Lord Thrawn Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Just gotta let you guys know I saw a preview of The Dark Knight over here yesterday (dammit UK) and it was amazing. I could run out of words to praise it. Go sooner rather than later Brainbox. Also I have seen Gotham Knight for sale in HMV on DVD and Blu-Ray as well as in a 2 pack with Batman Begins. Quote
Brainbox Posted July 25, 2008 Posted July 25, 2008 Honestly, with the chances of getting Killer Moth, no character is "too vague"! That's a good point actually. You remember I was talking about Bat-Mite... Where is the Mesmeriser part? I can't find it. The pop-up hypnotism ray in his hat. He may not name it here, but that's what it's called. Ah, you're lucky to atleast have the BTAS volumes though, I have to order mine. Not really. We only have the first two. There's no sign of three or four yet. On top of all that, there's only HMV that sells them. I hear the Batlego sets are turning up in Britain tohugh, you seen any now? Not yet. I bet TRU has them, but I have to actually make a special trip there because of its relative location. I was going to get the chance to call in on Saturday, but that's not going to happen now. I read it, I just didn't think you lifted so many. *cough*All of them*cough* Go sooner rather than later Brainbox. Booked tickets for Monday night. Can't wait. Also I have seen Gotham Knight for sale in HMV on DVD and Blu-Ray as well as in a 2 pack with Batman Begins. Excellent. Next time I'm near one (another special trip ) I'll have a look. Thanks for the heads up. Quote
Batbrick Posted July 28, 2008 Author Posted July 28, 2008 That's a good point actually. You remember I was talking about Bat-Mite... Oh except him, way too obscure! What was that article posted not long ago that mentioned Batzarro though, I could've sworn it did! The pop-up hypnotism ray in his hat. He may not name it here, but that's what it's called. No, I mean where in the video is it? Not really. We only have the first two. There's no sign of three or four yet. On top of all that, there's only HMV that sells them. Well you're one up still though. I'll order Volume 3 off of Ebay soon I reckon, I've seen a good deal. Plus it has the best concentration of eps. Not yet. I bet TRU has them, but I have to actually make a special trip there because of its relative location. I was going to get the chance to call in on Saturday, but that's not going to happen now. Tassie FINALLY got the Tumbler. i'm going to buy it on sale next time I go into town, once again leaving me strapped for cash. *cough*All of them*cough* Oh dear. On a slightly related subject I was very bored in Maths class today and drew my own supervillain complete with collarless trenchcoat. I quite like him, he's rather cartoonish with a cyborg half head and arm. I just can't think of a good name, Doctor something... Booked tickets for Monday night. Can't wait. And how was it? Excellent. Next time I'm near one (another special trip ) I'll have a look. Thanks for the heads up. Good luck! In the meantime the Iceberg Lounge is reaching near completion. I know it is a less known location in the Batverse but I really want a place that isn't Arkham where the rogues can hangout among the public. Plus it being built on a 48x48 baseplate makes it rather impressive I also made a Lego Batpod, which I'm really happy with, as I find it is better than most out there in my opinion. It uses a helpful little trick from the Agents Swamp Raid set I got from the online instructions. Now hurry up and post your Goody Bag so I can post my stuff Batbrick Away! Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted July 30, 2008 Posted July 30, 2008 What was that article posted not long ago that mentioned Batzarro though, I could've sworn it did! I think that article may have been someone speculating after having seen that Killer Moth was in, and wondering what other surprise little-known characters could be in. No, I mean where in the video is it? Yes, I know you did. And like I said, he may not mention it here. I thought he did. It'll be in one of the clips somewhere no doubt. Tassie FINALLY got the Tumbler. i'm going to buy it on sale next time I go into town, once again leaving me strapped for cash. I thought the new Argos catalogue might have at least some of the Bat-sets in, but no. Not one. They have Mission 1 and Mission 6 though, so I might pick them up at the weekend. Oh dear. On a slightly related subject I was very bored in Maths class today and drew my own supervillain complete with collarless trenchcoat. I quite like him, he's rather cartoonish with a cyborg half head and arm. I just can't think of a good name, Doctor something... Doctor Cyborg? Hang on... why am I encouraging laziness and delinquency? Hang on... why are you still at school? Do you have a different holiday system to us? And how was it? You know, because of the time difference, you posted this before I'd even set off. But I loved it. Honestly, it was the best film I've seen in ages. The make-up aside, the Joker was very true to the real character. Such a powerful character. Loved the bit where he said that he and Batman were "destined to do this forever". Two-Face looked fantasic, the scarring looked hideous. The dependancy on the coin was well done, and it was nice to see he didn't take a back seat to the Joker. He felt very much the main focus of the film. I hadn't realised the Bat-pod was the Tumbler eject system, that was really cool. Seriously, I almost cheered aloud when that happended, then realised where I was. The bit where Bats turned the Bat-pod round up the wall was impossibly cool. The Tumbler AI was strangley eloquent wasn't it? "Loiter", "intimidate" and "damage catastrophic" spring to mind... And of course Babs made an appearance, even if she didn't speak, wasn't named, didn't show her face and was pretty young. It was clearly her though. There were some nice comic tieins as well. Echoes of TLH were still being felt, as were bits of Year One. The bit where Bats saves Gordon's son for instance. Once again, the Bat-signal has been smashed up. The twist at the end was pretty neat too. Of course, now Gordon is commissioner, let's hope he doesn't turn into the buffoon of the 60s. In fact, I was half-expecting Chief O'Hara to pop up in the police parade. "Saints aloive." Also, the pencil trick got an unexpected laugh from everyone. Unexpected because it's quite sadistic. And the Joker dressed as a nurse bit? Pure Joker. "Slaughter is the best medicine." I also made a Lego Batpod, which I'm really happy with, as I find it is better than most out there in my opinion. It uses a helpful little trick from the Agents Swamp Raid set I got from the online instructions. I so need to make a Bat-pod. I'm tempted to hold off until I get the Tumbler, then MOD it a bit smaller and put in a Bat-pod. Batbrick Away! Batbrick Away! My God! He's stuck in a time loop! Quote
Batbrick Posted July 30, 2008 Author Posted July 30, 2008 I think that article may have been someone speculating after having seen that Killer Moth was in, and wondering what other surprise little-known characters could be in. Good point. This really gives me hope now that Killer moth is in for a slew of unknown characters in the sets. For villains the list goes on: Mad Hatter, Clayface, Manbat, Killer Moth, Deadshot, Talia Al Ghul, Ra's Al Ghul, Ubu, Firefly, Black Mask, Hugo Strange, Hush, Maxie Zeus, Ventriloquest, KGBeast (just so I can use the metal arm ) and etc. Let's just hope the line continues..... Yes, I know you did. And like I said, he may not mention it here. I thought he did. It'll be in one of the clips somewhere no doubt. I'll try and find it sometime then. Though I do always enjoy watching any Penguin ep, Burgess Meredith was hilarious. I thought the new Argos catalogue might have at least some of the Bat-sets in, but no. Not one. They have Mission 1 and Mission 6 though, so I might pick them up at the weekend. Good job, Mission Six looks to be the best set of the theme. Anyway, I found the Tumbler yesterday in town, and bought it! It was very fun to build, but believe me when I say there is no way you can scale this baby down! It is so tall batman would need a ladder to climb up in and it is wider and longer than the Battank! Seriously, I'm going to take it apart and use the pieces (there is about 20 black 1x1 slopes ) for future Batmocs. I've kept my Wetwire Tumbler instead. That said, it is great to get joker again and the popsicles make the set worth it alone. The Icecream truck is absolutely inspired and the stickers look fantastic. Doctor Cyborg? I decided on Doctor Roboto, and gave him a goatee! Hang on... why am I encouraging laziness and delinquency? Because it's probably a trait you have as well? Hang on... why are you still at school? Do you have a different holiday system to us? It is different, I had my holidays a while back, I remember them being longer than yours. You know, because of the time difference, you posted this before I'd even set off. I know, I thought that was quite funny actually. Glad oyu loved it. Two-Face being easily the best DC character ever was done much justice in this film, Eckhart did a superb job as him. I love how the split personality wasn't thrown at us so much as being made known by his sudden outbursts (did you jump in your seat too when he screamed "SAY IT!" in the hospital?), accepting Two-Face as his identity and of course his coin dependancy. His Maroni scene was badass too. Plus his Harvey Dent music which was very uplifting (I might of shed a tear the second time round ) was cleverly warped into the dark piece at the finale. Both vehicles were simply wonderful: "He missed!"*Trailer flips* Yeah, the ejection of the batpod was sweet, I could barely hold back my excitement there. Plus I think the Lamborghini scene was possibly a hint at a sleeker Batmobile in the future. And of course Babs made an appearance, even if she didn't speak, wasn't named, didn't show her face and was pretty young. It was clearly her though. Naturally. There were some nice comic tieins as well. Echoes of TLH were still being felt, as were bits of Year One. The bit where Bats saves Gordon's son for instance. Once again, the Bat-signal has been smashed up. The twist at the end was pretty neat too. You forgot the biggie: The Killing Joke. Seriously, the way Joker reveals he was actually the biggest schemer of all and that his plan was to make Dent nuts was straight out of the comics, especially this part: "Madness is like gravity, all it needs, is a little.....push! Hahahahaha!" Also, the pencil trick got an unexpected laugh from everyone. Unexpected because it's quite sadistic. And the Joker dressed as a nurse bit? Pure Joker."Slaughter is the best medicine." Oh they were hilarious, and when he mouthes the word "Tn" to the police officer and asks Gordon for one more minute when he's going to kill an unconscious batman. What did you think of Crane's cameo? I so need to make a Bat-pod. I'm tempted to hold off until I get the Tumbler, then MOD it a bit smaller and put in a Bat-pod. I'll post mine sometime and you can see if you like. I Also started building your yellow tumbler! My God! He's stuck in a time loop! Not again! Not again! Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Though I do always enjoy watching any Penguin ep, Burgess Meredith was hilarious. He does seem to be the guest villain who enjoys it the most. He seems to have real fun when he's playing the character, and of course he's the villain who did the most stories. I rather like Frank Gorshin as the Riddler as well, such a manic energy. I've really enjoyed watching all the episodes while they've been on here. There have been some really cringe-worthy moments, which are so awful but so funny. For example: Robin: Gosh Batman, weren't you worried? Batman: Not at all Robin. Haven't you noticed how we always escape from our foes elaborate death-traps. Robin: Isn't it because we're well-trained crimefighters? Batman: No Robin, I like to believe it's because our hearts are pure. But I think the best moment of the series has got to Batman and Alfred for "I'll give you a lift into town on the Alf-cycle, sir" from The Catwoman Goeth (part 2 after The Sandman Cometh). Seriously, it's so funny, try and find it. It's a real shame you've not seen most of them, I'd really like to talk about them with you. Ah... right. In that case, I may have to rebuild it using parts from the set. On a related note, I started work on my Batcave the other day. Obvioulsy, I've not got this years sets yet, but I built a few (somewhat crappy) mock-ups to check the space was right. I've planned out roughly where everything's going to go, and I've sort of done bits of it. I've found some good cardboard boxes as well, that I can use to make my backdrops. I think I've finished the water area though. I only hope it's as impressive as I imagine it as. Because it's probably a trait you have as well? Probably, yeah. I think I'm lazier than myself sometimes! (did you jump in your seat too when he screamed "SAY IT!" in the hospital I didn't so much jump as leap. I really wasn't expecting it! Plus I think the Lamborghini scene was possibly a hint at a sleeker Batmobile in the future. Oh, wouldn't that be nice. Not necessarily a Lambo, just something a little less tank-like. Or he could keep the Bat=pod, I wouldn't mind that either. Seriously, the way Joker reveals he was actually the biggest schemer of all and that his plan was to make Dent nuts was straight out of the comics, especially this part: "Madness is like gravity, all it needs, is a little.....push! Hahahahaha!" Oh yes, of course. How could I forget? What did you think of Crane's cameo? It gave it more of a feel closer to the comics in a way, with returning villains and such. The very fact that it is just a cameo makes it feel like the opening vignette of a new story arc, the way it's unconnected but actually ties in. I Also started building your yellow tumbler! Quote
Batbrick Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 He does seem to be the guest villain who enjoys it the most. He seems to have real fun when he's playing the character, and of course he's the villain who did the most stories. I rather like Frank Gorshin as the Riddler as well, such a manic energy. Oh Frank Gorshin is fantastic, I always enjoy that ep where his masterplan culminates in a boxing match with Batman! And the episode where Penguin makes his political campaign and Batman has to oppose him on live television For example: , I must find this Alf-Cycle! It's a real shame you've not seen most of them, I'd really like to talk about them with you. I don't know, I've seen more than you seem to be giving me credit for, the first season I hold in highest regard as the quality slipped following that. Plus Ceasar Romero surfing against Batman was brilliance. Oh, and I read an article recently that Adam West was helping make special features for a 60's Bamtan set, have the companies resolved their differences? Time will tell... Ah... right. In that case, I may have to rebuild it using parts from the set. I wish you good luck, in the words of cliche cinema: You'll need it! Good job, I really need to renovate my Batcave, at the moment it is just the st with a slew of vehicles in front. I plan on modding it after I do Wayne Manor. I plan on backdrops as well, but I'll be getting large black paper/cupboard sheets and drawing cave patterns on them. I didn't so much jump as leap. I really wasn't expecting it! Glad to know I wasn't the only one shocked there, Nolan really did Dent justice here, despite my love of Two-Face I liked Harbey so much I didn't want it to happen! I honestly think Aaron Eckhart was the best actor is the film, that three way TLH-like finale was amazing: "We thought we could be decent men in an indecent time! But we were wrong. The world is cruel, and the only truth in a cruel world is chance: unbiased, unpredujiced, fair." Are you going to do what I did and see it again? Oh, wouldn't that be nice. Not necessarily a Lambo, just something a little less tank-like. Or he could keep the Bat=pod, I wouldn't mind that either. No, not a Lambo, but a cool sleek Mobile that still retains much of the functionality. Like a sleeker tumbler, given the edges on the Lambo it's not a stretch. It gave it more of a feel closer to the comics in a way, with returning villains and such. The very fact that it is just a cameo makes it feel like the opening vignette of a new story arc, the way it's unconnected but actually ties in. Good point, it also illustrated that the Freaks were taking over, that the mob was diminishing. It's a sports tumbler, it's open! Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Oh Frank Gorshin is fantastic, I always enjoy that ep where his masterplan culminates in a boxing match with Batman! We've not quite got there yet. This week is Catwoman Goes to College/Batman Displays His Knowledge, which means we're approaching the end of series 2. And the episode where Penguin makes his political campaign and Batman has to oppose him on live television You know, I think that's the only time we see Penguin's hair across all three series. , I must find this Alf-Cycle! It really is as low-rent as you think. It makes sporadic appearances throughout series 2. There's once where Bruce Wayne allows his car to be stolen (they were in the car, it got hijacked by the villain's moll) leaving himself, Dick and Alfred stranded. But fear not, because he had the Batcycle follow them. Bruce and Dick (not in costume, but they're only a short distance from the Batcave) take the Batcycle, while Alfred uses his pedal bike Alf-cycle which was being carried in the Batcycle sidecar. Now, as if it's not bad enough that Bruce makes an old man ride a pedal bike rather than someone younger (say, Robin), he even gives him a push-off as he goes! I don't know, I've seen more than you seem to be giving me credit for, the first season I hold in highest regard as the quality slipped following that. Really? Excellent. I've taped them all while they've been on, so what I might do is go back and watch them all from the beginning and talk about them with you if you've seen it. If not, we'll move on. I've been walking round for weeks saying "Byat-man" and "seven handred haat boxes" Mad Hatter style! Oh, and I read an article recently that Adam West was helping make special features for a 60's Bamtan set, have the companies resolved their differences? Time will tell... Seriously? Oh, I hope so. Sure it'll cost a fortune, and I may have taped them like I said, but I'd much rather have them on DVD. The 'real' reason for there being no DVD release varies wildly, from 'the companies can't resolve their differences' to 'DC editorial staff don't want a campy Batman out there on the market'. Good job, I really need to renovate my Batcave, at the moment it is just the st with a slew of vehicles in front. I plan on modding it after I do Wayne Manor. I plan on backdrops as well, but I'll be getting large black paper/cupboard sheets and drawing cave patterns on them. Quite high-tech then? Thing is, I'm not sure whether to make my card backdrops with grey cave-wall painting on them, then build bits of cave wall in front when it's needed, or paint a black background and do the same. I think black might give it more depth, and it would also work better in the vehicle exits. Are you going to do what I did and see it again? I think I may do... It's a sports tumbler, it's open! Batbrick Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 We've not quite got there yet. This week is Catwoman Goes to College/Batman Displays His Knowledge, which means we're approaching the end of series 2. Ah, I plan on seeing more of this series right after I finish The Twilight Zone. Have you seen it? I've got my friend hooked! You know, I think that's the only time we see Penguin's hair across all three series. Burgess Meredith is brilliant, and he's also on 4 eps of The Twilight Zone It really is as low-rent as you think. The movie is hysterical too, the "can't get rid of a bomb" and Anti Shark Repellent Bat Spray sequences are famous! It also contains funnily enough some of the very very few people to die in the series I believe. Really? Excellent. I've taped them all while they've been on, so what I might do is go back and watch them all from the beginning and talk about them with you if you've seen it. If not, we'll move on.I've been walking round for weeks saying "Byat-man" and "seven handred haat boxes" Mad Hatter style! Yes, definitely, all mediums in which Batman appear (except maybe The Batman) should be respected. I'd love to chat on the series. Speaking of mediums though, have you heard of the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the bold animated series coming? It seems like such a funny, 60's (as in the comics at the time) stories in which Bats teams up with another DC hero each episode. Let's just hope it is true, I really want to get it! They're one of the few series you just never get sick of aren't they? Quite high-tech then? Thing is, I'm not sure whether to make my card backdrops with grey cave-wall painting on them, then build bits of cave wall in front when it's needed, or paint a black background and do the same. I think black might give it more depth, and it would also work better in the vehicle exits. Go black and put grey over, gives it a dark and open feel. I've finished the Iceberg Lounge and am now uploading the pics. Hopefully it'll be uploaded soon, and I expect a big evaluation, because it is my biggest moc yet I think I may do... Correction: You must and will do! I'm currently watching my favourite scene (The Batman/Gordon/Two-Face finale) on the 'tube Er, scratch that! Its changed, imagine the Tumbler, but tough Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 Ah, I plan on seeing more of this series right after I finish The Twilight Zone. Have you seen it? I've got my friend hooked! Once again... no. Burgess Meredith is brilliant, and he's also on 4 eps of The Twilight Zone Frank Gorshin popped up on an episode of CSI shortly before he died. I don't know, it feels weird somehow to see the Batman actors elsewhere, they're just so ingrained as the characters. The movie is hysterical too, the "can't get rid of a bomb" and Anti Shark Repellent Bat Spray sequences are famous! It also contains funnily enough some of the very very few people to die in the series I believe. And that bit at the end when Batman discovers Miss Kitka is Catwoman, and that strange music plays as Batman stares away into the distance. "Holy Heartbreak Batman." Oh, and the other bit that springs to mind is when they're about to start the separation machine, Robin wonders if they should 'mess around a bit'. Batman admonishes him and says they shouldn't tamper with nature. Then when it happens accidentally due to (quite obviously) Batman's miscalculations it's a good thing and was Batman's great idea! And about the death thing. There were the five henchmen here, although it's debateable when they died or whether they're actually dead (Batman says they've left this reality), and two henchmen in the Zelda episodes who accidentally shoot each other... and Batman doesn't really care. There's also a fake Commissioner Gordon who falls off a brigde in the Bookworm episodes, but it's not stated whether he dies or not. Speaking of mediums though, have you heard of the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the bold animated series coming? It seems like such a funny, 60's (as in the comics at the time) stories in which Bats teams up with another DC hero each episode. I've heard a little about it yeah. Looks promising. If it's based somewhat on the original B&B, of which I've read a few, then it should be good. And of course it'll be heavily Batman-orientated. Not that I'll get to see it mind, it'll be on a channel I don't have. Let's just hope it is true, I really want to get it! They're one of the few series you just never get sick of aren't they? Especially as the more times you watch it, the more you notice stupid and silly things. There was a trophy shelf that cropped up in the background of the Batcave the other week, and I would have so loved to pause the DVD and see what was there. I spotted some of Egghead's eggs, Penguin's movie-producer megaphone and some of Archer's arrows though. Go black and put grey over, gives it a dark and open feel. I've finished the Iceberg Lounge and am now uploading the pics. Hopefully it'll be uploaded soon, and I expect a big evaluation, because it is my biggest moc yet I think I agree with you. I look forward to seeing the Iceberg Lounge though. On a related note, I took all the photographs for Bat-MOC 4 yesterday, so expect that to be up soon. I made a Bat-pod yesterday that I'm rather pleased with, so that went in as well. Er, scratch that! Its changed, imagine the Tumbler, but tough And yellow. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 Once again... no. It's funny, I normally have a very good memory, I guess that's what happens when you step.......Into the Twilight Zone! Frank Gorshin popped up on an episode of CSI shortly before he died. I don't know, it feels weird somehow to see the Batman actors elsewhere, they're just so ingrained as the characters. It is a very strange thing when that hapens, I know I can't take Johnny Depp seriously after Jack Sparrow, and knowing Dr Cox in Scrubs voices the Atom in Justice League is simply hilarious! And that bit at the end when Batman discovers Miss Kitka is Catwoman, and that strange music plays as Batman stares away into the distance. "Holy Heartbreak Batman."Oh, and the other bit that springs to mind is when they're about to start the separation machine, Robin wonders if they should 'mess around a bit'. Batman admonishes him and says they shouldn't tamper with nature. Then when it happens accidentally due to (quite obviously) Batman's miscalculations it's a good thing and was Batman's great idea! I remember that! The fight in the mansion with Miss Kitka becoming Catwoman was brilliant too, what a bunch of weaklings! And the final sufight just goes on and on and on, so many "Biffs!" and "Pows!" and "Zapps!" with them climbing out of the water and back up onto the sub again I've heard a little about it yeah. Looks promising. If it's based somewhat on the original B&B, of which I've read a few, then it should be good. And of course it'll be heavily Batman-orientated. Not that I'll get to see it mind, it'll be on a channel I don't have. Well there's always the grace of Youtube or you. I like the look of it, I hope they play it humourously and not just for kids, a bit of camp like the 60's. I think I agree with you. I look forward to seeing the Iceberg Lounge though. On a related note, I took all the photographs for Bat-MOC 4 yesterday, so expect that to be up soon. I made a Bat-pod yesterday that I'm rather pleased with, so that went in as well. I love the Bag! Great job there, your Batpod makes mine look crap. Good to see me in there to, we influence each other to new heights of thread destroying! The Iceberg Lounge is up too if you want to commnt, tell me what you think. And yellow. Of course, yellow. I might put it in a Batbrick/Brainbox thread. Perhaps we should co-make it? You know, throw it together to make a true Batbrick and Brainbox thread but don't see the other's creations til we post it? We could then comment on it! (we'd be the only ones ) Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 (edited) It's funny, I normally have a very good memory, I guess that's what happens when you step.......Into the Twilight Zone! No, I mean, once again I haven't seen something that I probably should have. Well read, badly watched. and knowing Dr Cox in Scrubs voices the Atom in Justice League is simply hilarious! Really? I didn't know that. I remember that! The fight in the mansion with Miss Kitka becoming Catwoman was brilliant too, what a bunch of weaklings! And the final sufight just goes on and on and on, so many "Biffs!" and "Pows!" and "Zapps!" with them climbing out of the water and back up onto the sub again I swear some of them actually jump into the water, rather than being pushed. What about Batman swinging that giant spanner... that doesn't hurt anyone?! And of course good old Alfred driving the Batmobile. With his mask on. With his glasses over the top. "Bless my dustpan!" I'm sorry, I've just burst out in a fit of hysterics at having written that. For some reason I found that really funny. Well there's always the grace of Youtube or you. I like the look of it, I hope they play it humourously and not just for kids, a bit of camp like the 60's. The animation style certainly looks quite lighthearted. Speaking of, have you seen any of the new Superfriends toys? The ones from the new comic series that introduces the Justice League to a new generation. For some reason, I really want a Batman figure... Of course, yellow. I might put it in a Batbrick/Brainbox thread. Perhaps we should co-make it? You know, throw it together to make a true Batbrick and Brainbox thread but don't see the other's creations til we post it? We could then comment on it! (we'd be the only ones ) That's a really good idea. We could even go so far as to involve a third party to actually post all the stuff at once. You're wrong there though. There'd be a couple of other people who comment, then it'd just be us for page after page. EDIT: Have you seen this about B&B? Looks good. Have you noticed that Batman's face is slightly reminiscent of Adam West? Edited August 5, 2008 by Brainbox Quote
Batbrick Posted August 5, 2008 Author Posted August 5, 2008 No, I mean, once again I haven't seen something that I probably should have. Well read, badly watched. There's a cure for that you know Really? I didn't know that. Yes, it's really quite funny, have you seen Scrubs much? But he is fantastic as the Atom, almost as cynical too. I swear some of them actually jump into the water, rather than being pushed. What about Batman swinging that giant spanner... that doesn't hurt anyone?!And of course good old Alfred driving the Batmobile. With his mask on. With his glasses over the top. "Bless my dustpan!" I'm sorry, I've just burst out in a fit of hysterics at having written that. For some reason I found that really funny. , I've done that before. Yes, the choreography on the sub fight is horrendous, but so good. The DVD is for sale here, I really must buy it sometime, after I get BTAS vol 3, BTAS vol 4, Justice League: The New Frontier and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. Speaking of BTAS, how are oyu going with that? And speaking of animated DC, I give you the trailer for Wonder Woman. What do you think? I reckon it looks quite good, despite the fact she wasn't born but sculpted from clay, how did they choose that line in the trailer! The animation style certainly looks quite lighthearted. Speaking of, have you seen any of the new Superfriends toys? The ones from the new comic series that introduces the Justice League to a new generation. For some reason, I really want a Batman figure... No I haven't, but that Batman figurine does look cool. Good luck getting it, all I have are The Batman toys here... That's a really good idea. We could even go so far as to involve a third party to actually post all the stuff at once. Good idea right back at you, we must begin preparations at once! Shall it be a vig, minivig, creation and etc as the guidelines of what must be built? You're wrong there though. There'd be a couple of other people who comment, then it'd just be us for page after page. Exactly right! But I wouldn't have it any other way! EDIT: Have you seen this about B&B? Looks good. Have you noticed that Batman's face is slightly reminiscent of Adam West? Yes, that was the link I was trying to find for you. Thanks, I love that cheesy music, and the fact that Kite-Man is involved is a sure sign of hilarity! Oh, and thanks for commenting on my Iceberg Lounge too. Batbrick Away! Quote
Brainbox Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Yes, it's really quite funny, have you seen Scrubs much? But he is fantastic as the Atom, almost as cynical too. A little. But for some reason, I just don't 'get' it. All my mates at college think it's one of the best things on TV, but I'm not so sure. One of my other mates doesn't like it either, but he's grumpy and doesn't like anything. The DVD is for sale here, I really must buy it sometime Yeah, I think I'll have to do the same. I've got a taped copy from last time it was on, but if I can find it cheap I'll pick it up. Might look in HMV, they seem to have everything on sale all the time... Speaking of BTAS, how are oyu going with that? Watched Fear of Victory the other week, that was quite good. Robin's back, with no explanation for his absence. Never mind though, because a few minutes in he's stupidly fallen for the old poison letter trick. Idiot. Scarecrow's redesign looks nice. No big changes, but he definitely looks 'scarier'. Time is of the essence of course, it's Clock King up next. And speaking of animated DC, I give you the trailer for Wonder Woman. What do you think? I reckon it looks quite good, despite the fact she wasn't born but sculpted from clay, how did they choose that line in the trailer! Seeing as how this is done by DC, I should think it'll be born... of clay. Because I guess she technically was. It looks pretty good though, back to the mythical roots of the character, like the 80s reinterpretation. That is, rather than the pseudo-bondage WW of the 40s, which is probably a good thing here. And she doesn't look unattractive, which is right for WW. Good idea right back at you, we must begin preparations at once! Shall it be a vig, minivig, creation and etc as the guidelines of what must be built? Maybe even something looser? Say, a set number of creations, but they can be anything BB1/BB2 related. Exactly right! But I wouldn't have it any other way! Aw, you're so sweet. Oh, and thanks for commenting on my Iceberg Lounge too. And thanks for commenting on Bat-MOC 4. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 A little. But for some reason, I just don't 'get' it. All my mates at college think it's one of the best things on TV, but I'm not so sure. One of my other mates doesn't like it either, but he's grumpy and doesn't like anything. Really? I thought it'd be right up your alley. The cynical and absurd humour, it's all there! Oh well, atleast I can take solace in the fact that I know a good show when I watch one Oh, and i have a friend like that, very grumpy. Yeah, I think I'll have to do the same. I've got a taped copy from last time it was on, but if I can find it cheap I'll pick it up. Might look in HMV, they seem to have everything on sale all the time... They;re everywhere here for a low low price which is good, though my family being the absolute annoyances they are whenever it comes to anything Batman related won't "get" it, sigh Is your family like that? Watched Fear of Victory the other week, that was quite good. Robin's back, with no explanation for his absence. Never mind though, because a few minutes in he's stupidly fallen for the old poison letter trick. Idiot.Scarecrow's redesign looks nice. No big changes, but he definitely looks 'scarier'. Time is of the essence of course, it's Clock King up next. Ah yes, not the best of eps but very enjoyable. Though I think you're being too harsh on Dick, how was he supposed to know it contains an adrenalin charged absorbant? Great animation when Batman is falling off the building too. Did you notice the crowd boos when Scarecrow gets the upperhand and cheers when Batman does? Oh, and you'll feel right at home with the Clock King ep, Temple Fugate is hilariously punning. Seeing as how this is done by DC, I should think it'll be born... of clay. Because I guess she technically was.It looks pretty good though, back to the mythical roots of the character, like the 80s reinterpretation. That is, rather than the pseudo-bondage WW of the 40s, which is probably a good thing here. And she doesn't look unattractive, which is right for WW. Glad to see you're interested, poor Wonder Woman, very underrated she is. She doesn't have any well known rogues to the public, we really need a live action film with her. Too bad Joss Whedon left the production, he made Firefly, have you seen it? Maybe even something looser? Say, a set number of creations, but they can be anything BB1/BB2 related. Good idea! Now let's make it a reality, I already have some ideas and shall begin building soon! Aw, you're so sweet. You are too, but let's not let people think we are.........close And thanks for commenting on Bat-MOC 4. Perfectly alright, Matches is finally out and you made a fool of my Batpod. A good job then. Stauder Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 Sorry to intterupt you guys, but I want to ask you, what is batman's mask made of? Is it usually solid as shown in Batman Begins, (haven't seen TDK sorry) or is it colth-y as shown in the 1960s series? Staudie. Quote

Brainbox Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 (edited) Really? I thought it'd be right up your alley. The cynical and absurd humour, it's all there! It's one of those things I know I should like, but I just can't quite manage it. I don't dislike it, and I can watch it, it' sjust that there are plenty of other things that I'd rather watch. They;re everywhere here for a low low price which is good, though my family being the absolute annoyances they are whenever it comes to anything Batman related won't "get" it, sigh Is your family like that? They're not as bad as they used to be. They used to sort of ask me if I "really wanted [to buy] it" which in other words meant "wouldn't you rather have something else?" That happened with Lego, Transformers and comics. But I think when I reached 16 and stuck with my passions, they figured there was nothing they could do about it, and left me alone. Oh, I don't know. Too bad Joss Whedon left the production, he made Firefly, have you seen it? She doesn't really have any well-known rogues to comic geeks either! Save for Cheetah, Circe and Giganta, and maybe Doctor Psycho, the others are a bit obscure. Angle Man, for example. And no, I haven't seen Firefly. You've recommended it to me once before. It's on the 'must see' list. You are too, but let's not let people think we are.........close Let me down gently, why don't you! No seriously, that's alright. Usual in the comics the mask is cloth that goes over his face, but stronger to keep that bat-shape. Though i believe occasionally he is shown with a solid mask. In the comics, it's Kevlar reinforced, lead lined memory weave cloth. It also has various electronics built in, and is shielded against mind control, and disorientation (via a navigation system). It also has a comm-link, Waynetech Starlite lenses, and often various countermeasures to stop it being removed. The 60s Batsuit on the other hand is attached round his neck by poppers. EDIT - This might interest you laides. Woah, cool! But even better than that: BEEP BEEP Catwoman Goes To College was on last night (Batman Displays His Knowledge is on tonight). Take a look, it's pretty funny: Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Watch out for the funniest line Gordon's ever had, when he reprimands Captain Courageous. Then, watch out for what Bruce Wayne does after Alfred swaps places with him. He must have something really important to do if he can't wait for Gordon to help him. You'd think so wouldn't you... Zarkan Posted August 6, 2008 Posted August 6, 2008 The animation style certainly looks quite lighthearted. Speaking of, have you seen any of the new Superfriends toys? The ones from the new comic series that introduces the Justice League to a new generation. For some reason, I really want a Batman figure... Neither of you may know it, but that batman toy is really just a remake of an old Rescue Hero toy, with a police cop called Jake Justice and the same missile thing and bike design. Even the figure design is very similar! know, because my brother got that toy when he was younger, and we still have it. Quote
Batbrick Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 EDIT - This might interest you laides. Staudie. Ah ,yes. I read this the other day, thanks for bringing it up. I love that Tumbler, so cool. Yet the most amazing and disturbing thing of all is that crotch bulge on the batsuit! Look Away! It's one of those things I know I should like, but I just can't quite manage it. I don't dislike it, and I can watch it, it' sjust that there are plenty of other things that I'd rather watch. That happened with Lego, Transformers and comics. But I think when I reached 16 and stuck with my passions, they figured there was nothing they could do about it, and left me alone. I can only hope my family does the same. Though I am past sixteen and the bashing continues, though I do have six members in my family. Luckily The Dark Knight and Gotham Knight helped sway their views a wee bit due to the inherit darkness. My brother respects BTAS' darkness, but my sisters shrug it off because it is animation, they don't understand art transcends mediums Oh, I don't know. He only trained with the worlds greatest detective and all. I didn't and I saw it. Point, BUT (and I'm not just trying to defend it because I love the show) you knew as an episode that this would happen, but why would Robin suspect a simple fan letter from an anonymous wannabe? Anyway, the dynamic duo have fallen for easier traps in the comics And no, I didn't notice. Might have to have a look sometime. It really is quite funny: *Batman reaches for vial - crowd cheers* *Scarecrow tackles Bats - crowd boos* *Batman hits Scarecrow - crowd cheers again. etc* She doesn't really have any well-known rogues to comic geeks either! Save for Cheetah, Circe and Giganta, and maybe Doctor Psycho, the others are a bit obscure. Angle Man, for example. It was a joke, this was the fifth time I've recommended it. Let me down gently, why don't you! Hmmmm......maybe I'll hold on to you yet! Specific, don't forget the taser that often electrocutes people that try to take it off, I love that this was also in TDK. But the 60's was the best! Woah, cool! But even better than that: BEEP BEEP Must get one! Catwoman Goes To College was on last night (Batman Displays His Knowledge is on tonight). "Good luck sir! Reckon the disguise will work?" "Let's hope so Alfred." WW and comics in general are my thing, so that annoys me. Now they're pointing out other WW products to her. Excuse me, who's the comic geek here? Who is a WW fan? She's done it with Doctor Who as well, just because she fancies David Tennant. I was a fan of the classic series long before the new series came out, I'm the one with the expert knowledge of it. I'm the Whovian. But she seems to have developed this idea that it's her who's the big fan, and my mum and dad have even started asking her about in-jokes, references and up-coming storylines! Thing is, Batman had Alfred take his place in prison (dressed in the Batsuit once again, looking ridiculous). Batbrick Posted August 7, 2008 Author Posted August 7, 2008 I missed that... don't know how! I just don;'t get it, how could any man go parading around in a batsuit with something that noticeable? In fact, the thing that annoys me about my family is when they take an interest in my thing. My mum doesn't really do it, but my dad and sister do. Here's an example. My sister bought a Wonder Woman t-shirt the other week. Fine, but she doesn't even like WW. WW and comics in general are my thing, so that annoys me. Excuse me, no, my thing. I had to harshly tell my dad not to buy a Riddler t-shirt we came across today, because it's my thing. Does he like comics? No. Do I? Yes. I want any clothes that express my passions to be worn by me, not him! I'm sorry, but it really annoys me. , I like that very much. With my family it is near opposite, they won't let me have a "Batman Night" (Me and my friends watch BTAS, Mask of the Phantasm, Batman Begins, Gotham Knight and Batman and Robin to see how far we can last ). They find it embarrassing that I want to put up DC posters in my room, and my sister plays the guitar right in front of the television when I'm watching Bat-anything. Still, I did win one battle: comics. My mother no longer asks "Do you really want this though Thomas?" instead just complies and orders them. Yesterday I texted her to order The Greatest Joker Stories Ever Told from her uni, but unfortunately they couldn't find it, so they said they'll tell her if they can order it tomorrow. My father likes watching Batman with me though, which is good, though that is undone by my sisters thinking that crucial bits are funny, like Dick Grayson's parents dying Oh, Ares of course. Forgot about him. Rather proves a point doesn't it? What a coincedence, for that is exactly the foe she'll be going up against in the movie! And apparently Bruce Timm stated that he'd love to do a Flash and Green Lantern film, and apparently there are two more Batman monies to be done, two! Look at us, we're even flirting now... Just keep telling yourself it's because we're lonely, like I do Thing is, Batman had Alfred take his place in prison (dressed in the Batsuit once again, looking ridiculous). You think he'd have somthing important to do, either as Batman or Bruce Wayne, that couldn't wait for Gordon to come down and have him freed. But no, he goes home and reads the paper! I love that, the maid just calmly tells him there's a phone call while Alfred is in prison. Ah, that's Warden Crichton's special rehabilitation programme. He lets them wear their own clothes in the week before they're released. But Gordon applauding Batman's escape was really quite funny.Have you watched part 2, Batman Displays His Knowledge, yet? That said though, Julie Newmar as Catwoman is always worth a look, if you know what I mean. Ah, what a program! It's like he's trying to get them to return to crime! I haven't watched part 2 yet, but I will. What I love is that Catwoman admits Batman is the world's greatest escape artist, yet she leaves him in an elaborate death trap And yes, she is worth a look... It doesn't really matter which one you watch, they're all worth it. Try his the ones (it was a three-part story) where he teams up with the Joker, kill two bird with one stone if you'll excuse the pun. The Zodiac Crimes, The Joker's Hard Time and The Penguin Declines. When you've done that, check out the one where he teams up with Marsha (also a three-parter), that's pretty good as well. Penguin is a Girl's Best Friend, Penguin Sets a Trend and Penguin's Disastrous End. Youtube seems to have them both up as well as a couple of others. The Penguin ones are my favourite, I wish the comics would look to this interpretation for inspiration as really it is spot on. Just make him of course have darker motives, not do the "waugh waugh!" and be a bit more evil, but Meredith practically has his conniving personality down, not ot mention just as he should in the comics he often fronts his crimes with legal motives or in fact commits them without breaking a single law at all! I'm sure Youtube has them all surely? Batbrick Away! Quote
