Maybe for you!

Hey, I'm all heart.

I've done the smart thing and NOT saved for a car but instead caught up on BTAS and the comics naturally

Now my sisters are getting all annoying saying iu should save up for a car, I don't want to!

Oh naturally. I've not even got round to learning to drive yet. It's 17 here, I don't know what it is over there, but I'm nearly 18 and haven't got round to it. And I'm not getting a car either.

Yeah, that'd work, I'll get editing on them later today I think. It may take a couple of days you understand, is that fine?

Thank you. Sure, I understand you've got things to do, unlike me. Like I said, you can either send all three when you've finished, or send them one at a time.

I like the comic look better myself too, he reverts back to it when the style changes for volume four. But you have to admit atleast he makes a bit more sense in it, mad as a hatter still but motive is there, as opposed to waving the pedophilic flag everyone seems to be doing with the character recently. He has a great ep next season, I kind of feel sorry for the poor fella.

Yeah, I agree there. It's never been all that clear what the motives of the comic counterpart are. Is he obsessed with hats? Young girls? Lewis Carroll? All three?

And the unreciprocated love thing, well we've all been there haven't we?

Thanks, you should adopt that last bit as your sign off! I'd really appreciate that, I want ot include the batphone and maybe the batpoles, but the grandfather entrance is the biggie. It'll just be very hard to do in an open playset.

 That's not a bad idea.

I'll have a look through today. Sadly, Wayne Manor itself doesn't get quite as much exposure as the Batcave, but I'm pretty sure I've got some good pics I can root out. I'll have a look through, and see what I can find on the web. I'll let you know what I come up with. :classic:

EDIT: So I've been making a list of Wayne Manor features from my comics, and I've just taken a break to see what I can find on the web. And, well, just look what I've found on MOCpages! :oh:

I need to build a Wayne Manor now...

Hehe. Yeah, I totally understand there. Having just come back from my Bible Study (topic was "money" and I started panicking! ) I resolved to spend a bit less on one of my hobbies. I chose Lego, as many sets I buy I do not need and waste my money on, while comics and DVDs build up collections. So in order to save a bit and become a bit more mature with my money I have decided Castle will not be getting the royal treatment this year skipping out on the Troll Battle Wheel, Troll Attackship, Advent Calender and getting very little multiples out of my own pocket. I will not be getting the Crystal Reaper either. I reckon ultimately this will help my cause though.

Thanks, I'm very sorry that I didn't read any today or yesterday, but i assure you, you will understand: Yesterday the Joker: Greatest Stories Ever told arrived and my friends and I cackled at the boner story. It truly is a great collection with some wonderful art from Alex Ross and the brilliant Marshall Rogers, Dini's slayride is also a great Joker tale. Then, I finished it today, and guesws what also came? BTAS vol 3! I was so happy, I watched about eight eps in a row, and am still going

In my opinion, he is one of the characters alongside Mr Freeze that TAS did better, he actually had a motive while still remaining a rather creepy and most certainly mad guy. Plus his gimmick is quite good. I like the end: "Would not, could not, would not, could. Oh could not join the dance....."

Thanks, I think tan is definitely the way to go. I want to have Bruce and Tim's room of course as well, so I need to know what Tim would have there.

I need to build a Wayne Manor now...

Wowza! That thing is HUGE! I love it, thanks for sharing even if it acutely depresses me how much I'll never measure up to it. The only gripe I have is that it is a little too tall, which makes it look less like a manor and more like an industrial building. Still beautiful though.

Oh, and bad news, the oft mentioned rumour mill says that Warner Brothers are considering Angelina Jolie for Catwoman in the next movie! :cry_sad:

Yeah... I've rather given up on getting more Castle sets as well. Save for one of each Battle Pack, and a couple of Impulse sets that is. Oh, and the Advent Calendar, got to have my Lego Advent Calendar.

But Lego still comes before comics. I don't buy many DVDs anyway, so that's not really a problem. And what with my CEs, I can get my regular comic fix, well, regularly.

Oh, any excuse...

Seriously though, it's okay. As long as it gets done sometime. I need to time to get ahead again anyway. Just don't take too long or I'll have to delay publication and rename myself DC...

But at least you've got you're stuff. I can't get Vol.3 yet, as it's only available on Region 1. I think we're Region 2 over here, and I've not got a universal DVD player.

Is that the one from Dini's recent run? The one where he kidnaps Robin? Because if it is, Ive read it, and it is quite good.

Thanks, I think tan is definitely the way to go. I want to have Bruce and Tim's room of course as well, so I need to know what Tim would have there.

I'm not sure we've seen inside Tim's room yet, but I know I've got some shots of his old room (when he still lived with his dad) from War Games and such, so I can look at his possessions there.

Yeah... that's exactly what I thought. No way we could make anything that big. Still, we do our best with what we've got.

I think I might make a Wayne Manor as well, to go on top of my Batcave. Of course, you can make yours first, because I'm nice like that. And I need to finish the Batcave first. I have made a Joker card though...

Oh, and bad news, the oft mentioned rumour mill says that Warner Brothers are considering Angelina Jolie for Catwoman in the next movie! :cry_sad:

What? Ugh...

Everyone says she's the 'sexiest woman in the world' but honestly, I just don't see it myself. Doesn't tend to go down well whenever I say that...

Lookin like no batman nextyear :cry_sad:.

I'm not so sure. If the list is true, there are only two Indy sets out in January, with six more to follow later. That suggests it's either a Jan 09 list, or it's far from complete. Especially with the game coming out, I think it very unlikely we won't see at least some Batman next year.

Yeah, the advent calender will be hard to resist frankly. I might get it

Point being though, is that I'm trying to do things differently in order to have some spare cash for less important things, or as other people foolishly call them: "more important things"

But Lego still comes before comics. I don't buy many DVDs anyway, so that's not really a problem. And what with my CEs, I can get my regular comic fix, well, regularly.

I don't know, recently it's changing for me, comics and Bat-DVDs are taking a front. Still, Lego will always be there, and I'm currently planning on a huge Gotham project.

Speaking of, do oyu think Batman 89 and Batman Returns are worth picking up?

Seriously though, it's okay. As long as it gets done sometime. I need to time to get ahead again anyway. Just don't take too long or I'll have to delay publication and rename myself DC...

Thanks, I'll try soon, as I have spare time.

Oh that sucks, I never understood the region thing but the fact that it isn't available in your format is frankly pathetic.

Is that the one from Dini's recent run? The one where he kidnaps Robin? Because if it is, Ive read it, and it is quite good.

Yes, I very much like it. Especially the way it explores Joker's comedic interests. Most writers or hacks as I call them tend to think ANOTHER origin story or a tale about his Batman fetish will explore him, but Dini once again proves the little things do it all with Joker's love of the Marx Brothers :cry_happy:

I'm not sure we've seen inside Tim's room yet, but I know I've got some shots of his old room (when he still lived with his dad) from War Games and such, so I can look at his possessions there.

Thanks, I'm going to guess on most things, and the design of course will be mine. The trick will be making it seem old.

What? Ugh...

Everyone says she's the 'sexiest woman in the world' but honestly, I just don't see it myself. Doesn't tend to go down well whenever I say that...

Thank goodness someone agrees with me. She is famous yes, but oh please no OH PLEASE NO don't put her in a Batman movie, especially not as Catwoman. If the character was to be onscreen, lets just hope they don't go with the ridiculous Year One prostitute story, blech!

Substitute it for something else. Buy the Advent Calendar instead of another set, of about the same value. I think I've managed to convince myself that I don't need the City one as well though.

I don't know, recently it's changing for me, comics and Bat-DVDs are taking a front. Still, Lego will always be there, and I'm currently planning on a huge Gotham project.

There are an awful lot of comics I want as well. It's really not good. However, I'll get round to them eventually.

Gotham project, eh? Sounds neat.

Speaking of, do oyu think Batman 89 and Batman Returns are worth picking up?

I got the four-film boxset a few years ago (for a birthday, I think). I'm not as big a fan of those films as I perhaps should be, but I guess they're still a good watch. Mostly.

Oh that sucks, I never understood the region thing but the fact that it isn't available in your format is frankly pathetic.

I think I can get my DVD player chipped to accept all regions, but that costs quite a bit. And I'd have to get it done on every DVD player I'm likely to watch them on.

You know, I actually felt a little bit sorry for Joker when he was defeated at the end. I mean, sure, he kidnapped Robin and murdered a family, but still.

Thanks, I'm going to guess on most things, and the design of course will be mine. The trick will be making it seem old.

I'll get back to you on the Batcave entrances soon, I'm in a bit of a rush right now.

Great! I knew you'd come round, how did you make a Joker card? Lego?

No actually, I found this website. The classic Joker card is really nice, so I used that one. I printed it off, making sure it was the right size, and stuck it on some sketch pad paper I found, and it's pretty sturdy. It's ever so slightly bigger (like, really slightly) than a real playing card.

Thank goodness someone agrees with me. She is famous yes, but oh please no OH PLEASE NO don't put her in a Batman movie, especially not as Catwoman. If the character was to be onscreen, lets just hope they don't go with the ridiculous Year One prostitute story, blech!

I wouldn't mind if they went for that angle, but I would mind if they went for that angle with Jolie. I don't find her a particularly good actress either. Hmm... you know how Catwoman is always surrounded by cats? Well... maybe we could rename the character for Jolie: Orphanwoman.

I reckon there'll be more, I really hope there are. Are you getting any Pirates sets?

Yeah, so do I. I think I may have to get some of the Pirates stuff, yeah. Some of the sets really do look great. I think some of the City stuff might be on the cards as well. When I was young, I had a real fascination with farm machinery and equipment. Stuff the animals, they didn't interest me at all, but the machinery...

So I think I might have to at least get the tractor, so I can reconnect with that part of my childhood. :cry_happy:

Good thinking, I need to do that. More importantly, I need the spiderman Dock Ock transformation set than any other smaller set, as that has the awesome gangster suit print and a perfect head for Lucius Fox.

There are an awful lot of comics I want as well. It's really not good. However, I'll get round to them eventually.

Same here. And you always hit a crossroads you know? Like for me, I can't decide on whether to get the classic/famous ones(Killing Joke, Hush), or the larger collections (all 5 volumes of No Man's Land) or Batman's early years (Haunted Knight, Man Who Laughs, Monster Men). For now I'm going with the early years, I really should of collected these earlier.

Gotham project, eh? Sounds neat.

Thanks, I'll tell you what I have planned. I've done GCPD and the Iceberg Lounge. Modding is for Arkham and Batcave, both heavily. I am planning obviously on Wanye Manor next, and after that there is Bab's Watchtower, Mr.Freeze's Ice Lab, Ivy's greenhouse, Gotham Bank and maybe Joker's park, though that will be hard. All of thswe will be of varying sizes, the sad part being, I'll have ot take apart my giant temple to make them, can I do that? :cry_sad:

I'm not either, though I like the Burton atmosphere even if I find his goth fetish annoying. do you think the earlier two alone are worth it? A couple of my friends and I are palnning on watching Batman and Robin one night to see how far we can get. I know the butchering of my greatest hero will be hardest on me. speaking of Bat movies, seen Gotham /Knight yet?

I think I can get my DVD player chipped to accept all regions, but that costs quite a bit. And I'd have to get it done on every DVD player I'm likely to watch them on.

Ah, do oyu know when the other two volumes became available for an estimate?

You know, I actually felt a little bit sorry for Joker when he was defeated at the end. I mean, sure, he kidnapped Robin and murdered a family, but still.

Me a bit too, I like that he didn't kill the kids though, most writers would just choose to do so because child killing = good dark storytelling apparently. I would like to see a story where Joker's gag literally is too just "hang out" though, and every attempt to stop him is actually harming others, with the irony being that he is actually being benign the whole time. That would be classic.

I'll get back to you on the Batcave entrances soon, I'm in a bit of a rush right now.

Thanks.

That's really cool, I might try that, Lego Mosaics are too hard. It could be stuck onto bricks though maybe.

I wouldn't mind if they went for that angle, but I would mind if they went for that angle with Jolie. I don't find her a particularly good actress either. Hmm... you know how Catwoman is always surrounded by cats? Well... maybe we could rename the character for Jolie: Orphanwoman.

You actually like the prostitute angle? Blech again, that is one of the major reasons I find Year One to be so overrated. Miller being outrageous for the sake of being outrageous said Tim Sale of that, and I agree.

Yeah, so do I. I think I may have to get some of the Pirates stuff, yeah. Some of the sets really do look great. I think some of the City stuff might be on the cards as well. So I think I might have to at least get the tractor, so I can reconnect with that part of my childhood. :cry_happy:

I'll definitely try and snag most of them, I love the pirates feel. Plus the animals fit right into Agents so well.

Can't wait to see the Indy sets and hopefully the Batman ones.

I just buy the ones I want when I want. I'll get them all sometime anyway. I need to get Watchmen before the film though, I've given up getting it from the library. And DV of course.

Thanks, I'll tell you what I have planned. I've done GCPD and the Iceberg Lounge. Modding is for Arkham and Batcave, both heavily. Sounds good. I honestly haven't got the room to make any more Gotham buildings, sadly. Just Arkham and the Batcave/Wayne Manor.

Um... no, not yet. Thing is, there isn't a good place to get DVDs anywhere near me. At all. So I have to actually be going somewhere before I can get them, I can't just nip into town and pick something up. :hmpf:

As for the films... I presonally wouldn't get them unless I found them on offer. I'm not really a film watcher anyway, and I'm no a big enough fan of those two to justify getting them at full price. But if they were on offer, then I'd get them.

Ah, do oyu know when the other two volumes became available for an estimate?

They were both released as exclusive to one individual store chain in October 2005 and August 2006 respectively. But Vol.1 was rerelased as a non-exclusive (but exactly the same) June 2008. With any luck, I'm hopeful Vol.3 will appear soon.

Oh, I like that.

It could be stuck onto bricks though maybe.

I think it looks better made like a real card. I'm not sure how I'll put it in the Batcave yet though, whether I'll stand it up or put it on the cave wall somehow.

You actually like the prostitute angle? Blech again, that is one of the major reasons I find Year One to be so overrated. Miller being outrageous for the sake of being outrageous said Tim Sale of that, and I agree.

This is far from a complete reveal thankfully, there's Star Wars to come as well. Batman's more likely to be Summer anyway, we may not see pictures till later on.

They do all look pretty good though. I only ever had two Pirate sets when I was younger. One of the ships, and a small raft that was one of my two first sets, along with a small Castle catapult. I'm still trying to track them down though, see what they look like, as my parents didn't keep the boxes or the instructions.

You sure make it sound easy! luckily, I got four hours of work this week, then I was called to extend my Saturday shift by two hours, and just a while ago was asked to do a three hour shift tomorrow! Woo, nine hours! Which is great, seeing as a while ago I was getting a measly 2-3 hours a week. This means at this current rate comics and BTAS vol 4 will be a breeze. I think I'll get Haunted Knight next to complete the "Tim Sale/Jeph Loeb quadrilogy". Then The Man Who Laughs.

I need to buy Watchmen too, but I can wait, the movie isn't exciting so much as a I tend to agree with Alan Moore that it is rather "unfilmable".

Sounds good. I honestly haven't got the room to make any more Gotham buildings, sadly. Just Arkham and the Batcave/Wayne Manor.

Hmmh, that'll be good enough though right? Still, today I shaped out the basic look of Ivy's greenhouse. I want to do that first now, but realise it's just because Wayne Manor is so daunting! Thing is though, with more Indy sets means morel likely much more tan, and if there are a few sets like Akator I might wait out for that to make the manor bigger. Better in the long run right? At this stage however I am going ahead with it.

Um... no, not yet. Thing is, there isn't a good place to get DVDs anywhere near me. At all. So I have to actually be going somewhere before I can get them, I can't just nip into town and pick something up. :hmpf:

That sucks, you live in London right?

As for the films... I presonally wouldn't get them unless I found them on offer. I'm not really a film watcher anyway, and I'm no a big enough fan of those two to justify getting them at full price. But if they were on offer, then I'd get them.

Good point, I guess I'm kinda desperate to have a lot more Bat-merchandise - I'm hooked. I'll rewatch them first to make up my mind, although I am a bigger fan of movies than you.

Which reminds me, I need to order Justice League: The New Frontier.

They were both released as exclusive to one individual store chain in October 2005 and August 2006 respectively. But Vol.1 was rerelased as a non-exclusive (but exactly the same) June 2008. With any luck, I'm hopeful Vol.3 will appear soon.

Ah, hopefully. In the meantime you have volumes 1 and 2 atleast. What about 4? Or Mask of the Phantasm? Are they available in your region?

Oh, I like that.

You know, sometimes I think I could write better stories than them. Seriously, the recent Joker's Asylum run was such a waste of potential. Joker boringly narrates a story for each inmate including himself and ends it with a joke. What a waste! If I was to do it, I'd have Joker be twisting the stories, including cameos of himself as the other villains "hero", and make him kill Batman in his own story before admitting: "Okay okay! I'm lying! What really happened was I got my face smashed in!"

I think it looks better made like a real card. I'm not sure how I'll put it in the Batcave yet though, whether I'll stand it up or put it on the cave wall somehow.

Good point, i'll definitely add that sometime, thanks for the link again. Don't like their Two-Face coin though, I'll make my own.

Not really, but I can see why it was used in Year One, as it fit in with the tone of the story.

I disagree, it has to fit the tone of the Batmythos, not your own., and Miller sucks at that, a lot. I mean, I can accept it, but why not just have her as a poorer person inspired much the same way? It makes even MORE sense than some random prostitute, as Batman is trying to inspire the people who's life has been made horrible by gangs, not servicing them so.....eh.....willingly.

This is far from a complete reveal thankfully, there's Star Wars to come as well. Batman's more likely to be Summer anyway, we may not see pictures till later on.

I know, Star wars is in now. I don't get much, but I'll definitely get the clone Battlepack as I don't have any clones, and more importantly I LOOOOVE those equipment pieces. The assassin droid pack I mgiht get as well, for all those shiny silver pieces

Can't wait to see the Batsets, nor the Castle ones. We seem to get the pics earlier every year huh?

They do all look pretty good though. I only ever had two Pirate sets when I was younger. One of the ships, and a small raft that was one of my two first sets, along with a small Castle catapult. I'm still trying to track them down though, see what they look like, as my parents didn't keep the boxes or the instructions.

I barely have any pirate sets, though i do love the Islanders. Loving the bits though, that "Kraken" will go great alongside the Agents one, as will the crocodiles and shark. Or the other way round too.

Glad to see you're not lounging around like someone here...

In related news, I helped out at college on Thursday and Friday. It was GCSE results day, and they asked some of the students to come in and help with the enrolment. And I got £40 for it. I think I might treat myself to the Volcano Base this afternoon.

I need to buy Watchmen too, but I can wait, the movie isn't exciting so much as a I tend to agree with Alan Moore that it is rather "unfilmable".

I can't really comment on that, without having read it, but visually at least the film looks superb.

Hmmh, that'll be good enough though right? Still, today I shaped out the basic look of Ivy's greenhouse. I want to do that first now, but realise it's just because Wayne Manor is so daunting! In that case, I've got even longer to make my list. I'm getting there, but like I said, I've been quite busy recently.

That sucks, you live in London right?

Oh God, no. Northern and pround of it.

No, I live in a town in East Lancashire, relatively near Manchester (about an hours drive). On the Pennines. In fact, Olympic cyclist Steven Burke is from a town about 10 minutes away from where I live. I think he went to the same college I'm at now.

Ah, hopefully. In the meantime you have volumes 1 and 2 atleast. What about 4? Or Mask of the Phantasm? Are they available in your region?

No, no Vol.4 either, but I believe MOTP is out. Next time I'm in the DVD shop perhaps.

I managed to pick up the 60s film for £5 the other day. Great find. There's also a Batmobile featurette on there I might watch sometime.

In related news, this weeks Batman episodes are nothing to write home about, but last weeks were possibly the funniest I've seen. King Tut's Coup and Batman's Waterloo. Seriously, watch them, they're great. See if you can work out who's playing Lisa Carson. We didn't until the very last scene. I thought "Is that...?" then decided it couldn't be. But it was! Watch out also for the Riddler's boxes showing up in the fight scene, a named mention of Babs, and Alfred being ridiculous in part 2.

I have managed to find time to watch a slew of BTAS episodes as well. Dreams In Darkness was great. But Batman mad? Surely not...

Eternal Youth was quite good as well. Ivy looks a lot more, well, feminine here. Plus Alfred gets to do something, so that's always good. Perchance to Dream was very good. Batman is such a big part of his life, there's no way he can escape him. Batman needs Bruce, and Bruce needs Batman. Plus there was that "I was willing to give you any life you wanted, just to keep you out of mine" line.

The Cape and the Cowl Conspiracy wasn't anything special really. But the Bat-signal was there...

Robin's Reckoning was very good, both parts. The dialogue and credits put Dick at what, 18 or 19 now? The Bat-cycle is impossibly cool as well. Here's something interesting: Tony Zucco is voiced by a guy called Thomas Wilson. Strangely, one of my mates is called Thomas Wilson.

You know what? I think The Laughing Fish is one of my favourite episodes so far. Seriously, it's that good. Night of the Ninja was alright. Nothing more really. It was nice to see some early training, and of course the cracks are starting in the Bruce/Dick relationship. Interestingly, Dick was really quite bothered when Bruce went off on his own in Robin's Reckoning, but was merely mildly annoyed here.

You know, that's what I thought it'd be, but I assume it's not from what you say. Damn... this sounded good.

Good point, i'll definitely add that sometime, thanks for the link again. Don't like their Two-Face coin though, I'll make my own.

I agree on the coin. Need to think of a good way to do it.

Yeah, I guess. At least it's not been mentioned much since.

I know, Star wars is in now. I don't get much, but I'll definitely get the clone Battlepack as I don't have any clones, and more importantly I LOOOOVE those equipment pieces. The assassin droid pack I mgiht get as well, for all those shiny silver pieces

Indeed. The walker may be crap, but the figs make up for it. And the pieces will no doubt be useful somewhere.

Can't wait to see the Batsets, nor the Castle ones. We seem to get the pics earlier every year huh?

You know, I was just thinking that. It's August! Normally we have to wait until at least October for pics. Not complaining though.

Congrats on the Fellow thing, btw.

Right... now I'm off to read through your edits.

Sorry, I've been quite busy. I'm ack now though.

"Ack" now? What is that? Some kind of sickness?

In related news, I helped out at college on Thursday and Friday. It was GCSE results day, and they asked some of the students to come in and help with the enrolment. And I got £40 for it. I think I might treat myself to the Volcano Base this afternoon.

Great! Looking forward to hearing your opinions on it. Have you seen Deep Sea Quest? Also good to see you're not entirely lazy.

I can't really comment on that, without having read it, but visually at least the film looks superb.

I agree visually it looks amazing, but I'm still not sure...

In that case, I've got even longer to make my list. I'm getting there, but like I said, I've been quite busy recently.

What list sorry? A Lego list is it?

Oh God, no. Northern and pround of it.

No, I live in a town in East Lancashire, relatively near Manchester (about an hours drive). On the Pennines. In fact, Olympic cyclist Steven Burke is from a town about 10 minutes away from where I live. I think he went to the same college I'm at now.

Ah, I see, nice. I guess London would be a little crowded eh? Steve Burke huh? Well Don Bradman lived about 40 minutes away from me once! (Of course this was not at the same time, by the time we were there he was elsewhere)

No, no Vol.4 either, but I believe MOTP is out. Next time I'm in the DVD shop perhaps.

I managed to pick up the 60s film for £5 the other day. Great find. There's also a Batmobile featurette on there I might watch sometime.

Perhaps. Speaking of which, I also got the 60s film! Oh goodness, I've never laughed so hard in my life. Gotta love Adam West too: "Of course! Of what use is a dream if not a blueprint for courageous action!"

And final fight of the sub was ridiculous, half of the crew are just jumping off! Love the brave porpoise too.

Nice, I'll definitely check them out, but in chronological order from season one of course. I'm almost finished the Twilight Zone, so I'll be on it shortly.

What I liked about Eternal Youth is that it showed that as a person Ivy would much rather have her way entirely by means of revenge than to simply meet in the middle. She had a way to regrow plants and trees but she would not stop until they were no longer cut down, as opposed to just making quick regrowth. Now that's nuts.

Perchance to Dream is one of my all time favourites, a brilliant turn with Mad Hatter (one of the few villains done better here than in the comics) and the whole exploration of Bruce Wayne too. Did you notice when he embraced his parents the BTAS tune played, but in a far lighter, happier and somewhat dreamier fashion?

The Cape and the Cowl Conspiracy wasn't anything special really. But the Bat-signal was there...

It was based off a comic though, I believe it was the "Cape and Cowl Reckoning". I agree it was nothing great but I liked the twist at the end.

Great eps those two. That is a strange coincedence, almost as strange as discovering my best friend lives at the house I lived in when I was 1 or 2.

Laughing Fish is amazing, I have the comic and the copyright scene is nearly word for word. I liked Night of the Ninja, Dick was less angry probably because this was not right in the middle of a mission.

Yeah, I guess. At least it's not been mentioned much since.

Thank goodness.

Indeed. The walker may be crap, but the figs make up for it. And the pieces will no doubt be useful somewhere.

Definitely, the Neck part will be great as Batman's neck brace against the Hangman in Dark Victory. The guns will be useful for mobs as they don't look too futuristic, and the rest I'll find some use for. I want ot get the Assassin one too simply for that silver

Congrats on the Fellow thing, btw.

Thanks very much!

Right... now I'm off to read through your edits.

Edits?

Anyway, I also picked up Arkham Asylum: Living Hell at Birchalls in town? Have you read it?

Btw, I sent tohse edited drafts too.

"Ack" now? What is that? Some kind of sickness?

Quiet you!

Great! Looking forward to hearing your opinions on it. Have you seen Deep Sea Quest? Also good to see you're not entirely lazy.

It's a wonderful set, frankly. The inside is a little sparse, but it's nothing a little MODing can't fix (speaking of, I really must get round to MODing the others as well). The door doesn't look quite as face-y in the flesh. All those trans orange pieces look really cool (or should that be hot?), and dark brown really is such a nice colour. The figs are all neat, and it frees up a Doctor Inferno for a display mini-vig.

Deep Sea Quest is out here, but at £5 over-priced in the only shop it's available in, I might order it sometime. But I think I'll try and get the Bat-sets first, which still aren't out in the shops!

I'm in college again on Monday, but I don't know if we get paid this time (I assume we do). The new first years start back on Monday, and everyone else starts on Tuesday. They need people there on Monday to direct students. Funny thing is though, we've got two new buildings, so we don't know where where we're going either.

What list sorry? A Lego list is it?

The list of Wayne Manor features. You asked for help, so I'm going to do it properly.

Ah, I see, nice. I guess London would be a little crowded eh?

Especially as a think tank issued a report a couple of weeks ago that basically said that the North was rubbish and poor, and everyone should move down South instead.

Steve Burke huh?

There was a wonderful photo in the local paper this week of a parade thing that his home town put on through the streets, to honour him and celebrate his return. Great photo... spoilt only by the bus in the background that was waiting for the road to be reopened.

Oh, that was a horrible line.

And what about the bit in Gordon's office when they're working out who the villains are this time: "It happened at sea. C for Catwoman."

Favourite line though? "Bless my dustpan!"

Nice, I'll definitely check them out, but in chronological order from season one of course. I'm almost finished the Twilight Zone, so I'll be on it shortly.

Ah, in that case, I might have to do the same, then we can discuss them. All thanks to Youtube (unless you're me, then it's thanks to video recorders).

Did you notice when he embraced his parents the BTAS tune played, but in a far lighter, happier and somewhat dreamier fashion?

I agree with you there, so far at least. I didn't notice the theme tune, but I'll look out for it next time I watch it (I was eating lunch at the time). I just wish Bruce would stop wearing that awful yellow and brown suit...

That is a strange coincedence, almost as strange as discovering my best friend lives at the house I lived in when I was 1 or 2.

:look:

I want ot get the Assassin one too simply for that silver

Exactly. Three silver droids means lots of silver (plus there'll be spares). Silver always looks good.

Edits?

Btw, I sent tohse edited drafts too.

Answered your own question there.

Anyway, I also picked up Arkham Asylum: Living Hell at Birchalls in town? Have you read it?

Yeah, I managed to get it a while ago for something like £2.99 or £3.99. It's a good read, especially the Humpty Dumpty bits (in fact, I read it on the coach on the way down to Cambridge University with college). Plus it's always nice to see more of Arkham in any way we can get it. And it was on offer.

I agree, so much fun. The inside isn't the main point though, I'll mod it sometime, but for now I'm trying to reserve a lot of parts. That dark brown is a wonderful colour too, I'll have to take them off temporarily for an IA moc. Are you going to keep Fire Arm as he is? I know I will, but I have him holding the scope to make the gun shorter. Also, that chopper in the set will likely be the only thing I take apart, I love the pieces but the final product takes up too much space really.

Deep Sea Quest is out here, but at £5 over-priced in the only shop it's available in, I might order it sometime. But I think I'll try and get the Bat-sets first, which still aren't out in the shops!

Definitely get it though, then you can say you got them all this year! Goodluck finding the Batsets, and anything else too, seems your shops never get stocked with anything, be it Lego, DVDs or in the library's case the truly great graphic novels.

I'm in college again on Monday, but I don't know if we get paid this time (I assume we do). The new first years start back on Monday, and everyone else starts on Tuesday. They need people there on Monday to direct students. Funny thing is though, we've got two new buildings, so we don't know where where we're going either.

Nice, hope you get paid. I directed students to my school earlier, even though I wasn't meant to my friends were and asked me along anyway. We made fun of the school, told a whole bunch of bluff and lies and got some nice fruit and chips at the end

The list of Wayne Manor features. You asked for help, so I'm going to do it properly.

Ah, I see, thanks. The red phone is a must, even if I have to paint it. I just feel that wayne Manor is such a giant project that rushing it would be a stupid idea, I want to capture the proper scale, and ultimately if that means I'll have to wait another year to get enough parts so be it, I'll make my villains locations in the meantime. Or the Bab's clocktower just for you :sweet:

Especially as a think tank issued a report a couple of weeks ago that basically said that the North was rubbish and poor, and everyone should move down South instead.

Wow, why would someone waste time and money for that anyway? Honestly, its like those people that spend millions of dollars to find out how many poor people there are when those dollars could easily have helped those numbers. Did I just liken you to poor people you may ask? Yes. Yes I did

There was a wonderful photo in the local paper this week of a parade thing that his home town put on through the streets, to honour him and celebrate his return. Great photo... spoilt only by the bus in the background that was waiting for the road to be reopened.

Nice, I didn't watch the Olympics though, did you? I'm not exactly a patriotic person, and think that such money spend on a two week event could be spent on much more important things.

Oh, that was a horrible line.

I loved it! Adam West is actually quite a good actor though, it really is a sad moment at the end with Miss Kitka. I reckon he still would've been great if they went with the darker style they originally planned.

And what about the bit in Gordon's office when they're working out who the villains are this time: "It happened at sea. C for Catwoman."

Favourite line though? "Bless my dustpan!"

, those are great. I also love Gorshin's wacky movements when he states he has the perfect plan.

Also at the end: "Let us go Robin....but inconspicuously......through the window", my sister and I laughed so hard at that

Ah, in that case, I might have to do the same, then we can discuss them. All thanks to Youtube (unless you're me, then it's thanks to video recorders).

Definitely, we must set out a devilish scheme! I'm really surprised at just how much Youtube has though, I think they have all of them.

Yes, that was good. She's not right to do it, but then she's perhaps not entirely wrong either.

Yes, you'll see that in later eps too, she is very much a quasi tragic figure in BTAS, like most villains. speaking of which, do you know any good Poison Ivy stories?

I agree with you there, so far at least. I didn't notice the theme tune, but I'll look out for it next time I watch it (I was eating lunch at the time). I just wish Bruce would stop wearing that awful yellow and brown suit...

The Cheap Car Salesmen suit I call it! Watch any more yet?

:look:

True, I was the same. I'd been waiting to see his house for weeks (he can see mine way across from his, but I can't see his house from, mine) and it turns out he lives in my old one!

Exactly. Three silver droids means lots of silver (plus there'll be spares). Silver always looks good.

I had forgotten about the extras, very nice. I really want that silver, it'd be great for a Heart of Steel Vignette.

Answered your own question there.

Oh. Yes

I loved it. I'm not a huge fan of crossovers and supernatural in mainstream Batman comics, but this was simply brilliant. Everything was so well planned out too, how that one piece of glass affected everything. Love Humpty Dumpty too, he was a sad but lovable villain. Dan Slott the writer was a surprise, after his humourous run on She Hulk I didn't know he had it in him, but it was dark. His humour was throughout the story though, that;s what a lot of Batman stories lack nowadays, humour.

I went for the box-art design, like you did, with the shorter gun. I mean, we can't have him holding it out miles in front of him, can we?

The mini-copter... needs some work, I'll be honest. But it has potential, so I'm determined to get it to work.

Definitely get it though, then you can say you got them all this year! Goodluck finding the Batsets, and anything else too, seems your shops never get stocked with anything, be it Lego, DVDs or in the library's case the truly great graphic novels.

We really are the back-end of nowhere up here. UK stock delivery is bad enough, but it reaches all the docks in the south and then sort of doesn't make it up here. Or does, three months late.

Nice, hope you get paid. I directed students to my school earlier, even though I wasn't meant to my friends were and asked me along anyway. We made fun of the school, told a whole bunch of bluff and lies and got some nice fruit and chips at the end

We did. Well, we do. I've not got it yet, because no-one told finance that there were students in that needed paying. :hmpf:

But, considering the large amount of standing around I did today, £20 isn't bad. Seriously, I spent most of today talking to various people, and sneaking round the new buildings. Oh, and flirting. There was a little bit of that as well.

Hang on... fruit and chips? Something healthy, immediately ruined by something not. Not that I can talk, I got a free sausage sandwich today.

I really want to build my own Wayne Manor now, thanks to all this. Of course, I'll have to build my Batcave first. Hardly a small task.

Wow, why would someone waste time and money for that anyway? Honestly, its like those people that spend millions of dollars to find out how many poor people there are when those dollars could easily have helped those numbers. Did I just liken you to poor people you may ask? Yes. Yes I did

Ha, well we are up North. We don't get anything, because the South gets it all. But, the report was good for a laugh, just because it was such a ludicrous waste-of-time.

Nice, I didn't watch the Olympics though, did you? I'm not exactly a patriotic person, and think that such money spend on a two week event could be spent on much more important things.

No, not really. I'm just not into sport at all, of any kind (although I did see some of the weightlifting for some reason). Trouble is, in 4 years time, it'll be impossible for me to avoid it. It'll be everywhere, all over the TV, in all the papers, on the streets. Wait... in 4 years time I'll just be finishing Uni. God, that's scary.

I loved it! Adam West is actually quite a good actor though, it really is a sad moment at the end with Miss Kitka. I reckon he still would've been great if they went with the darker style they originally planned.

, those are great. I also love Gorshin's wacky movements when he states he has the perfect plan.

Also at the end: "Let us go Robin....but inconspicuously......through the window", my sister and I laughed so hard at that

No, it's a good line. But only in context. No one would actually say that really... ever. And like you say, at the end: "Holy heartbreak!"

"I know the perfect victim, I know the perfect victim, I know the perfect victim... Bruce Wayne."

And of course, old judgemental Batman was back: "They may be drinkers Robin, but they're still human beings." :oh:

Did you notice him taking his glove(s) off to answer the Batphone in the Cave at the end. The first time he stood holding them in a really camp pose, then he threw them over his shoulder! Question is though, why is a pre-atomic submarine equipped with Polaris missiles?

Definitely, we must set out a devilish scheme! I'm really surprised at just how much Youtube has though, I think they have all of them.

It does rather seem that way. Which is good, it means we can (or, you can) celebrate another defining era of Batman properly.

Yes, you'll see that in later eps too, she is very much a quasi tragic figure in BTAS, like most villains. speaking of which, do you know any good Poison Ivy stories?

Um... no. None that I can think of. There's Harley and Ivy (I haven't read it) and she was in Dini's Detective Comics recently (Stalked). Other than that, nothing much springs to mind at the moment, sorry.

The Cheap Car Salesmen suit I call it! Watch any more yet?

 Yes, actually. I watched the next two, Cat Scratch Fever and The Strange Secret of Bruce Wayne. First off, is there anything shifty going on in Gotham that Daggett isn't involved in?! Second, I guessed that was Achilles Milo before the credits revealed it. The other thing I noticed here was that Isis was voiced by Frank Welker. As in Frank "G1 Megatron" Welker. :oh:

Other than that, it was a nice episode. Batman and Catwoman done right, see. Bruce Wayne was very good. It's always nice to see more of the main villains, and Joker was especially good here, particularly his answer phone. "Please leave your message after the scream..."

But... was there anyone that Hugo Strange didn't share his Bruce Wayne is Batman secret with? He blabbed it to everyone!

Oh. Yes

Speaking of, I've sent the final version of #3, and the drafts of #6 and #7 will be winging their way to you shortly for editing.

Oh yes it was, wasn't it. I hadn't noticed that. I've read his recent The Thing run, and let's face it, the two couldn't be much more different. Here's something to do for fun. Go back and read it again, but this time put on a silly, pantomime-style voice for Etrigan's bits. I did it, great fun.

Signed,

Yeah, I'll hold off the mods for a while though, like you displaying is no problem as the front is the selling point of the set. Good choice for the short gun too, it looks cooler in my opinion anyway. The minicopter is going to the scrap for me, too many cool parts. Plus that silver slope, and two 1x1 silver slopes will be very nice to have.

Ha, hope you get your money soon then. Flirting eh? What kind of flirting?

I really want to build my own Wayne Manor now, thanks to all this. Of course, I'll have to build my Batcave first. Hardly a small task.

I knew you'd come round, so predictably fanboyistic of oyu. Of course, as my good friend says: "To be geek is to be human" :cry_happy:

I'll definitely put it off for now, I really want to make Wayne Manor an achievement, and at the moment that can't happen. I want it to be huge and grand, so for onw i'm moving on to Poison Ivy's greenhouse. What else places are there to make? I want to do Freeze's laboratory with Nora too.

I'm not into sport in the least either, I don't even have a football team! My teacher now calls me "A horrible cynical unpatriotic little man" now

Although I'm a champ at Table tennis. Personally, I find the Olympics a waste of time and money.

Did you notice him taking his glove(s) off to answer the Batphone in the Cave at the end. The first time he stood holding them in a really camp pose, then he threw them over his shoulder! Question is though, why is a pre-atomic submarine equipped with Polaris missiles?

No I didn't see that, I'll watch and see it sometime,

Funny thing, just after watching the movie the second time there was a nuclear documentary on tv regarding missiles, and that exact same precise footage came on!

That is one of my favourite bits though:

"Did we do anything wrong Batman?"

"You sold a pre atomic military submarine to a man who didn't even leave his address! Good day Commander"

It does rather seem that way. Which is good, it means we can (or, you can) celebrate another defining era of Batman properly.

It also means I can relive all my favourite childhood shows. I'm definitely near that ponit I promise you, I'm in the fourth season of five of The Twilight Zone and this is the longest part as it is the maligned "hour episode" season. Though I did watch a clip of Batman the other day of Robin catching a batarang with his teeth after being thrown off a building with his hands tied, and was promptly lifted up. Holy jaws of steel!

Um... no. None that I can think of. There's Harley and Ivy (I haven't read it) and she was in Dini's Detective Comics recently (Stalked). Other than that, nothing much springs to mind at the moment, sorry.

Apparently she is good in No Man's Land, I really want to read the rest of that arc, I love what they did with Two-Face. I need to get Mad Love too, you read that?

Cat Scratch Fever I hate because of the awful animation, dear goodness it is terrible. One minute Batman is normal, the next he has the body of Bane times two, then he is a shapeless blob!

I love Joker's answering phone too, a nice but sadistic touch that it wasn't him screaming too. I love the Junior Kruchy Cereal Air Commando badge he wears whilst flying the plane. A nice reference to the Neal Adams days with the ending too. Hugo Strange sharing the secret is based off Strange Apparitions, a wonderful collection by Steve Engelhart.

Speaking of, I've sent the final version of #3, and the drafts of #6 and #7 will be winging their way to you shortly for editing.

Thanks, I'll check them out sometime.

I did it a little in first place, there are quite a few rhymers in the story, I love Humpty though, so cute in an innocent and incredibly obese way, with those stubby little legs

I lent this comic to my friend under the codename "The Package" (We're great lovers of movie espionage) because he read a little in class and loved it. I told him he wouldn't understand the end though and he wouldn't like it but he didn't give in. Deep down I think he'll like it though, he is also borrowing BTAS, so I am turning him to comics side

Speaking of comics, I went into Birchalls yesterday and spied Gotham Central: Unresolved Targets for sale. I bought it not long after, and loved it a lot. Have you read it or any of the Gotham Central series? It centers completely around the MCU of Gotham City with a cast of largely unkowns with only cameo appearances from Batman. Joker is very badass in this, he is what Heath's Joker could've and should've been: A funny, psychopathic and dark clown that still has the permanent features and dapper look while retaining a sadistic playful side. Infact, Gotham Central itself is how BB and TDK should've gone with their realism, a gritty and grounded but never fully realistic environment pitting ordinary people against extraordinary.

My mother is also ordering Haunted Knight for me tomorrow, so all is well in the comics so far. Funny that it took me so long ot start collecting TPBs, it seems so stupid looking back, trying to find all the stories scanned on the net.

Signed,

P. N. Guin

Oh dear!

I agree regards the gun arm. The minicopter works as an idea, and could be worse... but let's face it, it could be a lot better. I need to MOD the other Agents sets as well, get rid of some of the bits I don't like so much, tidy them up a bit. Especially as I've not seen many Agents MODs surface yet (if any), so I can do something that's entirely my own.

That, and I really like MODing.

Ha, hope you get your money soon then. Flirting eh? What kind of flirting?

Picked it up yestersday. Not sure what to buy yet.

And for once, this really was flirting. One of the other helpers became the butt of everyone's jokes because he tried to chat up every girl that walked past him (unsuccessfully). The rest of us weren't quite that bad, but we gave it a go. Everyone noticed me flirting with another helper for most of the day. I surprised myself really, I'd only met her once before, and there I was chatting away.

The strangest bit of the day was when I leant her my jacket because she was cold. Not an unusual thing to do normally, but it was unusual for me to do it. I have mild OCD (it does seem to be getting worse though), and as a result don't like people touching my things. You know, my things my way. So to lend out my jacket was really odd.

She was quite nice though...

Yeah... it was pretty inevitable wasn't it? And I might have to use that quote, it's rather nice.

I sense my Wayne Manor will be somewhat unimpressive. I need to get a couple of brick buckets or something, replenish my 'wall bricks', I'm running out! Add to that the fact that it has to go on top of the Batcave, which can only occupy half the top shelf. It also has to accomodate the Batplane, huge as it is.

What else places are there to make? I want to do Freeze's laboratory with Nora too.

Yes, do Freeze's lab. Other Gotham landmarks? Off the top of my head: hideouts for the villains, like the Joker's carnival and Riddler's detective agency. Then there's Haley's circus, the ACE Chemical plant, the Wayne penthouse, the clocktower, the sewers, Blackgate (or Stonegate), Gotham University, Brentwood Academy, Crime Alley/Park Row, the docks/Tricorner, Robinson Park, various bridges including the Sprang Bridge, Jack Drake's house, Gotham Memorial hospital, various museums... that enough for you?

My teacher now calls me "A horrible cynical unpatriotic little man" now

Although I'm a champ at Table tennis.

Yeah? Whenever we did table tennis at school we just messed around.

Funny thing, just after watching the movie the second time there was a nuclear documentary on tv regarding missiles, and that exact same precise footage came on!

Oh, that is awesome. At one point, the footage had obviously been flipped because the POLARIS was written backwards. But no matter. It doesn't detract from the awesomeness that is the Riddler's Polaris sky-writer.

We've forgotten something else: the brilliantly hidden Batcycle. Hidden behind two tree cuttings and a dandelion. :look:

Though I did watch a clip of Batman the other day of Robin catching a batarang with his teeth after being thrown off a building with his hands tied, and was promptly lifted up. Holy jaws of steel!

I remember that! That was really the point where it started to slide into the realms of bizarre.

Watched the second part of this weeks episodes tonight, Pop Goes The Joker and Flop Goes The Joker. The Joker turns to art, Alfred turns to art, Gordon and O'Hara sleep in the office and Bruce Wayne gets in on the Bat-fight (again). But the best bit was the end, where... well, I won't spoil it for you, but it's really good. I strongly suggest you check it out: swords, Shakespeare and strangeness.

Apparently she is good in No Man's Land, I really want to read the rest of that arc, I love what they did with Two-Face. I need to get Mad Love too, you read that?

I believe she took over Robinson Park. You know, I don't think I've ever seen NML anywhere, either in a shop or in the library. No, that's not true, I think I've seen Vol.5 once. But only once.

Mad Love, no. I've never seen that anywhere either. Seriously, we're forgotten over here.

Cat Scratch Fever I hate because of the awful animation, dear goodness it is terrible. One minute Batman is normal, the next he has the body of Bane times two, then he is a shapeless blob!

Really? I didn't notice, because (once again) I was eating at the time. Seriously, is that all I ever do?

Thanks, I'll check them out sometime.

Just need to actually finish writing #7. Then I'll send them for editing.

Deep down I think he'll like it though, he is also borrowing BTAS, so I am turning him to comics side

You know, lonely as it is being the only IRL comic geek I know, I wouldn't change it. To be honest, I like being different, and I can impress (that's the word is it?) people with my in-depth knowledge. Besides, I couldn't cope knowing someone too similar to me.

I don't think I've read Unresolved Targets, but I have read Quick and the Dead, and I think I may have read Dead Robin, but I'm not sure. I probably haven't if I can't remember. They're good reads, I agree. I need to see if I can find the others, but I'm not holding out much hope.

My mother is also ordering Haunted Knight for me tomorrow, so all is well in the comics so far.

There was a brilliant Spy Clops chopper mod to make it more normal people accessible. I really like modding too, I think the U99 was my best work.

The strangest bit of the day was when I leant her my jacket because she was cold. Not an unusual thing to do normally, but it was unusual for me to do it. Huh, good job, you may prosper yet. Or fail, we comic geeks know a lot about failing. the girl I'm interested in is all over the place. She's going to Queensland now for a week and a half for holidays and then apparently from the newspaper Gallipoli for winning a competition!

Have you made the Batplane? Or Batwing for that matter? (one seater)

Highlighted the ones that actually matter and weren't you just tying to sound cool ()

I'd love to make Crime Alley one day but to be frank, I'd have to make all of Park Row, and that'd mean a full Gotham city. Which i'd also love ot be frank, I really want to slowly create this city, which is why some locations won't be done sooner as they are a bit "out there" for the actual city. I plan on Gotham Bank too using the Spiderman Doc Ock's Hideout windows. Definitely do Mr.Freezes lab as you say, I don't know about bricks though...

Yeah? Whenever we did table tennis at school we just messed around.

My awesomeness at Table tennis is rivalled only by my little brother's skill, we are pretty much even.

Oh, that is awesome. At one point, the footage had obviously been flipped because the POLARIS was written backwards. But no matter. It doesn't detract from the awesomeness that is the Riddler's Polaris sky-writer.

I love that, the footage is it going straight up and then suddenly you get this corny riddle!

We've forgotten something else: the brilliantly hidden Batcycle. Hidden behind two tree cuttings and a dandelion. :look:

Ah yes, complete with the most pointless use of an ejecting side car ever used in film!

I remember that! That was really the point where it started to slide into the realms of bizarre.

Yes, she had the orphans I believe. They have all five volumes at Birchalls here. Looks like a nice story, I'll be sure ot get it sometime.

Mad Love, no. I've never seen that anywhere either. Seriously, we're forgotten over here.

The episode is very good, I've read a few panels of the comic and want to get it some day.

Good point, but I think I like bringing people to it more. Think about it, isn't it so much better to have people who actually care and are interested in the source material? My good friend will turn, oh yes, he will turn! :skull:

I don't think I've read Unresolved Targets, but I have read Quick and the Dead, and I think I may have read Dead Robin, but I'm not sure. I probably haven't if I can't remember. They're good reads, I agree. I need to see if I can find the others, but I'm not holding out much hope.

You know, Eckhart and Nolan confirmed Two-Face was dead recently, which sucks. As great as TDK was, and a great arc for Dent, they truly did waste Two-Face.

That's excellent news. I've been getting tired of hearing fan arguements about how Two-Face isn't really dead. That sort of thing is fine in comics and tv series, but would seem out of place here, given the approach that Nolan has taken to the material.

As great as TDK was, and a great arc for Dent, they truly did waste Two-Face.

He would've been wasted if TDK were say a tv series; but as a one-shot movie character he was brilliantly handled. A lot of filmakers would've turned Harvey into Two-Face 20 minutes into the film or started with Two-Face right off the bat and only alluded to the fact that he used to be someone named Harvey Dent. That would give us a lot more Two-Face, but most likely a less interesting story.

Two-Face is dead! Long live the next villain to be given the Nolan-verse treatment! (unless of course, they die at the end of the film).

Massive disagreement here, Two-Face is literally Batman's second most frequent and deadly enemy, not to mention one of the most diverse, interesting and realistic villains. The fact that we never got a chance to even touch upon his Two-Face psychosis in TDK was a waste, plus he would be the perfect enemy in the third film, killing off the gangsters like in Dark Victory, which would not only consolidate the "freaks" taking over but a perfect mirror for a Batman like vigilante gone wrong. It was set up so perfect yet now not only has one of the greatest villains in comic history pulled a Venom Spider Man 3 on us, but now we ave to wait who knows how long to get a perfect adaptation of him. Don't try and delude yourself, Two-Face surviving would in no way be out of place, I loved TDK but it had its faults, and Batman's no killing policy with Two-Face's death was one of them.

Another thing is this "Nolan verse" treatment, it seems to be diluting the essence of the characters, so I'll be awaiting the day someone has the balls to just pick up a comic, go "wait a minute, this universe is far better than any live action adaptation!", and bring that comic world to life.

Massive disagreement here...

Somehow I expected that.

...Two-Face is literally Batman's second most frequent and deadly enemy, not to mention one of the most diverse, interesting and realistic villains. The fact that we never got a chance to even touch upon his Two-Face psychosis in TDK was a waste...

But Nolan's interest wasn't so much in Two-Face as it was in Harvey Dent and his fall from grace; a powerful theme and the backbone of the movie. And I'm glad that Nolan took that approach because I don't think any future filmmaker would do it (whereas I do think that someday we will see a big screen treatment focusing on Two-Face - I just hope it's better than Batman Forever).

...plus he would be the perfect enemy in the third film, killing off the gangsters like in Dark Victory, which would not only consolidate the "freaks" taking over but a perfect mirror for a Batman like vigilante gone wrong.

I think that Nolan will return for a third film, but I also think that it will be his last. And if that's the case then I don't want to see villains revisted, I want brand new ones. I'll admit I'm one of the many who want to see The Riddler. He's probably my least favorite of the main Batman villains, but I believe that Nolan could do a brilliant treatment of him.

It was set up so perfect yet now not only has one of the greatest villains in comic history pulled a Venom Spider Man 3 on us, but now we ave to wait who knows how long to get a perfect adaptation of him.

IMO, the Spider-Man 3 comparision only works in the most superficial way. There's a world of difference between how Harvey Dent/Two-Face and the Symbiont/Venom were handled. As far as a perfect adaptation of Two-Face (or any Bat character) I don't believe there is one; but I'll touch on that more further down.

Don't try and delude yourself, Two-Face surviving would in no way be out of place...

No delusions here, it would be out of place. In the comic book world Two-Face would return. But in Nolan's more realistic world that approach is problematic. At the end of TDK we have Batman and Gordon standing over Harvey's body convinced that he's dead. If Two-Face were suddenly to reappear in the next film we would have to believe that the World's Greatest Detective and the Police Commissioner (who has seen plenty of dead bodies as part of the MCU) were simply mistaken. Yeah, it could happen, but given the groundwork that Nolan has laid out already, such a comic book senario would be jarring. If Nolan wanted Two-Face in the next film the better way to go would be to have Two-Face seriously injured and Batman and Gordon agree it would be for the public good to hide him away in Arkham.

...I loved TDK but it had its faults, and Batman's no killing policy with Two-Face's death was one of them.

TDK did have it's faults but this wasn't one of them. Batman wasn't trying to kill Harvey, he was trying to save Gordon's son. Harvey's death was an accident. If Batman had been hanging from the ledge with one hand and holding Harvey with the other and then intentionally let go, that would have been a violation of his no killing policy.

Another thing is this "Nolan verse" treatment, it seems to be diluting the essence of the characters...

No, it's just a different take on the characters. That's one thing I like about Batman as opposed to, say, Superman. Superman is Superman is Superman. He'll always be the big Boy Scout. But Batman can be just about anything, from Gotham's dark, brooding Avenging Angel to a sunny, breezy...well...Boy Scout, who goes around calling Robin, "old chum". This can be done with a lot of the villains too. The Joker is a psycho clown. Some writers emphasize the clown, others the psycho, and still others bring a balance between the two. They're all different takes on the same character, but none is necessarily better than another. I don't think there is a perfect or definitive version; but each fan will have his or her favorite. On DVD I own Batman Begins, BTAS and even Batman meets Scooby Doo. I enjoy all of them, but BTAS will always be my favorite take on Batman and his rogues gallery.

...so I'll be awaiting the day someone has the balls to just pick up a comic, go "wait a minute, this universe is far better than any live action adaptation!", and bring that comic world to life.

Bruce Timm and Paul Dini already did this, albeit in animated form. But I agree; I love Nolan's world but I also look forward to post Nolan movies that take the approach that you describe. Even better, I'd like to see it as a weekly one hour tv series (though I'm not holding my breath).

There was a brilliant Spy Clops chopper mod to make it more normal people accessible.

Oh yes, of course there was. Still, I think that was the only one, so it'll be nice to get on with mine.

Huh, good job, you may prosper yet. Or fail, we comic geeks know a lot about failing.

I'm thinking the latter. She's doing a third year, because she can't decide what to do at Uni (yes, that means she's older than me), but she's only doing one subject. That means she's hardly in, whereas I'm practically in all the time. Seriously, my timetable is awful. Big 3/4 hour breaks all over the place. Anyway, I digress. What I'm saying is I'm unlikely to actually see her. I can't find her either, as I can't remember what that one subject she's doing is...

However, there is one of the new first years who's quite nice. I was talking to her the other day, and we were getting on quite well. To be honest, it's just nice to meet someone my best mate doesn't fancy.

The girl I'm interested in is all over the place. She's going to Queensland now for a week and a half for holidays and then apparently from the newspaper Gallipoli for winning a competition!

I feel out of my depth :cry_sad:

I was wondering how that was going. Obviously not quite to plan. Stick at it though, you never know. When she returns from her magical mystery tour that is.

You feel out of your depth? Huh, don't we all mate.

I like it too, though the ignominious louts at my school refer to me as a "nerd". Nerd!? A totally different thing I say!

Oh, undoubtedly. A geek is someone who has an intricate or inate knowledge of a particular topic, to the point where they find it exciting. A nerd is much more obsessive.

Have you made the Batplane? Or Batwing for that matter? (one seater)

Surely you remember the Bat-MOC (3?) with the two-seat Batplane. I MODed the Batwing to accomodate Robin as well. Speaking of, I did a little work on my Batcavbe the other day. Well, I say that. I spent a good few hours sat there, but when I looked at what came out of it, I'd barely done anything!

Speaking of lots of sets, what do you think of those Power Miners?

I think there's something there. I don't like that everyone hates them, I think they have some potential. Lime green is always nice, and there's a red motorbike in there as well. The small drill-thing does look quite nice, and while the other sets don't look quite as nice, they may turn out to be something I look into. Funnily enough, the biggest hate-point besides the red/lime green is the inclusion of blue helmets. What's wrong with that?

What do you think?

Highlighted the ones that actually matter and weren't you just tying to sound cool ()

It'd be great to do the Wayne Penthouse, and have the satellite Batcave underneath, but there's no way either of us could get it to be impressive enough. Which is a shame.

Ah yes, complete with the most pointless use of an ejecting side car ever used in film!

Oh, I know. We're ace crimefighters, we don't walk. But how much do you now want a motorbike with a go-kart sidecar?

Is that good or bad? I hear it started to go a bit far...

Well, I'll love it whatever. But some of the plots are just starting to border on surreal. However, it's all a bit of fun, so I'll not worry too much about it. I'm just waiting for the bit in Series 3 when everyone goes to the beach...

You are a sad individual, that's what.

Yeah... a sad, geeky, obsessive-compulsive, lovelorn individual.

Tell me when you send them then, I never check my emails.

Oh I check mine every day... I just never seem to get any.

Good point, but I think I like bringing people to it more. Think about it, isn't it so much better to have people who actually care and are interested in the source material? My good friend will turn, oh yes, he will turn! :skull:

Oh, well they'll listen to me talk about the comics and stuff (I was talking about BTAS and the Lego game the other day), and sound interested. By the same token, I'll let my friends talk about going horse riding, going shooting or watching football with the same degree of interest.

Good luck, do you mind my asking what Batman TPBs you have?

Not at all. I don't have many trades/HCs, because of teh Collector's Editions I get, and the general state of the UK comics market. The only Batman trades I have are TLH, Arkham Asylum: Living Hell and The Ring, The Arrow and The Bat. But I onlt have those latter two because they were on offer. Along side these, I have JLA: Tower of Babel and JLA: Divided We Fall, along with SW: Clone Wars Vol.7 and Vol.8 (all four also on offer), Kingdom Come, Infinite Crisis, Prelude to Infinite Crisis, 52 Vol.1-4, V For Vendetta, DC/Marvel Crossovers 4 (including Batman/Spider-Man), Heroes Vol.1, FF: Unthinkable (the late Mike Wieringo was superb) and most of the new Transformers series: Infiltration, Escalation, Megatron Origin, Stormbringer, and Spotlights Vol.1 and Vol.2.

But like I said, I also have a lot of stuff from the CEs, plus a few individual comics. It's too late to go through them now, but I'll make a list for you tomorrow.

Remind me also to talk about Heart of Steel.

Killing Joke up next then, is the original still in print? I really, really don't want to get the new one with Bolland's inking.

Really? You don't like the new colours? I think I prefer them to the originals. Sure, the old ones make us see the world in a mad, hyper state, like the Joker, but the new ones are sombre, restrained, a sea of calm in a world gone mad. What strck me as odd is that the foreword is written by Tim Sale. Considering that the major change for the new reprint was the colours, he seems like an odd choice given his colourblindness.

 That is the fourth time I have seen that this week!

And it never grows old.

I'll admit I'm one of the many who want to see The Riddler. He's probably my least favorite of the main Batman villains, but I believe that Nolan could do a brilliant treatment of him.

:cry_sad:

If Nolan wanted Two-Face in the next film the better way to go would be to have Two-Face seriously injured and Batman and Gordon agree it would be for the public good to hide him away in Arkham.

See, that's what I assumed did happen. That they told the world Harvey Dent was dead, when he was actually locked up in Arkham as Two-Face. Obviously not...

No... Batman killed him. True, he didn't mean to. True, he was saving Gordon's son. But the fact remains that Batman pushed him from the ledge, and this caused his death. Batman killed him.

He also refused to save Ra's from death in BB.

Oh dear, you just can't find one can you? Well, atleast now we can make it a race!

I was wondering how that was going. Obviously not quite to plan. Stick at it though, you never know. When she returns from her magical mystery tour that is.

Yeah, I hate life.

Oh, undoubtedly. A geek is someone who has an intricate or inate knowledge of a particular topic, to the point where they find it exciting. A nerd is much more obsessive.

Exactly, plus a Nerd is based further upon more practical subjects like a Maths, Science or Computer nerd, a Geek is more obsessed with superheroes, Star Wars or heaven forbid Dungeons and Dragons

I remember it, I just thought you were referring to a new Batwing one seater.

Power miners:

What do you think?

I like them, obviously I won't judge until better pics, though everyone else seems to

The lime green is nice, as are the mosters so far, and I HAVE ot get that red bike for Robin. The drill is great too, and like you I have no problem with the blue helms, I want them.

It'd be great to do the Wayne Penthouse, and have the satellite Batcave underneath, but there's no way either of us could get it to be impressive enough. Which is a shame.

Oh yeah, remember back in the Dennis O'Neill and Neal Adams days when they left Wayne Manor for a long time, and returned to find Manbat there?

I'd love to make it one day, but "one day" is the key term here sadly.

Well, I'll love it whatever. But some of the plots are just starting to border on surreal. However, it's all a bit of fun, so I'll not worry too much about it. I'm just waiting for the bit in Series 3 when everyone goes to the beach...

Good point, I've seen the beach episode, gosh that was strange. But a bit of surreal is all in good fun right?

Yeah... a sad, geeky, obsessive-compulsive, lovelorn individual.

You're obsessive too? I line all moy comics in chronological order, as well as my DVDs in order and preference, as well routinely keeping my Lego displays in shape.

Oh I check mine every day... I just never seem to get any.

, have you sent them yet?

Oh, well they'll listen to me talk about the comics and stuff (I was talking about BTAS and the Lego game the other day), and sound interested. By the same token, I'll let my friends talk about going horse riding, going shooting or watching football with the same degree of interest.

I try to do that too, but some of my friends don't have interests really, which is.....difficult.

Thanks for that list, allowing for expansions of unlisted extras, I must say you don't have as much as I assumed. But then you read a LOT at the Library don't you?

Though I can't say much, I only started finally buying them late last year

Remind me also to talk about Heart of Steel.

Talk about it.

No, I dislike the new colours, they make it look just like any other Batman comic with drab colours etc. So generic, while the classic had bright vibrancy that totally defined what the story was about, a world supposedly on the border of insanity. Still, do you know if the old one is still available for order?

:cry_sad:

Agreed, the Riddler is so underrated, a classic Bat villain.

See, that's what I assumed did happen. That they told the world Harvey Dent was dead, when he was actually locked up in Arkham as Two-Face. Obviously not...

I liked that theory better, it would give Batman 3 a great plot too, since the metaphorical destruction of hope is so important, the eventual knowledege of two-Face would destroy hope, so Batman would have to step up as a true hero, despite his drawbacks, getting connections back to Gordon and fighting the escalating "freaks" crisis that Two-Face is causing by slaughtering the mob.

No... Batman killed him. True, he didn't mean to. True, he was saving Gordon's son. But the fact remains that Batman pushed him from the ledge, and this caused his death. Batman killed him.

He also refused to save Ra's from death in BB.

Agreed. Accident? Yes. Still a break of the policy? Yes. I love the Nolan series and this doesn't faze me a lot, but as I still say, I'm awaiting the day a director just adapts the comics without making his own breaks from them.

Yes, but the CLASSIC comics, not the current crap. The day when Batman starts calling himself the G-d-D--m batman onscreen is the day the batman franchise is destroyed once and for all.:tongue:

I agree - I think people are being too hard on this line, just like they were being too hard on Agents when we saw the first pictures. Hopefully the reaction will be more positive when we get better pictures. :classic:

You seem to have one singular run on Batman as its totality, comics right now seem to be entering a new level of storytelling despite some drawbacks.

This part however, is true, I can't wait to see better pics.
