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) Wow this new Helicarrier is such a bad build! I expected a lot more after seeing praise from Falconfan , but it just doesn't look any good to me. Minifigs look good, but Modok is key to me. I like 2014 one way better tbh. As far as juniors Avengers government goes, I don't know what I expected, it look like something out of Juniors line. Hat the build but will probably buy it for new Hulk and Loki. Maybe even will be a to use pieces to improve normal Avengers tower coming late in the summer. Edited April 26, 2020 by benderisgreat
BrickBob Studpants Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I think the Helicarrier looks decent Modok‘s a bit on the blocky side though, compared to the last version. And good to see that Captain Marvel has a Mohawk after all! Seems to be a new piece, right?
ARC2149Nova Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 At first the helicarrier looked really off-putting to me, but on second consideration, I actually like it. Avengers Tower is clearly a 4+ set, for what that's worth But yeah, great figures (especially the amount we get), MODOK does nothing for me (not a fan of brick-built figures), but I might pick this one up.
Borex Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I think Modok is one of the only good things from that set :-s
BusterNut31 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I like the Helicarrier set. Its big with a lot of minifigs. what's not to like? Also how many times do we have to remind the more "forgetful" on here that its based on the Avengers game!?! People trying to change the design of it to fit more with the MCU design!?!? Will you EVER be pleased? Clearly the Helicarrier is massive so to translate that monster of a thing into a 100 dollar box set is going to be challenging and some people won't like it. but hey, here we are and it was made. For that I am grateful. No point looking at the +4 set as its not meant for someone over the age of 6 or 7. Nice cheaper way to get the Captain Marvel fig and Hulk. Also Black Widow has arm printing!?! How does the MCU black widow get shafted in this way!?! lol. Hope I can swap the arms. Looking at the giant mechs in the Monkie Kid sets and the new Ninjago summer sets, do you guys think we will get a giant Celestial in the upcoming Eternals sets since these sets are all designed at the same time and designers see what the other departments are doing? Looks like Modok uses the same arms as the Minion figs. 1 hour ago, Lego-Freak said: I think the Helicarrier looks decent Modok‘s a bit on the blocky side though, compared to the last version. mrcngrck Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 i dont believe how ugly it is... cool minifigs and madok tho
SEmrys Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) I really love that MODOK. Might try and grab it loose eventually. It's just so much better proportioned than the previous version IMO and a lot more comic accurate. As for the helicarrier build, I never expected much and I understand the everyone's frustration, but it does look like something I'd have a blast playing with if I were still a kid. lego_guyon02 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I honestly don't see any reasons to blame Falconfan for any disappointment. Sure he hyped up the set but it's still his opinion and opinions can differ, we should've known better and kept our expectations in check. I think this wave greatly improved on the figures but the builds are very lackluster, here are my thoughts anyways: 4+ Avengers Tower: for a 4+ set it's not bad, I personally don't like it but I'm obviously not the target audience. The prints and figures are nice but my god the price.... this set really is criminally overpriced. Helicarrier: after sitting on it for a few hours the Helicarrier has grown on me a little bit but I still don't like it. MODOK is better than the previous version but I just don't like the way he looks, I LOVE the new Widow and Rhodes, repeated figures are kinda nice so minifigure-wise this set is fantastic. The Helicarrier itself on the other hand just isn't good, it's basically a big rectangle with little wings! I honestly don't know what the designer was thinking when he was designing the rotors, improving them would definetely significantly improve the look of the set! I also don't like the big turret and quinjet, I'm getting used to it when it comes to marvel but they are a waste of pieces. Why is the back of the Carrier open? The price for what you get is good, but in the end it's just a great concept with a very poor execution. This will definetely be a skip for me but if the prices aren't too high I'll be sure to buy Black Widow and War Machine on Bricklink.
Legoman123 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Do we have any interior shots of the Helicarrier?

NXS7 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I think the Helicarrier would be so much better if the cannon and tiny Quinjet were removed, and I agree with how the back shouldn't be open. The biggest disappointment for me is how War Machine is still using a stud shooter on his back. It seems worse now it's sticking out so far away from his body. And while I can't see the new piece clearly, it doesn't look special (right now, before HD pics), it looks like a waste of a new piece

SuperGrover Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I think LEGO should have kept the captain marvel out of the juniors set. I get that it’s a cheaper way to get it now, but from a sales point of view they should’ve kept it just in the helicarrier seeing as It would probably be a major selling point.

On lower level he uses two printed 1x1 pieces with two trans-orange studs on a clip. Above his right arm he uses a stud shooter on a clip, and above the left one he uses three roller skate pieces stacked on another clip. He also uses Klaue's gun for his hand. Some people just assumed it's a new piece because we were told there would be a new one.

Same thoughts here. I think part of the problem here is people were expecting something looking like the UCS helicarrier for $130, and it's clearly not supposed to be that. It's definitely meant for children, but any kid would love this set. And the 4+ set is a 4+ set, if anyone was expecting literally anything from it, that's on them.

The_Fiery_Rooster Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I've given myself some time to really get what I feel about this set, but I'm still not sure about it... My biggest problem is how rectangular the body is. If they just had some inverted slopes on the bottom, or some curved panels on the sides, I would like the overall shape better. MODOK's face is too recessed into the build, the rectangular shape of the rest of the body compared to the cylinder head doesn't work and it's weird how the windscreen colors are inconsistent between the helicarrier and the small jet. However, I think some of the stranger design choices can be explained. The open space at the back looks to be prison cell for MODOK, it's big enough, and the technic beams are meant to be bars. The rotors are so high up because they can be pitched forwards and back, the front left rotor in the video is leaning slightly forwards. With all of the gears in the model as well, I hope there's some mechanism to move and rotate the rotors in unison, that would be impressive. I feel like I need some more pictures to really know what I think. What is the interior like? What can the model do? What's with all the yellow plates? I'm just not sure if I want this set yet.

THELEGOBATMAN Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Some people still think War Machine has a new gun piece. Wonder what their reaction will be like when they see HD pictures
Falconfan1414 Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 I built up the war machine armor using spare pieces. It looks good. I don’t see the complaints towards that. I also see now how based on certain photos it could look like a new piece
Agent Kallus Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 What are those yellow pieces? Sorry if this has already been answered but I looked back through the thread and didn't see anything.
