Posted January 2, 20205 yr (Updated version in the comments) --- Here's a different spin on the E-Wing. Not exactly proportional to the actual dimensions, but I wanted to build one that had clean lines while still being rigid. I wasn't able to accomplish that with plates, either the parts don't exist or I'm not creative enough. Either way, the fuselage is shorter and wider than the source material, the engines are integrated into the wings instead of suspended underneath, and a cavity has been added for a droid. The dorsal laser lifts to access the cockpit and landing gear folds flush with the hull. Cheers! BW Spoiler Spoiler Edited January 11, 20205 yr by Brick-Wombat
January 2, 20205 yr Nice build! I like the use of the wedges on the sides of the cockpit, the overall shape looks very clean I might add some more tiles on the wings though
January 2, 20205 yr It may not be entirely accurate, but I think it's a great MOC. The changes you've made for stability/swooshability seem reasonable, and the result is still a good looking ship that still fits into that universe nicely.
January 3, 20205 yr Author Thanks @Reaper and @deraven. Inevitably, I started tinkering again with the intent of elongating the nose and now I can't decide if it's an improvement or a regression. The below iteration is basically a stubbier version of TLG's X-Wing nose... which leaves me rather conflicted. The proportions are better, but it's much more blocky. =/ Spoiler Edited January 11, 20205 yr by Brick-Wombat
January 3, 20205 yr that's funny, i dont remember seeing this ship in any movie was in the second or the third trilogy ? with its shape i would picture more this kind of ship in Space : Above and Beyond rather than in Star Wars
January 3, 20205 yr Author @macaron35 It isn't in any of the movies. I'm not sure it's even in any of the shows. The ship was supposed to be the successor to the X-Wing, but at this point I don't know what's "canon" and what isn't. https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/E-wing_escort_starfighter Edited January 3, 20205 yr by Brick-Wombat

January 4, 20205 yr Sure - perhaps this was the prototype for the E-Wing that was then known to the greater galaxy?
January 4, 20205 yr I generally prefer the underslung engines on the official version, but I like the curviness of yours better, even if it doesn't look like it was manufactured by Incom.
January 11, 20205 yr Author I couldn't get over the chubster appearance of the original version, so I started from scratch... naturally. Still not super accurate, but the overall proportions are better. The most notable changes include: - Narrower fuselage - Engines suspended - Droid is enclosed - Color schene Spoiler Edited January 11, 20205 yr by Brick-Wombat
January 11, 20205 yr I like this more than the brickvault one. There's something about how you achieved the nose shape that nails the aesthetic of the ship. Edited January 11, 20205 yr by joebiwankenobi
January 13, 20205 yr I've never been a big fan of the E-wing but your takes on it look much better than the official Lego equivalent in Jek-14's Stealth Starfighter, and not just because of color scheme. And I think your original alternate takes on it are even more interesting than the more on-model version. deraven and JekPorkchops' suggestions of a prototype or Resistance-era improved version of the E-wing sound really appropriate, as it's obviously similar but also with its own unique differences.
January 13, 20205 yr Yup I like that update a lot - looks excellent and its a lot sleeker on this iteration - I'd happily have one of those in my collection - great job.
January 14, 20205 yr The wings look a tad too wide to my eye, but I certainly wouldn't mind buying an instruction manual for this.

Your design is incredible though! On 1/10/2020 at 11:11 PM, Brick-Wombat said: I couldn't get over the chubster appearance of the original version, so I started from scratch... naturally. I think you've got the best parts of your previous versions here, and the nose in particular is absolutely spectacular.
August 12, 20213 yr I really like this, and i thought i'd try to recreate it with a few alterations. What do you think?
