Blackheart Brit Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 I have been into building GI JOE (Cobra Too) vehicles and Soldiers out of LEGO for more than a year now and built this last spring, but now there is a forum for it, YEH! more pics in my Flickr https://flickr.com/photos/13846883@N02/ Let me know what you think. ParmBrick Posted January 8, 2020 Posted January 8, 2020 Nicely done! Given the size of your creation, in my opinion it would have been better to allocate it as an STOVL aircraft carrier. At least that this was your initial idea, in this case, you did it very well! Quote
Nom Carver Posted January 9, 2020 Posted January 9, 2020 It's so nostalgic! the odd proportions give me an old gi joe vibe. Quote
Blackheart Brit Posted January 9, 2020 Author Posted January 9, 2020 Parm, Yeah, it probably would be a STOVL aircraft carrier if they made it today. Nom, It does have odd proportions since it is based off a toy version of a somewhat real Aircraft carriers plus LEGO geometry is sometimes not exact. I thought about and might still make but runway sections 16 studs longer, but i don't know, elements I don't have, etc. TheBreeze, thanks Quote
paintballman Posted January 10, 2020 Posted January 10, 2020 Very nice build. I propose you to participate to Great Brick War. You can build great stories ! Quote
samurai-turtle Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Considering the toy from Hasbro is like 6 feet long this is not to bad remake (out of LEGO). The S.K.Y.H.A.W.K.(s); Dragonfly and Shark (I believe that is the right name) are pretty nice too. Not to mention the other G.I. Joe things in your Flicker link. Quote
garrettgjg Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Having played with the plastic toy as a child, let me say well done man! A faithful and masterful recreation in lego of a childhood classic! Quote

miahbrick33 Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 I have been building in LDD many G.I.Joe vehicles from pictures I can find and this one is AWESOME! I love the Flagg! I too have been at it for about a year now. I would REALLY like to try and build this! Quote
Paradosis Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 That looks great, definitely remember this from yesteryear Quote

miahbrick33 Posted May 14, 2020 Posted May 14, 2020 Hey hey, I have started the build today! This is super great inspiration and scale as my other model is so many pieces! My question, is there any thing below deck in your model? I have set some parameters for mine, there will be a vehicle pool, head, galley and quarters. As stated above, I will still need a sky striker, and have been using geewunners customs as scale for the other models I am building. Thanks again for posting this, I dig it! ( this is a digital build I am doing, the super structure and deck are completed today, say for the crane.) Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 I really like how this turned out. Especially since I was considering using a similar size & technique for the lower hull of an amphibious assault ship/escort carrier design for one of my main factions (albeit with just a plain, single flight deck like such ships have), and it looks like this sort of scale would be perfect for that. You definitely did capture the general proportions of the original GI-Joe toy vis a vis how big it was compared to the action figures. Quote
