Posted May 7, 200816 yr Is this set on sale in North America?? I can't find it anywhere!! I'm gonna be in the north Chicago LEGO store on the weekend... is there a possibility that it will be in stock there?
May 8, 200816 yr Sadly, I doubt it. It still says only available in UK on S@H, along with the rest of the '08 castle sets. I've been wanting that set bad, too... Faramir
May 8, 200816 yr What set? ( A picture would help! ) This set: I also haven't found this set in Canada (though I haven't found any other new Castle sets) it may not be avaliable in North America , its a shame to I really wan't that set for a few wizards and pieces. Edited May 8, 200816 yr by MacK
May 8, 200816 yr Governor Sadly, I doubt it. It still says only available in UK on S@H, along with the rest of the '08 castle sets. I've been wanting that set bad, too... It was available in Australia and I've seen them on shelves. I went looking for them the other day and there were none left!
May 8, 200816 yr I think he's referring to 5614 called the Good Wizard (although I think he looks like Gandalf the Grey). The set appears on the LSAH US site under the Castle Theme page. It just shows that it's unavailable in "this country" meaning US. With it on the theme page though, it's just a matter of time before it becomes available in the US. The other new 2008 Castle sets also appear. Here's the link: Lego Castle Products Page EDIT: I see that Mack also responded with a picture before this was posted. I was looking for the link. In any case, it should be available in the US soon.
May 8, 200816 yr It was available in Australia and I've seen them on shelves. I went looking for them the other day and there were none left! It's definately availible in Aus. because I have it so dont worry if you think your goin crazy because it was there then disapered btw i didnt know you are from Aus too
May 8, 200816 yr Yes its definately in Aus, which doesnt help you, just leaves me at a loss as to why we dont have the rest of the 08 stuff yet.
May 8, 200816 yr Yes, I've been looking for that one and quite disappointed so far as well. Actually, without derailing the thread too much, how many of the 2008 impulse sets have been actively seen? To keep it close to topic, I picked up the Knight impulse yesterday in a Toys R Us while grabbing some of the Crystal Skull sets on sale. It was the only one they had, and the first time I'd seen one.
May 8, 200816 yr Here in malta (this isolated rock) iv'e seen all the impulse sets, but no Indie or SW... I think Im better off with no impulse and WITH indie... Stauder.
May 8, 200816 yr Sadly, I doubt it. It still says only available in UK on S@H, along with the rest of the '08 castle sets. I've been wanting that set bad, too... You can get it through BrickLink. It's available from both European and N. American sellers. [raaaant!]If the prospect of paying European prices and transatlantic shipping fills you with dread, spare a thought for we Europeans who routinely have to pay more for less and have to wait much longer for it. And I don't just mean LEGO - all sorts of things. It costs less than half the price to see a movie in NY than it does to see the same film at a similar theatre in London, and it usually comes out months earlier in the US too.[/raaaant!] Here's a link to my review of this set.
May 9, 200816 yr This impulse set is available here in my city. All other impulse sets are here too. But I'm not very interested, to tell the truth.
May 9, 200816 yr The only newer castle sets that are in the Chicagoland area are the 7041 Troll Battle Wheel and set 5615 The Knight. I work at the Woodfield store so you are getting location specific information. As for everything else, I am also eagerly awaiting the new Castle sets.
May 9, 200816 yr All the impulse sets, as well as the new castle sets are available in New Zealand. And here I was thinking we were always the last country in the world to get sets... Go NZ!
May 9, 200816 yr I bought two of them because I love sand blue so much, and so I could make the wizard's apprentice. Does anyone know if they are selling well? I'd like to think these things could continue next year and beyond. Batbrick Away!
May 10, 200816 yr I bought two of them because I love sand blue so much, and so I could make the wizard's apprentice. Where did you find them Batbrick? EDIT: never mind Batbrick. I forgot you live in Australia.
May 10, 200816 yr Where did you find them Batbrick? EDIT: never mind Batbrick. I forgot you live in Australia. Dont feel so bad Brickster, we have to wait till Sept in Aus for the rest of the Castle line which has been on the S@H since Jan
May 10, 200816 yr I thought that, for the US at least, the impulse sets were going to be a staged sort of thing, meaning that some come out for spring, some for summer, etc. I could have swore I saw that somewhere here on Eurobricks, but I can't seem to find it right now. The only impulse sets I've seen locally have been the Kinght, Fireman, Poilceman and the Mars Mission mini-robot sets. Of couse, even finding those was nigh imposible for a while as the only place to have them locally was Target, and they were crammed in a ghetto over with all the cheapo toys intended for stuffing Easter baskets with (correspondingly, I haven't seen them since around Easter time). It would be handier if they put them, oh I dont know—with the rest of the LEGO products perhaps? Or at least at the registers where most folks might happen across them more often. You'd think LEGO would want them to be a bit more visible to enghance sales, as most of the impulse sets are pretty decent, especially for the price (from what I've seen so far). Ah well, minor rant over. I'm hoping my memory is serving me correctly and it's just the fact that the Good Wizard is intended as a Sumer/Fall release in the States rather than anything else.
May 10, 200816 yr Yeah, unfortunately, this impulse set will probably come out in August with the other castle sets as stated on Toy Fair. This is so unfair, and I don't even understand why TLC is doing it this way! I really could have used those for Castle Month... TLC holding out on sets for a continent for over half a year OFF!!
May 13, 200816 yr Does anyone know if they are selling well? I'd like to think these things could continue next year and beyond. S@H UK has frequently updated rankings of their top-selling sets. The Good Wizard has dropped out of the top 25 and therefore its rank is no longer public. But for quite a while after its release, it was in the top 10. I suspect that TLC are happy with how this set has done. But the real measure of its success from TLC's point of view will be how well it has performed as a gateway product for other sets in the Castle line. My guess is that TLC have or will be doing research on The Good Wizard and other impulse sets to gauge their cross-selling index. I very much doubt TLC will make their findings public but you'll know if The Good Wizard and The Knight did OK from the release of new Castle impulse sets in a couple of years.

I too am suprised the UK/Europe has done so well with all the Castle sets available for some time now and lots of other new releases appearing quickly. Still we did wait over a year and a half for Spongebob to finally make his first appearance and I've never seen any of them in any regular toy shops, they're still LEGO shop exclusives. Who knows how the marketing minds work at LEGO ???
May 14, 200816 yr I've seen the Spongebob sets at Toys "Ya" Us in Germany. I'm still waiting on most of the 2008 Castle stuff to show up in stores here...they just have the impulses and 2007 stuff. Well, I'm going back to Legoland at the end of June.
May 14, 200816 yr All the impulse sets, as well as the new castle sets are available in New Zealand. And here I was thinking we were always the last country in the world to get sets... Go NZ! Well, technically not all the sets. We still don't have the troll Impulse, or the knight catapult or skellie chariot Impulse. ~Peace
