Right, it's the weekend and I've finally got some time to myself. My timetable this year means I'm in college all day, as it's not viable to come home in my breaks, due to both time and money.

Good point, what do you plan on doing to it then?

Not too sure. I'll remove any bits of weird colour, and I'll probably get rid of the shooters on the plane. Other than that, I'll just see what happens. To be honest, I don't think there's really anything that's really screaming out to be fixed, which I guess is a testament to the awesomeness of the sets. Unfortunately, it means there's not as much for me to do.

Oh dear, you just can't find one can you? Well, atleast now we can make it a race!

On a related note, the other day I was talking to the first year I mentioned before. She took out one of her folders to do some work and she was showing me some of her doodles (no!). Numbering amongst them was a caricature of Batman and Robin, complete with smiling Batman, a Heath Ledger Joker sketch and an impossibly cute Two-Face caricature. Seriously, it was really cute. So it turns out shes a bit of a Batman fan.

I asked her if she read the comics, and she said that she didn't really, but she did own some of the trades, mostly Joker ones. I mentioned that I needed to buy the deluxe Killing Joke sometime, and she said she had it.

Batbrick mate... I think I'm in love.

Unfortunately, I stupidly mentioned the '20 types of Kryptonite' thing. True, I was making a joke about my fanboyism, but still...

Exactly, plus a Nerd is based further upon more practical subjects like a Maths, Science or Computer nerd, a Geek is more obsessed with superheroes, Star Wars or heaven forbid Dungeons and Dragons

... I like maths.

Oh, I had a break at college the other day and I got stuck listening to someone talking about D&D, along with the American election, gypsy clans, Lord of the Rings, the disappointments of the rewards the characters get at the end of Lord of the Rings, webcomics and D&D again. It was a long hour-and-a-half. :cry_sad:

I remember it, I just thought you were referring to a new Batwing one seater.

Sadly no. I don't have space for that as well.

Oh yeah, remember back in the Dennis O'Neill and Neal Adams days when they left Wayne Manor for a long time, and returned to find Manbat there?

I'd love to make it one day, but "one day" is the key term here sadly.

Exactly. A nice change of pace, even if there was very little actual reason for it.

Good point, I've seen the beach episode, gosh that was strange. But a bit of surreal is all in good fun right?

Exactly. Just look at us!

Speaking of surreal humour, I've just got to tell you this. Half of my Chemistry class yesterday were on a Biology fieldtrip, so we couldn't do much as they'd all miss it. It became one of those lesson where we're left to our own devices, we all do very little work and no-one really cares. Anyway, so our table were talking about the end of the world (don't ask) and the Hadron Collider. After a slight lull in the conversation, someone piped up with "Why don't we put rats in the Hadron Collider?" I looked up immediately and exclaimed the question back to him, causing my mate next to me to burst into hysterics (that's the most I've ever seen him laugh). I followed suit, and we had to be told to calm down by the teacher.

It wasn't even funny!

You're obsessive too? I line all moy comics in chronological order, as well as my DVDs in order and preference, as well routinely keeping my Lego displays in shape.

Yeah... it's a little bit worse than that, but yeah. My friends all think it hugely funny, and to be honest, I run with it. It's me, why bother about it? I keep going into classrooms straightening tables.

, have you sent them yet?

I've sent the drafts of #6 and #7 for editing. There are accompanying notes as well. The finished #4 hasn't been sent yet, as I've not had the time.

Thanks for that list, allowing for expansions of unlisted extras, I must say you don't have as much as I assumed. But then you read a LOT at the Library don't you?

Though I can't say much, I only started finally buying them late last year

Okay, I went though this morning. I have two Marvel pocketbooks I missed before, FF: The Coming of Galactus and Uncanny X-Men: Days of Future Past. Ooh, extensive. A couple of things: the classic B&B series is probably the one classic series that is sorely lacking a proper trade reprint. Seriously, it's great. As for the new series, it's worth checking out. First off, it's got Perez on art, which is always good. Second, it's a good read, with a nice mix of humour and seriousness. The character choices are also good: Batman, Green Lantern, Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Lobo, Adam Strange, the LSH and the Challengers of the Unknown.

Go on then: share yours.

Talk about it.

Okay, Heart of Steel. I liked it. Babs made her first appearance, of course, as did her teddy Woobie (nice scene with Gordon there). The design for HARDAC was simply beautiful, so art deco. The robo-case at the beginning was so cool, and... why has no-one found the Batglider hidden on top of Wayne Enterprises? Cybertron Industries is obviously a reference to Transformers. Oh, and poor Alfred getting electrocuted.

No, I dislike the new colours, they make it look just like any other Batman comic with drab colours etc. So generic, while the classic had bright vibrancy that totally defined what the story was about, a world supposedly on the border of insanity. Still, do you know if the old one is still available for order?

Fair enough. I can see why the old colours worked, as an insight into the Joker's mind and all that, but I just can't help but prefer the new ones. Looking at the DC website, the old book is listed as out of print, sorry.

Yes, but the CLASSIC comics, not the current crap. The day when Batman starts calling himself the G-d-D--m batman onscreen is the day the batman franchise is destroyed once and for all.:tongue:

Oh, we'd better not get an All-Star Batman film.

You seem to have one singular run on Batman as its totality, comics right now seem to be entering a new level of storytelling despite some drawbacks.

Exactly. As an example, whatever you think of Morrison's run or his writing, you have to admit it is taking Batman somewhere new. Then look at the how different Detective Comics is from that. Then look at Superman/Batman and Trinity. Even All-Star is worth a read and is really funny, albeit for the wrong reasons.

Seriously, good for you, my girl hasn't returned form Queensland yet. Though that Two-Face sounds hilarious!

Speaking of which, I'm really improving on my drawings, I can do one badass Two-Face now

Unfortunately, I stupidly mentioned the '20 types of Kryptonite' thing. True, I was making a joke about my fanboyism, but still...

Oh I do to, I'm honestly the best English student in my school as well, and I'm not bragging I've had three teachers admit it, but we, or atleast I don't obsess over the equations og non linear fractional algebraic denominational equations

Oh, I had a break at college the other day and I got stuck listening to someone talking about D&D, along with the American election, gypsy clans, Lord of the Rings, the disappointments of the rewards the characters get at the end of Lord of the Rings, webcomics and D&D again. I think it went something like this:

"My parents are DEEAAD!!! This manor still smells of my parents Alfred! They're DEEAAD!!! We must leave at once to the penthouse! Quickly!!!"

Exactly. Just look at us!

I try not to.

Speaking of surreal humour, I've just got to tell you this. Half of my Chemistry class yesterday were on a Biology fieldtrip, so we couldn't do much as they'd all miss it., I'm still waiting for that flipping thing to kill us all, and for some sick reason a small part of me hopes it does just for how iconic that would be...

Yeah... it's a little bit worse than that, but yeah. My friends all think it hugely funny, and to be honest, I run with it. It's me, why bother about it? I keep going into classrooms straightening tables.

Oh, I only straighten the tables me and my friends sit on.

Thanks, I'll check them sometime but I might be a bit longer, I'm on holidays till next monday. I watched Wall-E yesterday too, have you seen it? I swear I cried a little, its either on a par or maybe even above The Dark Knight in my opinion! :oh3:

Oh crap.

Well considering the only comics I own are in Graphic Novel form (bar just a couple, one an All Star for kicks), and the only ones I bought have been Batman so far sadly, this will look pathetic, Well, here we go:

Batman: Year One

Haunted Knight

The Long Halloween

Dark Victory

Catwoman: When in Rome

Robin: Year One

Tales of the Demon

A Death in the Family

Knightfall: The Broken Bat

Knightfall: Who Rules the Night

Knightfall: Knightsend

Batman: Faces

Arkham Asylum: Living Hell

Gotham Central: In the Line of Duty

Gotham Central: Half a Life

Gotham Central: Unresolved Targets

Gotham Central: The Quick and the Dead

The Joker: Greatest Stories Ever Told

The Dark Knight Returns

I used to have a couple of Superman one shots comics though, but I lost track of them sadly.

Oh, I missed the Transformers reference, even I should of spotted that

Watched another?

Fair enough. I can see why the old colours worked, as an insight into the Joker's mind and all that, but I just can't help but prefer the new ones. Looking at the DC website, the old book is listed as out of print, sorry.

I don't really care anymore ot be frank, looking over the new colours they're still great. Not as great as the old ones in my opinion, but if it has "Deluxe" on it we Batfans are sold anyway right?

Oh, we'd better not get an All-Star Batman film.

Oh, we had better!

I just hope they don't retcon his origin, if they do I'll go after Morrison and spill just about every vital organ he has.

Yuo may notice some new comics I bought up there. Yes, I recently spent 135 dollars at Hobart (Sinner's home city) at an awesome book and comic store called Area 52. I bought the three Gotham Centrals after buying Unresolved Targets a while ago, all of which are great, especially Half a Life with Two-Face. Plus, Greg Rucka actually makes a cool looking green Two-Face. Have you read that one?

I bought Robin: year One which is also great. I love how Two-Face has a connection to the first and third Robin's, he totally wastes Dick in this. Two-Face is totally Badass here. You read it? Continuity is a bit iffy in places but everything is explainable. But the best part? Killer Moth and his Mothmobile (complete with Mothspray and Cocoon Gun) have a fight scene. Best line: "His name in Drury walker, he lends himself out to the criminals as the "scourge of the underworld" Killer Moth. He's not very good at it."

Batman: Faces by Matt Wagner is easily one of the best Two-Face stories told, seriously you need to read it. So great and he manages to pull off a tragic and cool villain without resorting to constantly having inner turmoil, he's Two-face throughout.

Luckily thanks to my job, I have enough money left for a lot more

Batbrick Away!

Indeed. Let's see where it goes. Good luck to you too, when she returns from far-off lands.

Speaking of which, I'm really improving on my drawings, I can do one badass Two-Face now

Cool. Nice to see you're not cheating like yours truly.

How did that turn out?

It got a bit of a laugh, so not all bad. I mean, it's not like I scared her off or anything.

Oh I do to, I'm honestly the best English student in my school as well, and I'm not bragging I've had three teachers admit it, but we, or atleast I don't obsess over the equations og non linear fractional algebraic denominational equations

Ooh, harsh. You know, I got asked if I dream about maths the other day.

But I do want to teach maths, so it's hardly surprising. It's funny, I tell people that and everyone gives me the exact same look...

Of course, your teachers telling you this is strictly off-the-record. Actually, the open day at my sister's school is coming up soon, so all the staff are putting up work on display boards and in their classrooms. She came home today and told me there's a board in one of the maths rooms with some of my work on (which has apparantly had smily faces drawn on it by someone), and there's a board outside English with all (yes, all) my coursework on. I left a year and a half ago!

Ouch!

Oh, I was thinking much worse than that.

I think it went something like this:

"My parents are DEEAAD!!! This manor still smells of my parents Alfred! They're DEEAAD!!! We must leave at once to the penthouse! Quickly!!!"

He also developed a tendancy to wander around the penthouse suite in costume. Is that really a good idea?

, I'm still waiting for that flipping thing to kill us all, and for some sick reason a small part of me hopes it does just for how iconic that would be...

It's great how the press all got it entirely wrong: "They're switching it on! They're switching it on!! They're switching it on!!! Oh... nothing's happened." Turns out it was only supposed to be a test, and everyone without fail assumed it was the big switch on. :hmpf:

Oh, I only straighten the tables me and my friends sit on.

Yeah... it's a lot worse than that. However, I've learned to live with it, and I've learned to laugh at it along with everyone else. It's me, why bother about it.

Thanks, I'll check them sometime but I might be a bit longer, I'm on holidays till next monday. I watched Wall-E yesterday too, have you seen it? I swear I cried a little, its either on a par or maybe even above The Dark Knight in my opinion! :oh3:

Sure, whatever. Hope you enjoy your holidays, btw. I haven't seen it, no. I was going to go a few weeks ago, but I never quite got round to it. I'll probably take a look when it comes out on DVD. Maybe buy it for my sister for Christmas, just so I can watch it.

It is a Pixar film though. With the exception of the Lion King films, I never much cared for Disney's solo fare. But all the Pixar films I've seen have had a certain charm to them.

Oh crap.

Yeah... sorry about that.

I have a lot more than I think though. But then, they do go back a couple of years. It's great reading them back no, as I can appreciate them differently, with a more adult view.

Looking at your list though, you do seem to have got all the ones you should have, as a Bat-fan. Whereas I haven't (the UK market strikes again).

Watched another?

Not yet, no. Not had any time sadly. I'll likely watch a few at the weekend though.

I don't really care anymore ot be frank, looking over the new colours they're still great. Not as great as the old ones in my opinion, but if it has "Deluxe" on it we Batfans are sold anyway right?

Indeed. It looks awesome, with the oversized hardcover, and the classic 'Joker with a camera' image. It's one of those things you see and just think "I must have this".

I just hope they don't retcon his origin, if they do I'll go after Morrison and spill just about every vital organ he has.

I agree. But it's still an interesting read, just trying to figure out who the main villain is. I'm hearing theories of it being Alfred. But I'm currently toying with the red/black as good/evil theme representing the Black Glove and the Red Hood. The Joker's involved somehow...

And, red and black are Harley's colours. More Joker ties...

Yuo may notice some new comics I bought up there. Yes, I recently spent 135 dollars at Hobart (Sinner's home city) at an awesome book and comic store called Area 52. Yes, I heard it was supposed to be good. I might check it out sometime.

Luckily thanks to my job, I have enough money left for a lot more

I am volunteering though... sort of. Last year I volunteered in a school one afternoon a week. I don't have time for that this year sadly, so I offered my services to the maths department at college to help out with GCSE resit classes. When the two college sites merge into one (it was supposed to happen three weeks ago, but the building work took longer than expected) I can start. Long story.

Anyway, volunteering looks better than paid work on Uni admissions. So there!

Every piece of that is strange, I always dream about killing members of my own family or having massive arguments with my father in public places, which is much better.

So I'm assuming your work was really good to stay on the board?

He also developed a tendancy to wander around the penthouse suite in costume. Is that really a good idea?

Probably not, the fact that he swung out of the penthouse a lot also didn't help.

It's great how the press all got it entirely wrong: "They're switching it on! They're switching it on!! They're switching it on!!! Oh... nothing's happened." Turns out it was only supposed to be a test, and everyone without fail assumed it was the big switch on. :hmpf:

Are you kidding? Pixar films are damn near perfect! I never cared for Disney films either, but honestly Disney just partners with Pixar, no real connection between the work apart from profit interest.

Yeah... sorry about that.

I have a lot more than I think though. But then, they do go back a couple of years. It's great reading them back no, as I can appreciate them differently, with a more adult view.

I love reading them a lot too, you notice things you never saw before, and continuity bits too. I love looking through my favourite scenes too. Speaking of which, what are your favourite scenes in some Batcomics?

Looking at your list though, you do seem to have got all the ones you should have, as a Bat-fan. Whereas I haven't (the UK market strikes again).

Yeah, I love that pretty much all the essentials are mine now, so I can get my admittingly true favourite like the Matt Wagner duology and No Man's Land series.

Not yet, no. Not had any time sadly. I'll likely watch a few at the weekend though.

Noo! I still haven't got Volume 4 since I'm constantly running out of money. Seriously, the Agents and Castle sets are now in my stores () so I'm practically doomed. Plus, the very last of the "essentials" - The Man Who Laughs - is now at my comic store, and I really am divided over it or the sets.

Indeed. It looks awesome, with the oversized hardcover, and the classic 'Joker with a camera' image. It's one of those things you see and just think "I must have this".

Speaking of which, I just got it last week! Very nice, I was a bit harsh on the new colours, my gripe with them is that while improving many aspects they seriously destroy the iconic moments. Point in case Joker's famous "Hahaha" panel and the light between Bats and Joker at the end are so pale that they lose their effect. Still loved it though, I just hope since I have it now you don't fall in love with me the same way you did with that girl!

Honestly, i'm really getting sick of the Joker. Really sick. Every single major arc he just HAS to be either the big baddie or a part of the huge plan. Seriously, give Scarecrow or Two-Face a go for once, Joker gets very old, especially as of recent.

Hmm... I might have read it, I can't quite remember. Nice haul though.

Thanks, I don't know what to get next, maybe Face the Face, I love Two-Fae stories. Or Hush, that is probably an "essential" in retrospect as well. What do you think?

I am volunteering though... sort of. Last year I volunteered in a school one afternoon a week. I don't have time for that this year sadly, so I offered my services to the maths department at college to help out with GCSE resit classes. When the two college sites merge into one (it was supposed to happen three weeks ago, but the building work took longer than expected) I can start. Long story.

Nice, hope that goes well, my job is as boring as ever

Say, have you watched Dr Horrible?

batbrick Away!

I'm no cheater. Well, actually I am, but I cheat smart.

I, on the other hand, just cheat.

I certainly would've been scared off!

Oh, you love it really.

My mate threw me that look today, as I said hello to her. Well, gave her the thumbs-up. See... everyone's noticed.

Every piece of that is strange, I always dream about killing members of my own family or having massive arguments with my father in public places, which is much better.

:oh:

So I'm assuming your work was really good to stay on the board?

The English was at least. There were four (I think) pieces of coursework, each out of 54. I got three 53s and a 54, the only full-marks that teacher had ever given. Not bad, huh?

So when is the big switch on? I haven't been following this much seeing as I'm on holidays.

Um... I'm not sure. The press have all sort of forgotten about it. Speaking of, have you heard the Hadron Collider Rap?

Are you kidding? Pixar films are damn near perfect! I never cared for Disney films either, but honestly Disney just partners with Pixar, no real connection between the work apart from profit interest.

Exactly. That was what I meant. I have a particular appreciation for The Incredibles. I'm sure you can guess why. Disney films, on the other hand, are just a bit too... soppy.

I love reading them a lot too, you notice things you never saw before, and continuity bits too. I love looking through my favourite scenes too. Speaking of which, what are your favourite scenes in some Batcomics?

There's a great bit in Justice League: The Lightning Saga, a group shot of the combined League and Society saying hello before the coming mission. And there, at the front, is Power Girl talking to Bruce. And Bruce is drinking a cup of tea. It just looks so... normal.

In the same story, there's also a page where Batman, Geo-Force, Starman and Sandman walk towards the Arkham gates having teleported in. That's pretty neat, nice and dynamic.

That double-spread in TLH with the rogues in the office, lead by Two-Face is just so cool.

Hmm... can't think of any others off hand. Need to go back and check my collection again.

Go on then: while I do that, you share yours.

It's even worse here, as my mum has told me that I cannot spend all my birthday money on Lego. I'm sorry, how is it any different from someone buying a load of music or a load of craft stuff?

Speaking of which, I just got it last week! Very nice, I was a bit harsh on the new colours, my gripe with them is that while improving many aspects they seriously destroy the iconic moments. Point in case Joker's famous "Hahaha" panel and the light between Bats and Joker at the end are so pale that they lose their effect.

The flashbacks, for example, look great. The monotone, with the odd splash of colour, increasing in redness towards the full reveal of the Joker. And at least there's a point to the recolour. So we can see what Bolland originally wanted, instead of it just being for the sake of it.

Still loved it though, I just hope since I have it now you don't fall in love with me the same way you did with that girl!

 Depends how attractive you are.

Honestly, i'm really getting sick of the Joker. Really sick. Every single major arc he just HAS to be either the big baddie or a part of the huge plan. Seriously, give Scarecrow or Two-Face a go for once, Joker gets very old, especially as of recent.

I guess. I'm hoping he's revealed not to be the big baddie, and that he's out to stop the Black Glove because hurting Batman is his job. That'll be much better than him being the Black Glove.

Thanks, I don't know what to get next, maybe Face the Face, I love Two-Fae stories. Or Hush, that is probably an "essential" in retrospect as well. What do you think?

Hush is good. And Two-Face is in, sort of. But Face the Face is pretty good too. The tragedy of Two-Face reborn, for example. Sorry, that's not really helped has it?

Say, have you watched Dr Horrible?

The Sing-along-blog? Oh, wasn't it good?

I watched IYSS,WAYR? the other day. The Riddler! Okay, so the riddles are already 60s styled. Actually, have you come across the British gameshow from the 70s called 3,2,1? The clues on there are impossible to solve. Seriously! It's much the same with this episode. And of course Nygma was voiced by John "Lionel Luthor" Glover. Oh, and how crap did that computer game look? But the best bit? Batman saying he can't stand the puns. Myabe the Punster (ie. me) is the Black Glove?

Then I watched Joker's Wild. I want a Jokermobile. Now.

I, on the other hand, just cheat.

I imagine that

Oh, you love it really.

It's true!

The English was at least. There were four (I think) pieces of coursework, each out of 54. I got three 53s and a 54, the only full-marks that teacher had ever given. Not bad, huh?

Heh, guess the teacher felt sorry for you. Though honestly I'd be regarded as a better student if I wasn't so downright pessimistic, negative, sarcastic, cynical, narcissistic, un-partiotic and downright too smart for my own good.

Um... I'm not sure. The press have all sort of forgotten about it. Speaking of, have you heard the Hadron Collider Rap?

No, what is it? Sounds random and funny.

Exactly. That was what I meant. I have a particular appreciation for The Incredibles. I'm sure you can guess why. Disney films, on the other hand, are just a bit too... soppy.

I love The Incredibles, but my favourite is Wall-E and Toy Story 2. Though funnily enough, for such soppy trash Disney kills more characters than any other studio. It's Dreamworks I have the problem with :hmpf_bad:

There's a great bit in Justice League: The Lightning Saga, a group shot of the combined League and Society saying hello before the coming mission. And there, at the front, is Power Girl talking to Bruce. And Bruce is drinking a cup of tea. It just looks so... normal.

Very nice, here are mine, as you can guess a lot are Two-Fae related:

The bit in Year One as Batman announces to the corrupt that their time is coming to an end is pulls a "survivor" with that torch.

TLH Splash page with the gang, as well as the Two-Face reveal and Gilda reveal. Seriously, that final page is so brilliantly drawn.

Bane breaks Batman's back is iconic, but I prefer the final page of the previous issue with Bane's first appearance in the Manor.

Hush's Riddler reveal, that was HIS moment and I loved every second of it.

Dark Victory with Two-Face pistol whipping the crap out of Joker and Robin being sworn in.

I'll think of more in a sec......

It's even worse here, as my mum has told me that I cannot spend all my birthday money on Lego. I'm sorry, how is it any different from someone buying a load of music or a load of craft stuff?

Yuo have it bad too huh? Hey, atleast we aren't buying shoes! I think multiple sets are a no now, but I've almost got all the sets now, having got Troll impulse, Troll assault, Agent 1 and Agent 3 the other day.

The flashbacks, for example, look great. The monotone, with the odd splash of colour, increasing in redness towards the full reveal of the Joker. And at least there's a point to the recolour. So we can see what Bolland originally wanted, instead of it just being for the sake of it.

Yeah, I agree with the foreshadowing, but Joker's famous "Hahaha" panel is totally butchered in my opinion.

 Depends how attractive you are.

I'm afraid to say "Very" now!

I guess. I'm hoping he's revealed not to be the big baddie, and that he's out to stop the Black Glove because hurting Batman is his job. That'll be much better than him being the Black Glove.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for more writers to have the guts to write more stories lie Matt Wagner that don't necessarily shake things up in the mythos, but tell their own stories with villains that need to be used more, and are better for it.

Hush is good. And Two-Face is in, sort of. But Face the Face is pretty good too. The tragedy of Two-Face reborn, for example. Sorry, that's not really helped has it?

I like Hush, but I think I'll get Face the Face first, after all, it is Two-Face based and it is necessary for the "One Year Later" storyline.

The Sing-along-blog? Oh, wasn't it good?

It was brilliant, I might've watched it ten times already, did you like the ending?

I watched IYSS,WAYR? the other day. The Riddler! Okay, so the riddles are already 60s styled. Actually, have you come across the British gameshow from the 70s called 3,2,1? I love John Glover as the riddler: "My, My, if it isn't Bat-something-or-rather"

Joker's Wild is worth watching for the jokermobile alone, too bad it blew up.

Heh, guess the teacher felt sorry for you. Though honestly I'd be regarded as a better student if I wasn't so downright pessimistic, negative, sarcastic, cynical, narcissistic, un-partiotic and downright too smart for my own good.

Oh, very funny.

I'm more 'quietly cycnical'. My friends know how grumpy, cycnical and sarcastic I am, but no-one else does. It's funny, I'm also a really good liar. Not a good thing, I suppose, but not even my friends know when I'm lying.

No, what is it? Sounds random and funny.

It's really quite bad, but because of that, strangely funny. Check it out on Youtube, but go for the one with lyrics. It basically explains the whole point of the machine, but to rap. I'm not a fan of rap, it's just that someone at college told me to check it out.

Hush's Riddler reveal, that was HIS moment and I loved every second of it.

Oh yeah, that was nice. Especially the bit where Bats outwitted him with the "worthless riddle" bit.

Yuo have it bad too huh? Hey, atleast we aren't buying shoes! I think multiple sets are a no now, but I've almost got all the sets now, having got Troll impulse, Troll assault, Agent 1 and Agent 3 the other day.

I might as well be buying shoes. They're in greater abundance here than Lego seems to be. On the plus side, I'll order some of the Batsets and the Castle Advent Calendar in a couple of weeks, now that my Autumn S@H catalogue has arrived. I'll probably wait until after my birthday though.

What do you think of the Agents sets? I know I was selling them quite well ( ) to you a while ago, but what do you think?

I'm afraid to say "Very" now!

I think it best if you don't bother. Who knows what might happen.

But... I'm not sure if you're weird enough for me. Seriously, my mate met her the other day, and decided that she's one of the weirdest people he's met (and he's been out with a few odd people). I mean... she wore wellies to college the other day!

I like Hush, but I think I'll get Face the Face first, after all, it is Two-Face based and it is necessary for the "One Year Later" storyline.

Have you seen the Batman vs Two-Face collection? There are a few classic stories in there, and a few from the 70s onwards. I came across it in the library, but had to pass as I had no snesible way of carrying it around town for another hour.

It was brilliant, I might've watched it ten times already, did you like the ending?

Aw, so sad. But still very funny, especially considered it was done relatively quickly and cheaply at a time when barely anyone was working.

Joker's Wild is worth watching for the jokermobile alone, too bad it blew up.

Indeed. I'm going to start driving lessons soon, imagine turning up in the Jokermobile.

The latest issue of my CE arrived the other day. It looks as if they're printing Joker's Asylum, starting with the Joker. Further to our previous discussion, it's not a bad read. The story is okay, and the bookends Joker narration isn't too bad. It's just a pity it's not what I (and likely a lot of other people) expectec. Joker telling twisted versions of stories, rather than just a straight story. Heck, he doesn't even narrate the story. A missed opportunity, methinks.

Watched Tyger, Tyger the other day. I haven't read it, but I noticed there were quite heavy allusions to The Island of Dr Moreau there. Okay, so it was quite a nice episode, but I think I much prefer the human Catwoman.

Moon of the Wolf was-- hang on, I'm noticing a theme here: monster cat, monster wolf, and Man-Bat resurfaces soon. Ah, but good old Dr Milo is back, and up to his old tricks. I have to say though, it's a pretty funny coincidence that a guy named Romulus just happens to become a werewolf.

Day of the Samurai was a nice chane of pace, even if Bruce did insist on wearing that brown suit in Japan as well, poisoning any sense of style the county may have. But the maskless fight at the end was quite nice.

Ah yes, a bad cheater but a good liar. You are confused. I was talking to my mother the other day and we have such a contrast in beliefs. She sees good in people when I don't, same goes for a lot of my friends and romnantic interests, I just hope it doesn't end like Dr Horrible

It was awesome, I just watched it. The pure cheese just oozing especially during the chorus was hilarious, though I still am a little lost on the machine. I thought it was small but this thing is huge. Oh well, bring on the apocalypse!

Oh yeah, that was nice. Especially the bit where Bats outwitted him with the "worthless riddle" bit.

Moments like that is why the riddler is such a great character. Point in case his detective run with Paul "God" Dini, as much as I hate his forgotten memory the provate investigator angle is awesome.

Man, I feel for you. I mean, at first it was funny, but now it is just downright frustrating. I might get the asvent calender, though I doubt it. If I do it'll be mainly for the jester and vegetable pieces, of which I have little.

What do you think of the Agents sets? I know I was selling them quite well ( ) to you a while ago, but what do you think?

I love them. I agree with you, they really are fantastic. Gold tooth is brilliant, a clever mix of Fransisco Scaramanga and Auric Goldfinger, and the ten bars of gold made me happy. The truck I really love though, the prelim pics need to go to the bad place for deceiving us, and the jet is pure sweetness, like Deino I'd love to have a whole squadron of them.

The snow one is great too, I rather like Fire-Arm's "brother", and I finally get that elusive Chase hair. Speaking of which, I almost bought the mobile Command Center for 20% off the other day, but decided on the Troll Warship instead. I did this because the pieces in the ship were better for my current mocs and IA, it was cheaper, the fig count was more exciting and also I've decided on getting the Castle sets first. I've only got 6 sets to go now and have over three months left, so comic galore is approaching once I get the sets :cry_happy:

I think it best if you don't bother. Who knows what might happen.

Yeah, I have enough romantic issues with that mirror

But... I'm not sure if you're weird enough for me. Seriously, my mate met her the other day, and decided that she's one of the weirdest people he's met (and he's been out with a few odd people). I mean... she wore wellies to college the other day!

Mate, if you had ANY idea how eccentric I was then you'd be head over heels. Seriously, you're talking to the guy who -- No, wait, I promised the MIB I wouldn't reveal that one.

Oh, but what is "wellies"?

Have you seen the Batman vs Two-Face collection? There are a few classic stories in there, and a few from the 70s onwards. I came across it in the library, but had to pass as I had no sensible way of carrying it around town for another hour.

I've seen it in my comic sotre yes, but I hear it's only average and mainly about him getting rescarred about 15 times. I really want to get more continuity storylines right now, I've set my eyes on A Lonely Place of Dying, The Man Who Laughs and the Matt Wagner duology. But Two-face is the coolest villain in Batman, you atleast have to admit he brings out the best in writers, he rarely gets dud stories at all unlike Joker in any medium.

Aw, so sad. But still very funny, especially considered it was done relatively quickly and cheaply at a time when barely anyone was working.

During the writer's strike, what a joke that was. I love the whole thing, the premise is really a Geekgasm in itself.

Indeed. I'm going to start driving lessons soon, imagine turning up in the Jokermobile.

I really have to get my learners sometime, though I keep putting it off. I'm one of those guys that isn't really interested in driving but prefer to be as I put it "chauffeured". Though considering you're two years older than me I guess I'm not one to talk eh?

The latest issue of my CE arrived the other day. It looks as if they're printing Joker's Asylum, starting with the Joker. Further to our previous discussion, it's not a bad read. Joker telling twisted versions of stories, rather than just a straight story. Heck, he doesn't even narrate the story. A missed opportunity, methinks.

Yeah, the Joker's point and premise in the issue was awesome though, the premise would've worked wonderfully in a one shot. Too bad the art kills it, seriously that is the worst, most inconsistent art I've ever seen.

Watched Tyger, Tyger the other day. I haven't read it, but I noticed there were quite heavy allusions to The Island of Dr Moreau there. Okay, so it was quite a nice episode, but I think I much prefer the human Catwoman.

You're in middle territory now in dudzone sadly. Don't fret though, this is the last instance of utterly abysmal episodes, from here on thew worst they get is "below par". Though I do love Day of the Samurai, it is one of the only eps to actually kill a character (others being Two-Face part 2 and Harlequnade). Amusingly enough regarding the moon of the wolf ep, it is a bad episode based on a bad comic story with the same character name.

By the way, how are your batmocs going? Done anything new? I know I'll be making some of the Lego suits form the game.

Oh, it's pretty big. It stretches out of Switzerland into France for part of it. I'm not a physicist, not by any means, but I do take an interest in astrophysics. It's just so cool. Hence my interest in all this. It's just a pity it's broken down...

One question though: will that apocalypse be interactive?

Moments like that is why the riddler is such a great character. Point in case his detective run with Paul "God" Dini, as much as I hate his forgotten memory the provate investigator angle is awesome.

Exactly. Plus he's an obsessive-compulsive cheater. Remind you of anyone?

Man, I feel for you. I mean, at first it was funny, but now it is just downright frustrating. I might get the asvent calender, though I doubt it. If I do it'll be mainly for the jester and vegetable pieces, of which I have little.

I think I'll just order them. There's very little chance we'll get them in any of the high street stores now, so I'll just get on with it. Plus I can order the collectors catalogue and some keyrings as well.

The Calendar is worth it for the jester alone frankly. But the rest of the set is pretty nice too, and like you say there're the vegetable pieces.

The jet is great. The shooters probably need to go (must get round to that), but other than that it's fantastic. Dark blue always looks good, and mixed with the yellow and silver, well...

The wheels on the truck are perhaps a little small, but I can overlook that, and it's also pretty cool. Even if it is about half the height of the volcano base.

The snow one is great too, I rather like Fire-Arm's "brother", and I finally get that elusive Chase hair. Speaking of which, I almost bought the mobile Command Center for 20% off the other day, but decided on the Troll Warship instead. 20% off is awesome, try and get it before the offer expires. It really is a great set, and a fun build. I love small, quick builds for that instant fix, but sometimes there's just something nice about a great big long build. Nice pieces, fun details, lots of mini-vehicles... what more could you want?

Mate, if you had ANY idea how eccentric I was then you'd be head over heels. Seriously, you're talking to the guy who -- No, wait, I promised the MIB I wouldn't reveal that one.

Oh, but what is "wellies"?

I daren't ask...

"Wellies" is British slang for wellington boots. I forgot you're not up on your British slang.

In related news, I got a TDK Joker t-shirt (among others) for my birthday today. I on't know if you've seen it, the white one with his eyes, nose and mouth. Anyway, Amy was very impressed. So much so I got two birthday hugs!

I've seen it in my comic sotre yes, but I hear it's only average and mainly about him getting rescarred about 15 times.

I did notice it had the Pre-Crisis giant penny story, with the 'reverse magnetic field' escape.

But Two-face is the coolest villain in Batman, you atleast have to admit he brings out the best in writers, he rarely gets dud stories at all unlike Joker in any medium.

Probably because he hasn't had enough stories for there to be some duds in there.

Yeah, the Joker's point and premise in the issue was awesome though, the premise would've worked wonderfully in a one shot. Too bad the art kills it, seriously that is the worst, most inconsistent art I've ever seen.

I think it was supposed to look "a bit TDK-ish" but I'm not sure it really managed that. However, it was still a good read.

Amusingly enough regarding the moon of the wolf ep, it is a bad episode based on a bad comic story with the same character name.

Yes, I stumbled across that little factoid. Doesn't excuse it though. Ah well, that's 70s chic for you.

By the way, how are your batmocs going? Done anything new? I know I'll be making some of the Lego suits form the game.

Neither the Batcave or Arkham have actually changed since you last asked, but there are a couple of things I forgot to put in last time, plus the new Two-Face van/truck (official set MOD). I might look into making that rather nice Bat-rocket idea I posited in the 2009 thread as well. I also have one other idea that I want to look into.

I promise that I'll work on some stuff for our MOC thread sometime soon as well.

Oh, that reminds me: don't forget to look at editing those two issues I sent you.

I really want the Earth to end by Global Warming just so we can say "I told you so!" to all those oil companies. And I want it to happen now.

Yes it does sound a bit like me...

The Calendar is worth it for the jester alone frankly. But the rest of the set is pretty nice too, and like you say there're the vegetable pieces.

I think I will get the calender. Given that Castle is a bit more of an Army builder and number of figs don't matter, as well as the fact I collected all the non-exclusive sets last year leads to Castle being a bigger priority than Agents right now. Speaking of which, what do you think of the Village set? I am so getting that!

20% off is awesome, try and get it before the offer expires. It really is a great set, and a fun build. Sadly I don't think I'll get it for a while, if at all. I'm focusing more on Castle and comics right now, so maybe as my Christmas present. Basically, out of the four sets to go, the essential ones are really the Turbo Car Chase and the Speedboat (for a second Talia hair and those awesome sharks). I really hope ot get them all, but frankly I want to be able ot restrain myself a bit. What do you think without hitting me?

In related news, I got a TDK Joker t-shirt (among others) for my birthday today. I on't know if you've seen it, the white one with his eyes, nose and mouth. Anyway, Amy was very impressed. So much so I got two birthday hugs!

Who on Earth is Amy? My sister Amy?

I have seen the shirt, but frankly I want a Firefly one much more.

I did notice it had the Pre-Crisis giant penny story, with the 'reverse magnetic field' escape.

That is so wack, I almost bought it today in fact but settled for the Castle Siege Tower set instead. After all, now I have all my non exclusive Castle sets for this year.

Probably because he hasn't had enough stories for there to be some duds in there.

The Long Halloween

Two Face: Year One

Dark Victory

A Lonely Place of Dying

No Man's Land

Half A Life

Face the Face

Two of A Kind (Batman: B&W)

Dark Detective (As weird as the Harvey Clone idea was, it was heartbreakingly beautiful)

Batman vs Two-Face

Arkham Asylum

Not many eh?

I think it was supposed to look "a bit TDK-ish" but I'm not sure it really managed that. However, it was still a good read.

It was great writing, I love Joker's point here about "who is the real villain?", but that art nearly made me barf in disgust.

Yes, I stumbled across that little factoid. Doesn't excuse it though. Ah well, that's 70s chic for you.

If you ever make fun of the 70's again I will thump your head hard and repeatedly against the pavement, not even stopping as the light leaves your now glazed-over eyes and your pulses beats it's last. Not even when the sickening crunch of your skull opening up is heard and your crimson blood flows down the gutter. No, not even when your brains are splashed unmercifully against the ground, your face now a deformed, twisted and gory perversion of what it once was. Not even then.

Understand? :classic:

Looking forward to that then, too bad about Arkham, it was looking awesome last time. Make sure you switch the colours on Two-Face's truck like I did, it only occurred to me the other day that the colours are on the wrong sides. The Batrocket sounds cool too.

I've done easily enough to post another Bat Mocs'N'Mods but I'll wait for you if you wish :sweet:

Oh, that reminds me: don't forget to look at editing those two issues I sent you.

You only sent me issue four, but I sent it just then.

Now, comics update, I FINALLY found a place where I can see comics scans: Scans Daily! I've read nearly all of Dini's awesome detective run, and I love the new ventriloquist. Also, I read Devil's Advocate and a lot more stories. And I realised what an idiotic hack Morrison is after reading the most recent issue of RIP and also his Batman and Son and Resurrection of Ra's Al Ghul stories. What do you think of RIP?

Honestly? I don't care what else needs buying next year, travel, food, clothes, comics, I am finding the money for this. It's what, £85 here, which is hardly bank-breaking (that said...). Lot's of wonderful new figures (including two women!), and two great buildings, plus cool parts, nice colours, animals, a turkey... it's just such a great set. :cry_happy:

What do you think without hitting me?

This being me, shouldn't that question be "What do you think without hitting on me?"...

However, I guess you're right, it's not an essential set. I got it as it meant that I could hold off on the three I have left to buy until later, and they won't be too expensive. But since you already have all the figs from other sets (or will have), it's probably not a necessity. Still a great set though.

Who on Earth is Amy? My sister Amy?

I have seen the shirt, but frankly I want a Firefly one much more.

I was going to say "As if I'd fancy your sister, who I've never met" but we both know that's not entirely true, don't we?

But she's the first year I quite like. And I'll be honest, it's not a t-shirt I would have bought, but since I've had it bought for me, I'll wear it. And it's turned out to be a better t-shirt than I thought it would.

I caved and bought the second Lego Indy t-shirt yesterday. With any look, we might get some for the Batman game.

Not many eh?

:hmpf_bad:

But to be fair, that's not as many as some villains. *cough*The Joker*cough*

Understand? :classic:

:oh:*nods frantically* Yuh-huh.

Looking forward to that then, too bad about Arkham, it was looking awesome last time. Make sure you switch the colours on Two-Face's truck like I did, it only occurred to me the other day that the colours are on the wrong sides. The Batrocket sounds cool too.

I noticed they were the wrong way round, what's up with that? Trouble is, they've been 'the wrong way round' since I bought the set, two years ago. That means that it'll bother me if I swap them over...

I've done easily enough to post another Bat Mocs'N'Mods but I'll wait for you if you wish :sweet:

No, go on. And I promise I'll work on something for our Batbrick/Brainbox MOC thread. All I have at the moment are half-formed ideas.

You only sent me issue four, but I sent it just then.

I almost hate to tell you (and I'm surprised you didn't notice) but you've already edited issue 4, and this was the final copy release. I sent drafts of #6 and #7 a couple of weeks ago, before you went away on holiday. I can send them again if you want.

I mean, come on, I'm the one who drank too much last night, not you.

Hmm... I'll check it out sometime. As for RIP, my CE hasn't started on it yet, next issue sees part 1. Three (might be two)weeks to go...

Oh, I know. All the more reason for me to watch the show right?

Yuo'd love it trust me, it's like a total geek thing, a short and sadly cancelled (due to Fox's erratic airing schedule) but so widely loved. The fact that us Firefly fans are called Browncoats really sums up my point :cry_happy:

Honestly? I don't care what else needs buying next year, travel, food, clothes, comics, I am finding the money for this. It's what, £85 here, which is hardly bank-breaking (that said...). When I saw the words "honestly? I don't care..." I was about to mentally hit you with a very heavy object. But I digress. I am so getting it too, like you I cannot care for what else needs buying this is taking top priority. All tohse brilliant parts to, I might swap the tan for something else, unless the Indy sets have some. This also means Castle is taking top priory as a whole, with the obvious exception of the Lego Batman game. So soon I'll be ordering the Battle Wheel and Castle Advent Calender methinks. Too bad i'm cash strappoed after a purchase you'll learn more about down further....

Yeah. Yuo never know though, I may get them all, but frankly with the lovely look of Castle next year that has to take top spot. After all, the mobile command center offers up no unique figs for me, and ultimately is not as essential, but I can hope. Damn money.

I was going to say "As if I'd fancy your sister, who I've never met" but we both know that's not entirely true, don't we?

We are very odd. The T-short sounds nice I guess then, I'd much rather, classic Joker, check out this pic here. It is probably my favourite Joker pic ever:

It's the first pic on the page.

I caved and bought the second Lego Indy t-shirt yesterday. With any look, we might get some for the Batman game.

Nice, I'll be sure to get the Batman one, I reckon they'll be one for the villains and one for the heroes.

:hmpf_bad:

But to be fair, that's not as many as some villains. *cough*The Joker*cough*

I forgot to mention:

Annual #14

The two Greg Rucka stories that set the basis for the Two-Face/Renee relationship which I forget the names of.

The Jason Todd one shot involving him finding Two-Face killed his father, not a bad story.

Nightwing #147 - present where Two-Face and Harvey are having some very serious and sad issues. Is great so far.

But yeah, Joker is overrated as all heck. He has some downright abysmal stories frankly, and unlike Two-Face has too many "rape the dog" moments where he repetitively kills a Bat family member, is nearly killed but sent away. Seriously, I wish DC would just pull a Green Goblin on him and kill him already, or at least stop him form consistently murdering key characters, it gets old. Gordon should've blown his face open at the end of NML, it just goes too far.

:oh:*nods frantically* Yuh-huh.

Seriously, you officially aren't a Batgeek until you've read the Strange apparitions run. Have you? The Dark Detective sequel is very good also.

I noticed they were the wrong way round, what's up with that? Trouble is, they've been 'the wrong way round' since I bought the set, two years ago. That means that it'll bother me if I swap them over...

Yeah, but Two years is appropriate right?

No, go on. And I promise I'll work on something for our Batbrick/Brainbox MOC thread. All I have at the moment are half-formed ideas.

Thanks, I've already made a couple of things for the thread too, namely your Yellow Megatumbler.

Could you please send them again then, it seems I STILL haven't got them

Hmm... I'll check it out sometime. As for RIP, my CE hasn't started on it yet, next issue sees part 1. Three (might be two)weeks to go...

It's not that good frankly, I hate Morrison with a bloodlust.

Anyway, the mystery buy of today was.........THUNDERBIRDS!

Yes sir, I bought the entire show of 32 eps over eight discs for the outrageously cheap, cheap price of forty dollars. Seriously, I can't wait to watch them, my father and I both grew up watching them and I finally bought back a piece of my childhood!

Thunderbirds are Go!

Thing is, I'm sure I'll be able to find £85, especially after Christmas. If my mum lets me buy it that is. :hmpf_bad:

However, it is without doubt one of the best designed sets I've ever seen, so many neat little details, that TLG would so often simply overlook. Plus there's all the figures. Two female figs, and new faces for the blacksmith and old guy.

We are very odd.

Mmm...

Nice, I'll be sure to get the Batman one, I reckon they'll be one for the villains and one for the heroes.

You know what else would be nice? A mock-up of the Killing Joke cover in Lego form as a t-shirt.

I'm not sure I agree with that, he's still a great character, he just pops up everywhere. It's kind of nice to see he isn't the big baddie of RIP at least, and he seems to play a slightly different role here than we all thought he would.

I do tend to like the 'Batman/Joker different and the same' angle though, like in Killing Joke. Case in point the "I think we're going to do this forever" line from TDK. Joker is the complete antithesis to Batman, but without each other they can't exist. Batman relies on Joker to provide him with crime to stop, Joker relies on Batman to stop him without killing him. Without Batman, the Joker may as well not exist.

Plus they're so close in mental states as well. If Joker manages to tip Batman, he'll fall completely and almost become the Joker, his worst enemy. Joker represents everything that Batman could be but isn't.

Seriously, you officially aren't a Batgeek until you've read the Strange apparitions run. Have you? The Dark Detective sequel is very good also.

What's in the run? I'll be able to tell you if I've read any of it then.

Indeed. I was hoping to resist the temptation to look, but I accidentally came across it a short while ago. Never mind, I love it.

Oh..........damn. I knew that Deja Vu' was too much! :cry_sad:

Could you please send them again then, it seems I STILL haven't got them

Sent. And what's even worse is that I agree with your new comments for #4 but it's too late to do anything about it...

 It really is great, isn't it? I honestly never left Thunderbirds behind. There was a new showing of Thunderbirds, Stingray and Captain Scarlet a good few years ago, and I watched them all for the first time. My God, I love them. Thunderbirds is great fun, as is Captain Scarlet. Sadly, I don't have them on DVD, but it'd be something I'd definitely look into. Of course, this gives us something else to discuss as you wade through them.

Oh I'll be getting it no matter what. I'm currently looking at every meticulous detail and it truly is wonderful. It has encourage me to get all this years Castle sets. Plus we get cows man! I love their Rooster and chicken too. I might replace that tan with yellow though for my Wayne Manor. Batman still comes first after all!

:oh: How... cool... is... that... pic?

Seriously, it's great, don't you just love that modified Ghostbusters logo too?

You know what else would be nice? A mock-up of the Killing Joke cover in Lego form as a t-shirt.

That would be great, you mean the famous "Hahaha" panel right?

Oh, I've made my point poorly. I meant overrated in that his very existence, while awesome, has caused many other villains and storylines to be screwed over in favour of the next Joke/Bats battle. I was angry with the joker issue of Hush because of how it reveals all the major deaths were caused by Joker when I felt that it was too much, giver another poor villain his own go. We haven't got a single good Mr.Freeze story, and Mad Hatter and everyone are being totally ignored because Joker stories are just so damn easy to write. I know if I became a writer for DC I'd make stories for those other villains that are in that 40% of stories NOT including the Joker.

What's in the run? I'll be able to tell you if I've read any of it then.

The Laughing Fish storyline, Rupert Thorne bidding for Bats' identity alongside Joker and Two-Face, the Hugo Strange ghost. Ring any bells?

Indeed. I was hoping to resist the temptation to look, but I accidentally came across it a short while ago. Never mind, I love it.

Thanks, it the ultimate form of stealth!

Double Damn, I'll get on to those quick. What are you up to now?

Yes, it truly is a brilliant show, I enjoy every minute. Captain Scarlet is also great, though to a slightly lesser extent (he couldn't be killed = slightly anticlimactic). I notice something really strange in the first eps though, despite being the main characters and everthing, in the early eps the International Rescue never actually begin their rescuing until 3/5 through the whole thing!

F.A.B.

Is it ever actually explained what that stands for? Because I have never heard that....

Also, I received 50 dollars today which is wonderful, so another 60 (10 of which I owe Amy) makes 100, so I'll be sure ot hopefully get that Lego Batman game. Is it out there yet? I believe it is out here very soon.

Batbrick Away!

I'm back. First of all I was quite busy, then I got the Batman game (more on that later) and when I finally found time the other day to browse the boards my Internet was really slow, and I got a bit bored with it and gave up.

Of course. I'm going to order the Bat-sets this month as well. Even though most of my birthday money will go on a camera, I think I can find money for the Bat-sets now. As for the Market, I will agree it's a must-buy, and it really is superb in every way. It's the set I've been waiting for for 14 years, even though I didn't know.

Seriously, it's great, don't you just love that modified Ghostbusters logo too?

Yeah, I noticed that. Do we know who the artist is?

That would be great, you mean the famous "Hahaha" panel right?

I actually meant the one with the camera, but I think your suggestion would look better.

We haven't got a single good Mr.Freeze story, and Mad Hatter and everyone are being totally ignored because Joker stories are just so damn easy to write. I know if I became a writer for DC I'd make stories for those other villains that are in that 40% of stories NOT including the Joker.

I think it's partly because everyone wants to write a Joker story. He's such an iconic character, not just in the comics industry, but generally. He's one of the best and most well-known baddies ever. And as a result, everyone who writes for DC (or comics in general) wants to have a go at a Joker story. I mean, if I wrote for DC, I'd want to do one.

However, I do agree that some villains need a little more screentime occasionally. Especially as the only decent Freeze stories are the ones that are adapted from BTAS in some way or another.

The Laughing Fish storyline, Rupert Thorne bidding for Bats' identity alongside Joker and Two-Face, the Hugo Strange ghost. Ring any bells?

... no, I don't think so. Unfortunately.

Thanks, it the ultimate form of stealth!

And just as subtle as me.

Double Damn, I'll get on to those quick. What are you up to now?

Thanks for getting them back to me. I don't think you've quite understood the point with Harvey's speech, some quick dialogue can go in to fix that. And yes, Harvey was named so for you.

Issue-wise, #1-4 are public, #5-7 are ready to be turned into comic format, #8 is ready to be edited and #9 is handwritten. I've also got a few random scenes written (including the ends of Vol.1 and Vol.2), and a couple of the origins shorts at various stages of completion.

That's pretty much a constant all the way through the series, save a few odd episodes. They don't really do much until near the end. I think what I most loved about it was all the technology. I've always had an interest in engineering and technology (my parents thought I'd want to be an engineer at one point, but no), so seeing all this future-tech was always great. I rather like the Firefly, shame it didn't appear more than it did. It's funny, I've got a bit of an aversion to fire, but I always quite liked the Firefly.

Captain Scarlet I think I liked because it was different, a bit more adult. At the time I first watched it, that was something. Have you seen the new Captain Scarlet series, the CGI one?

Is it ever actually explained what that stands for? Because I have never heard that....

Nope, it was always left ambiguous. Captain Scarlet had SIG and SIR (Spectrum Is Green and Spectrum Is Red respectively), but FAB was never explained. The suggestion is it was a code sign taken from a contraction of 'fabulous', meant to mean (as it does) everything's okay.

Also, I received 50 dollars today which is wonderful, so another 60 (10 of which I owe Amy) makes 100, so I'll be sure ot hopefully get that Lego Batman game. Is it out there yet? I believe it is out here very soon.

I was sat there thinking "why does he owe money to my friend?" and then I realised you meant your sister. Not really sure why I was thinking that...

As I said earlier though, I got it the other day. It really is great. I'm not sure if you've got it yet, so I won't spoil it, but we'll talk about it when you do.

I missed you! :cry_happy: Glad to have you back (for now), are you planning on any Halloween creations? I reckon I'll enter the contest, and I've got a few Bat Halloween vigs lined up.

Of course. I'm going to order the Bat-sets this month as well. Even though most of my birthday money will go on a camera, I think I can find money for the Bat-sets now. Well done, Finally! I ended up getting the speedboat set and Turbocar set. I doubt I'll get the last two and I'll only get the advent calender if it comes here. The speedboat set is quite good, the boat needs serious modding but I see a lot of potential with the dual design. The buoy is fantastic though, I love the sharks too, so fabulous, they'll definitely be of much use. The fig selection is quite nice too. Turbocar Chase I think is my favourite set of the whole line, because it really encompasses everything the theme is about, with the cheesy villains, siren and awesome car. The ejector seat works much better than I thought too, and I am SO adding that siren to my improved Arkham. Spy Clops is brilliant too, I may not have all the sets in the line, but I have all the figs and - in my mind at least - the essential bits.

Yeah, I noticed that. Do we know who the artist is?

No, I think it is deviant art, some of the people there are amazing.

I do agree, though I'd love for DC to retire him in to a coma for a year or something so writers could do something original. But I agree that most people would write a Joker story, though personally I'd be not interested at all in writing one. Considering i'm interested in becoming a comic book writer this is quite unique, I really want to do a "Tales of the Mad Hatter" with three stories with about three issues each detailing a story with Mad Hatter as the villain, I've got some great ideas.

However, I do agree that some villains need a little more screentime occasionally. Especially as the only decent Freeze stories are the ones that are adapted from BTAS in some way or another.

Exactly, I have to commend Matt Wagner especially for realising that instead of always pushing forwards in the mythos, sometimes its good to go back and fill in the gaps like with his Monster Men/Mad Monk duology (forget what they are referred to as in duology form).

... no, I don't think so. Unfortunately.

Ah well, I was exaggerating btw before, hope you aren't offended  But it is an amazing run, I'm getting it for Christmas, but more on that later.

And just as subtle as me.

I don't know, is it really THAT blatant?

Thanks for getting them back to me. I don't think you've quite understood the point with Harvey's speech, some quick dialogue can go in to fix that. And yes, Harvey was named so for you.

That's fine, hope you like my edits, and I love that you are getting characters to talk more. I'd like to see perhaps a couple of quirks in a few characters or repeated phrases that aren't from Hartman too. Thanks for the Harvey mention too, I don't know any Harvey's so if I ever have a son I'm calling him Harvey Dent McCormack. And if they're girl-boy twins the other is Harley Quinn McCormack. What? Kevin Smith called his daughter Harley after her!

Looking forward to them, send me them two at a time I reckon, I get them in one go that way. Origins sounds interesting too, just save a juicy one for me!

Oh yes, but what I meant is that in a lot of eps you don't even SEE them until the end. I love the Mole frankly, but my favourite Thunderbird is either the giant green slug (Dad's name for it) or the sub - Thunderbird 4. Just watched the Sun Probe, where they have to stop a, er, Sun Probe from colliding with the, er, sun. It was quite good, but the space ones were never that great to me, and the reporter was annoying. Thunderbird 3 is badass machine though, and like every ep it is thoroughly entertaining, though a bit more dated than most. Thoughts?

Captain Scarlet I think I liked because it was different, a bit more adult. At the time I first watched it, that was something. Have you seen the new Captain Scarlet series, the CGI one?

No I haven't, is it any good? I haven't really heard much good about it.

I kind of like it that way because frankly, what can you make with FAB?

As I said earlier though, I got it the other day. It really is great. I'm not sure if you've got it yet, so I won't spoil it, but we'll talk about it when you do.

Spoil away please, I'm most likely getting it for Christmas as I spent my last pennies on the Lego sets and a new Bible.

The five comics I'm getting for Christmas are Batman and the Monster Men, Black and White volume 1, Detective by Paul Dini, Strange Apparitions and A Lonely Place of Dying. Read any? The last two can't be ordered by the uni book shop as they are out of print, but I am ordering Strange Apparitions from Amazon. Lonely is uber uber uber hard to get, so fingers crossed!

I also might be getting BTAS vol 4, which means everything is Batman related, which is at once awesome and in another rather sad

Batbrick Away!

And I've been away again.

This time it was rehersals for the panto and something else (more on that later). As for Halloween creations, I think I might see if I can knock something up. Not sure what though...

The speedboat set is quite good, the boat needs serious modding but I see a lot of potential with the dual design. The buoy is fantastic though, I love the sharks too, so fabulous, they'll definitely be of much use. The fig selection is quite nice too.

The sharks do look pretty neat, and I love the buoy. I can see why the boat might need MODing a little bit though, just to tidy it up a bit if nothing else. And of course, the sharks have lasers!

No, I think it is deviant art, some of the people there are amazing.

I'll agree there. Some of the stuff I've seen on there is great.

I do agree, though I'd love for DC to retire him in to a coma for a year or something so writers could do something original. You want to write comics, eh? Funnily enough, I'd quite like to do that as a sort of aside. Actually, I'd be quite happy to write professionally sort of freelance, rather than as a proper career. I think the Mad Hatter needs some more focus though. Something really good.

I don't know, is it really THAT blatant?

Am I?

That's fine, hope you like my edits, and I love that you are getting characters to talk more. Funnily enough, Harley McCormack has a bit of a ring to it.

Looking forward to them, send me them two at a time I reckon, I get them in one go that way.

Exactly what I was planning to do. So it'll be #8 and #9 next.

Origins sounds interesting too, just save a juicy one for me!

Um...

Thoughts?

Oh, you've opened up a can of worms now...

All the Thunderbird craft have their merits. Well... except maybe TB5, that was a bit rubbish. But TB1 is ridiculously fast, and look pretty neat. Plus it has that pivoting chair and the automatic camera detector. TB2 is just cool by definition. TB3 looks great (I mean, whoever heard of a red space rocket?), and TB4 sort of has the novelty factor of being so much smaller than the others. Oh, and then there's TB6 but that's even more rubbish than TB5.

I was always a particular fan of the Pod vehicles as well. Maybe because there was such a wide range, there was always something new to look out for. That reminds me, I don't know if you've seen them, because I think they were before your time, but: my Lego Thunderbirds (I was going to put Lego TB, but then thought better of it  ). I'm particularly pleased with the micro Mole.

I was never too fussed on the space ones either, and neither was Gerry Anderson, so he tried to limit the number they did. He didn't like John either, so that's why he only participates on one rescue. Sun Probe however is worth watching just for Brains in that ridiculous cold weather hat.

See, now we've got something else to talk about, episode by episode.

No I haven't, is it any good? I haven't really heard much good about it.

It's not bad. I still prefer the original for it's sheer coolness and cult-ishness (I have a thing for cult TV, especially if it's British), but the new one is a good watch. There's a bit more action than in the old one, and the (sort of) redesigns are all very cool.

Spoil away please, I'm most likely getting it for Christmas as I spent my last pennies on the Lego sets and a new Bible.

Fair enough. The Hero chapters are great. The in-game cinematics have a good dose of humour, but it all feels very Batman. Proper Batman. The overarching story is good, and the vehicle levels (especially the Batboat one) are all great fun. The boss fight against Killer Moth is funny too, they've managed to capture the sheer patheticness of the character.

I've not played all the villain chapters yet, but Clayface plays really well. His arms actually change shape as he punches, and his special attack is to throw a 1x1 of clay. Oh, and guess what Two-Face's special 'attack' is? Yep, he tosses his coin!

Seriously, you need to get the game, it's wonderful. Easily the best of the Lego games.

Monster Men, yes. Detective, yes, but in single issue form. The others, no. Good luck in gettting them though, I probably won't get any comics for Christmas so hopefully you'll get enough for both of us.

I also might be getting BTAS vol 4, which means everything is Batman related, which is at once awesome and in another rather sad

Nah, it's Bat-tastic!

Anyway, two pieces of news. You scored a great deal with your TB boxset. Well yesterday I went into town and found the contents of the Transformers G1 boxset (the original cartoons) in single DVD form. It was one of those bargain shops, and I get the impression they're selling the bits of a few boxsets separately. So, after about 10 minutes of finding all the DVDs on the shelf I picked them up. No, what did I pay? They had them at £2.99 each, or two for £5. There were 13 discs, which came to a total price of £32.99. This is about a third of the normal price of the boxset as a boxset, so I think I got an awesome deal. Now to find time to watch them all...

Now, the other news. There's no real reason for telling you this, I just want to share it. I think I might have mentioned that I'm in a youth theatre group that specialises in pantomime, in a staff/crew role. Anyway, the church hall we've performed the last three in was renovated recently... and they knocked down our stage. So we moved our performance to a proper theatre, but kept the name of the church for the group. Anyway, last night was the grand opening of the new hall, with a theme of Lancashire (my home county). They asked us to perform something about Lancashire. We all thought it would be a bit boring, but we knew we had to do it, so we made something up. There were three crew (out of three, although one of them) and seven of the cast (probably about half) that got involved.

We performed our bit, and it didn't go swimmingly, but never mind. Then we all sort of hid backstage for a bit, then it got a bit weird back there, so myself and one of the female cast members (yes, that's important) went out front to watch the proceedings. It was one of those things that if either of us had watched it one our own it wouldn't have been anywhere near as funny as we both found it. She kept laughing, which was making me laugh, and we were both there at the back perfecting silent laughter, turning around so as not to be seen.

Anyway, it turned out to be one of the best nights out I've had in a long time. And why does this matter? Because I surprised myself by getting on so well with a cast member I've met, like, three times before. And we got one really well. So, you know, watch this space...

Oh, one more thing. Do you ever get that feeling you've seen something before? I do. Hang on... it's here as well.

Posted
And I've been away again.

This time it was rehersals for the panto and something else (more on that later). As for Halloween creations, I think I might see if I can knock something up. Not sure what though...

Yes, damn you

I'm going to post "A Very Batman Halloween" vig as my entry I've decided, I've made Batman take a nice dip in a hole full of snakes. However, another member has posted a vig layour near identical to mine, so I'm now confused!

The sharks do look pretty neat, and I love the buoy. I can see why the boat might need MODing a little bit though, just to tidy it up a bit if nothing else. And of course, the sharks have lasers!

The sharks are great, I'll be sure to use them for a Joker's Five Way Revenge or Laughing Fish vig one day. Speaking of which, have you watched anymore eps?

You want to write comics, eh? Funnily enough, I'd quite like to do that as a sort of aside. Actually, I'd be quite happy to write professionally sort of freelance, rather than as a proper career. I think the Mad Hatter needs some more focus though. Something really good.

I'd really like to do it as a proper job myself, even if DC's editorial staff is full of hacks. (You fired Dixon you barstools!)

But sorry, I've already dibs Mad Hatter as a three story 6 issue special, and i've worked out all the details too.

Funnily enough, Harley McCormack has a bit of a ring to it.

I also like Victor, Victor Fries McCormack.......You are right you know, my name is really un-Batbricky

Exactly what I was planning to do. So it'll be #8 and #9 next.

Nice, tell me when you send them, I'll be much quicker this time, did I make it in time for the others?

All the Thunderbird craft have their merits. Well... except maybe TB5, that was a bit rubbish. But TB1 is ridiculously fast, and look pretty neat. Oh, and then there's TB6 but that's even more rubbish than TB5.

Thunderbird 4 was always my favourite: A small yellow sub that in by far the tiniest of the vehicles, and gets to be an official TB even when it comes out of a TB2 pod like a lot of other vehicles. I dislike TB5 because it can't do anything. At all. Heck it couldn't even send a radio beam so they got TB2 to do it! Love TB2 though, and TB6, mainly because I'm a 1910's to 1940's plane nut

I was always a particular fan of the Pod vehicles as well. Maybe because there was such a wide range, there was always something new to look out for. I'm particularly pleased with the micro Mole.

I love that mole! The other ones are great too, but seriously, that Mole is perfection.

He didn't like John of Alan!? I mean, I don't like them either, but if you're the make that's quite odd. I laughed out loud at that hat, also worn by Virgil (my favorite of the Tracy's), it just looked....stupid

It's not bad. I still prefer the original for it's sheer coolness and cult-ishness (I have a thing for cult TV, especially if it's British), but the new one is a good watch. There's a bit more action than in the old one, and the (sort of) redesigns are all very cool.

I love cult shows too, like Firefly!

Seriously though, I have no problem in admitting a vast majority of my favourite shows come from Britain, there's a great charm to English humour.....that you lack.

Fair enough. The Hero chapters are great. The in-game cinematics have a good dose of humour, but it all feels very Batman. Proper Batman. The overarching story is good, and the vehicle levels (especially the Batboat one) are all great fun. Seriously, you need to get the game, it's wonderful. Easily the best of the Lego games.

Sounds brilliant, which is why i'm glad I have enough money to buy it now! Haha, yes, I couldn't resist, as soon as the PC version comes out here I'm getting, then a wait till Christmas.

EDIT: Got the game with! I agree, it's fantastic, I'm only up to chapter two but I'm getting the hang of where to find red bricks and stuff. I've played as Two-Face and he is awesome, but is punching and firing pistols all he can do? I'm fine with that, but I was confused by your statement, I'm guessing you meant he flicked his coin.

Monster Men, yes. Detective, yes, but in single issue form. The others, no. Good luck in gettting them though, I probably won't get any comics for Christmas so hopefully you'll get enough for both of us.

Thanks! Does Detective introduce the new Ventriloquist and riddler as a PI? Turns out i'm also getting Mad Monk too, I write it on the list before Mum took off to order and the con worked like a treat, read that one

Nah, it's Bat-tastic!

Yippee!

Anyway, two pieces of news. You scored a great deal with your TB boxset. Great, I'm really glad I bought it now, ultimately I'm just a big kid, almost everything I buy is to keep a piece of my childhood alive and stave off having to abandon all my roots.

Well done on your box set too, I wish I could find more places like that....

*snip*

Sounds like you had a great time then, congrats. And congrats on possible future possibilities, I'll let you interpret that one the way you want

Oh, one more thing. Do you ever get that feeling you've seen something before? I do. Hang on... it's here as well.

, don't you just love that! It really is a good design, though I feel my design will consume yours and all others in a hellish crimson fire of death!

My weekend was pretty average, I won A Lonely Place of Dying on Ebay for only 10.00 which is the ultimate bargain, and I did a humurous quiz at my church. Gotta say though, much of my time was spent watching BTAS, Thunderbirds and Futurama.

Batbrick Away!

EDIT: Sorry for the short replies tonight, but I had to go to bed straight away!

Sounds good. I have something much more sinister in mind. Halloween MOC Goody-Bag anyone?

Speaking of which, have you watched anymore eps?

Watched Terror In the Sky the other day, then Almost Got 'Im and Birds of a Feather yesterday. Terror in the Sky (I almost abbreviated it, but then realised what it would spell...) was good. Still prefer Kirk as Man-Bat, but hey-ho. The Batcycle chase was very good though, really quite cool.

AGI was really good, I loved it. Great concept and well executed, with just the right amount of humour thrown in. I notice also that the Giant Penny Escape was more plausable this time (as compared to the reverse polarity magnet from the original comic). And of course, God is in the detail: Joker cheating, Two-Face's double references, etc.

BOAF was also quite good. Can't help but feel there was supposed to be a moral though...

Didn't manage to watch any today, as I started on my TF G1 DVDs instead. No doubt about it, Peter Cullen is Prime.

I also like Victor, Victor Fries McCormack.......You are right you know, my name is really un-Batbricky

Harley sounds better.

Nice, tell me when you send them, I'll be much quicker this time, did I make it in time for the others?

Yeah, fine. I've sent the final completed version of #5 out, and I'll try and get the drafts of #8 and #9 out later this week.

You're right, TB5 really is a bit rubbish. It didn't have any defences against asteroids and such either. Well, no, that's not true, it had a magnetic repellant ring in the outer tube, but that's it. Which episode are you up to so far?

He didn't like John of Alan!? I mean, I don't like them either, but if you're the make that's quite odd. I laughed out loud at that hat, also worn by Virgil (my favorite of the Tracy's), it just looked....stupid

No, he liked Alan. He just found the space stories a bit boring, and really didn't like John.

Virgil's your favourite? I always prefered Scott...

Seriously though, I have no problem in admitting a vast majority of my favourite shows come from Britain, there's a great charm to English humour.....that you lack.

Yeah? Well... I'm funnier than you!

I'm not just singling out comedy or even things with mild humour. There's just a wealth of great TV that's come from Britain, from sci-fi to cop drama and even more in-between. We're lucky to have lots of channels that show these great shows all the time.

Oh, sorry, I got a bit British again. We sometimes call it a coin toss over here. Sorry, I keep forgetting you're not up on your British slang.

I've done about 60% of the game I think. I'm going back over the levels in Free Play at the moment. I have to say, all the levels were really enjoyable to play. The vehicle levels in past Lego games have felt a bit static almost, but the five here have all been great fun. Maybe it's a psychological thing, getting to drive the Batmobile and all...

All the character designs are great as well. As most of the characters have their own unique move, the designers were really able to go to town and personalise each character. Bane with his Knightfall attack, Joker's joy buzzer, Harley's hammer, etc.

You know how Nightwing can use Robin's suits, and Batgirl can use Batman's? Well, when you buy her, take a look at Batgirl in the demolition suit...

The fact that each chapter feels so different as well is a good thing. You feel like you're playing a different game almost, what with Riddler out to steal gold, Penguin out to take over the city, and Joker out to cause as much havoc as he can.

Favourite character design though? Got to be Clayface.

Thanks! Does Detective introduce the new Ventriloquist and riddler as a PI? Turns out i'm also getting Mad Monk too, I write it on the list before Mum took off to order and the con worked like a treat, read that one

Um... if Detective is the first collection (which I think it is) then yes, both those stories are in. Sounds like a good haul you'll be getting there. See, I won't get any. My family won't know which ones to buy me, and I bet they won't ask...

Great, I'm really glad I bought it now, ultimately I'm just a big kid, almost everything I buy is to keep a piece of my childhood alive and stave off having to abandon all my roots.

You know what? I know exactly what you mean. I don't see it like you do, trying to keep my childhood alive, as I don't think of it as dying. Heck, I'm officially an adult now (scary isn't it?) but still feel as young as ever.

Well done on your box set too, I wish I could find more places like that....

You can have some of ours. We've got so many cheap shops over here and they're all full of the same crap.

Sounds like you had a great time then, congrats. And congrats on possible future possibilities, I'll let you interpret that one the way you want

Oh, I did. Heh, I'll keep you updated.

, don't you just love that! It really is a good design, though I feel my design will consume yours and all others in a hellish crimson fire of death!

I wouldn't bet on it!

I mean, the fans have already decided mine is the better option...

My weekend was pretty average, I won A Lonely Place of Dying on Ebay for only 10.00 which is the ultimate bargain, and I did a humurous quiz at my church. Gotta say though, much of my time was spent watching BTAS, Thunderbirds and Futurama.

Ooh, nice deal. I'm a sucker for bargains as well, but I think that's just because I'm British.

EDIT: Sorry for the short replies tonight, but I had to go to bed straight away!

Hey, at least you find time to reply. I had another busy week again last week. What with college during the day, then panto rehersals and helping out at college events I'm running out of time. But I'm on half-term this week, so found time to reply yesterday. As soon as I sat down to trawl the boards, out freezer decided to break (seriously, smoke was pouring out the back of it) and tripped the circuit breaker. It took ages to get it to stay on properly, and my laptop didn't have enough battery life to sustain a proper session. What's worse is that we haven't bought a new one yet... :hmpf_bad:

Nice, I love those eps, most of all Almost Got 'Im. The Batcycle chase really is neat I agree, plus I love to see more Batwing. Gotta love Bats playing Croc as an idiot though

I'm now getting BTAS volume 4 for Christmas, so that'll be fun. i've been going over them recently, and I must say I never get sick of Heart of Ice, it peevs me that comic writers have yet to make a good Mr Freeze story.

Didn't manage to watch any today, as I started on my TF G1 DVDs instead. No doubt about it, Peter Cullen is Prime.

Oh he is, in the words of Doctor Zoidberg "Such a man!"

Yeah, fine. I've sent the final completed version of #5 out, and I'll try and get the drafts of #8 and #9 out later this week.

Great, I'll get onto that soon!

You're right, TB5 really is a bit rubbish. It didn't have any defences against asteroids and such either. Well, no, that's not true, it had a magnetic repellant ring in the outer tube, but that's it. Which episode are you up to so far?

Atleast it looks like a space station though, I just finished watching The Uninvited and Operation Crashdive. The former was pretty good, great to see some marionette action, as well as some baddies, even if we learnt nothing of them or their intentions. Still didn't beat the high mark set by Trapped in the Sky though. The latter though was brilliant, great gordon sea action (Gordon was my favourite as a kid) and the constant change of pace and scenery was really refreshing. Love that the saboteur remains a mystery at the end too, I know it may seem like a cop out but I like the ambiguous touch (though he did resemble one of the flight planners from earlier).

No, he liked Alan. He just found the space stories a bit boring, and really didn't like John.

Virgil's your favourite? I always prefered Scott...

What? I like John, Alan I can't stand, he's got a perma-blush. John is slick.

Yeah? Well... I'm funnier than you!

What kind of retort is that? You're not even trying!

I'm not just singling out comedy or even things with mild humour. There's just a wealth of great TV that's come from Britain, from sci-fi to cop drama and even more in-between. We're lucky to have lots of channels that show these great shows all the time.

I agree, like Spaced. Watch it, only 14 eps of comedy gold. Though I do love Kath and Kim here....

Oh, sorry, I got a bit British again. We sometimes call it a coin toss over here. Sorry, I keep forgetting you're not up on your British slang.

No, we call it that here too, I was just clarifying.

Really? I've done 74%! What can I say? I REALLY love the game. You are right, the levels are really enjoyable to go over, and as you say the vehicles are far better tihs time round. Though I am a bit annoyed that of the three batvehicles, the Batmobile is the one with only a single level :hmpf_bad:

All the character designs are great as well. As most of the characters have their own unique move, the designers were really able to go to town and personalise each character. Bane with his Knightfall attack, Joker's joy buzzer, Harley's hammer, etc.

You know how Nightwing can use Robin's suits, and Batgirl can use Batman's? Well, when you buy her, take a look at Batgirl in the demolition suit...

My favourite attack is Harley's Hammer and Bane's knightfall attack, as well as Scarecrow's fear atttack. You were right about Killer Moth too, the cutscenes had me damn near unable to breath, his obsession with bright lights is genius. Love the cutscene with Batman looking up Capes.com as well

Favourite character design though? Got to be Clayface.

Mine's definitely Manbat and Mad Hatter, they are both so perfect, especially with Mad Hatter little propeller in his hat to double jump.

Um... if Detective is the first collection (which I think it is) then yes, both those stories are in. Sounds like a good haul you'll be getting there. See, I won't get any. My family won't know which ones to buy me, and I bet they won't ask...

Apparently Death in the city, Paul Dini's direct followup to Detective includes the new Ventriloquist intro, so i'm getting that for Christmas too. As well as Gotham Central: Dead Robin. Seriously mate, I cannot have enough of this stuff, plus I get to read more than you

Did I mention I'm also getting Face the Face from my sister as well?

You know what? I know exactly what you mean. I don't see it like you do, trying to keep my childhood alive, as I don't think of it as dying. Heck, I'm officially an adult now (scary isn't it?) but still feel as young as ever.

Very cool, I worded my explanation badly though. I don't see my childhood as dying, I see it as having the possibility of dying should I forget it. I'd much rather be a big kid and have my fun. Plus if anyone ever ridicules me for having childish comics I'll let them borrow Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison off me and see how that shuts them up. MUHAHAHAHA! :skull:

You can have some of ours. We've got so many cheap shops over here and they're all full of the same crap.

Yeah but 99% of everything humanity makes is crap, so it might as well be the same!

I wouldn't bet on it!

I mean, the fans have already decided mine is the better option...

Wait till they see mine, it IS the Batpod, though I am a huge fan of yours to be honest, love the wheel configuration.

Hey, at least you find time to reply. I had another busy week again last week. What with college during the day, then panto rehersals and helping out at college events I'm running out of time. Oh, that's not good at all is it?

Me? Lately I've just been playing Lego Batman and making more Batcharacters. Go to my Brickshelf, what do you think of my Ra's?

I also ended up buying A Lonely place of Dying myself and loved it, slight cheesiness but in the end has far more heart than any of the crap Morrison or other writers are making these days. I've also realised I hate Dan Didio and the DC staff. Making Cass a villain? Killing off Batman? Killing off Spoiler albeit temporarily? Destroying Leslie's character? Killing Tim Drake's dad? I seriously think I'd do a better job than 90% of these pathetic hacks. Grrr.

Sorry, I just really hate modern DC right now.

Batbrick Away!

Ooh! Looking forward to it!

It's up. Head over there to be chilled... :skull:

Oh, apologies in advance for when you find out what your cameo entails.

I'm now getting BTAS volume 4 for Christmas, so that'll be fun.

:hmpf_bad: Lucky...

Great, I'll get onto that soon!

I'll have to send them first! Oh, and don't edit #5 it's finished. I don't want to have to go through all that again, like I did when you sent back the finished #4.

I just finished watching The Uninvited and Operation Crashdive. The former was pretty good, great to see some marionette action, as well as some baddies, even if we learnt nothing of them or their intentions.

"Garanga kabuko otulo. Nik nik tarassa!" Great as new baddies are, they can't beat the Hood for sheer determination and general rubbsh-ness. The harder he tries, the more he fails.

"Kyrano! Kyrano!"

Trapped in the Sky is great though. I do like how the guest cast from that cropped up in the other Fireflash episodes though, as an added bit of continuity. The one you need to watch is The Duchess Assignment, solely because the voice of the Duchess of Royston is provided by Ray Barrett (the Hood). Apparantly, the voice had the rest of the cast in hysterics. Understandably.

What kind of retort is that? You're not even trying!

Yeah? Well... I'm trying harder than you!

I would have done more, but it won't play on my laptop so I'm having to share the house computer. Why is it there's no-one on when you're busy, then as soon as I find time someone else mysteriously needs to use it...

Have you come across Mad Hatter's steamboat yet?

My favourite attack is Harley's Hammer and Bane's knightfall attack, as well as Scarecrow's fear atttack. You were right about Killer Moth too, the cutscenes had me damn near unable to breath, his obsession with bright lights is genius. Love the cutscene with Batman looking up Capes.com as well

Ivy's attack is quite neat as well. Like you said, the Killer Moth cutscenes are great, as was capes.com. In fact, that whole scene with Alfred and the bombs was great. There;s also the cutscene near the end of Chapter 1 when Bats is working out what all the riddles mean, and Alfred is dusting the Batcomputer in the background.

Mine's definitely Manbat and Mad Hatter, they are both so perfect, especially with Mad Hatter little propeller in his hat to double jump.

Man-Bat does look great, and I do love the propellor-hat. We so need TLG to make one of those.

Well maybe it is Death in the City. I'm reading them as single issues, so I'm not sure where one collection ends and the other one begins. You didn't mention it, no, but I sense you're just rubbing it in.

Oh, and you might read more than me, but I shall always be the bigger geek!

Wait till they see mine, it IS the Batpod, though I am a huge fan of yours to be honest, love the wheel configuration.

Even if the front one does wobble a little as it rolls. Ah well...

Oh, that's not good at all is it?

To be honest, I'm not surprised it broke. Seriously, it's older than me.

Me? Lately I've just been playing Lego Batman and making more Batcharacters. Go to my Brickshelf, what do you think of my Ra's?

I saw that the other day, forgot to mention it. I like it, it looks good. I think it would look better with a moustache, but for a purist choice of head it's good.

Sorry, I just really hate modern DC right now.

Really? I hadn't noticed...

It's up. Head over there to be chilled... :skull:

Oh, apologies in advance for when you find out what your cameo entails.

It was very cool, I might post a few little Halloween things too. I already have a Batman Halloween vig as well.

:hmpf_bad: Lucky...

Too bad you can't even get Season 3, I really hope that becomes available eventually.

Also, in the meantime one of my friends doesn't want his Lego anymore, so I'm buying bits of it, and he has a lot! He has two of the Harry Potter buses so I'm getting every purple piece he has for Joker and Riddler to enjoy, as well as all his tan for Wayne Manor. Naturally i'll also get hairpieces, minifig part and other bits that'll be useful.

I'll have to send them first! Oh, and don't edit #5 it's finished. I don't want to have to go through all that again, like I did when you sent back the finished #4.

Oh that was horrible. No editing #5 gotcha, you just tell me when you send the next ones then :classic:

"Garanga kabuko otulo. Nik nik tarassa!" Great as new baddies are, they can't beat the Hood for sheer determination and general rubbish-ness. The harder he tries, the more he fails.

"Kyrano! Kyrano!"

The Hood is hilarious, one really must wonder how useful those photos could honestly be anyway

One thing I do love about Thunderbirds is its focus on less flamboyant villains. I just watched Brink of disaster which was a great episode, I love that it had two problems going on at once: Lady Penelope being robbed and the monorail. Also great to see Jeff Tracy out in the field and bagging the crap out of the badguy. The bit with Parker and Penelope with the tommy guns and roundabout car were hilarious too. This ep also had great explosions.

Also watched Vault of death a week ago, this is one of my favourite childhood memories and it is just as good now. Sheer comedy, especially with light fingered Freddie at the end, the ep was a brilliant show form start to finish.

Did I imply that Trapped in the Sky wasn't good?

Unfortunately, The Duchess Assignment is a while away, so don't spoil things!

Yeah? Well... I'm trying harder than you!

What kind of a retort is that? You're not even trying!

I would have done more, but it won't play on my laptop so I'm having to share the house computer. Why is it there's no-one on when you're busy, then as soon as I find time someone else mysteriously needs to use it...

Have you come across Mad Hatter's steamboat yet?

Mad Hatter's speedboat is hilarious, I cracked up laughing when I saw it in action, it does NOTHING!

I unlocked both the bonus levels too and must say I'm a bit disappointed. Are the bonus levels usually that basic?

Well maybe it is Death in the City. I'm reading them as single issues, so I'm not sure where one collection ends and the other one begins. You didn't mention it, no, but I sense you're just rubbing it in.

Yeah, rubbing it in is my style really. I'll share with you though  Turns out for some reason I can't order Death and the City and The Man Who Laughs form the store, so hopefully I can convince mum to order the online, otherwise I'll have shot myself in the foot, and then put my foot in my mouth

Oh, and you might read more than me, but I shall always be the bigger geek!

Bigger geek? Yes. Bigger Batgeek? Not for long! Muhahahahahaha!

To be honest, I'm not surprised it broke. Seriously, it's older than me.

It gets that way doesn't it? was it a nostalgic item for you? I always get that way?

Oh and btw, that pic of you in the Halloween thread is hilarious.

I saw that the other day, forgot to mention it. I like it, it looks good. I think it would look better with a moustache, but for a purist choice of head it's good.

Grrr. For the LAST time: Ra's does NOT have a moustache!!!!!

(No seriously, I had to remind you of this last time as well)

Speaking of Ra's though, here's one of his best stories ever:

Oh very funny. But really, even you have to admit they're going a bit far as of recent?

Ooh, nice. Poor Batsss... let'sss sssee him essscape from thisss one.

Too bad you can't even get Season 3, I really hope that becomes available eventually.

So do I mate.

There's always something nice about getting a big bunch of someone elses Lego. Most of the pieces are useful but somewhat regular and boring... then right at the bottom you find a gem of a piece.

The Hood is hilarious, one really must wonder how useful those photos could honestly be anyway

This ep also had great explosions.

Apparantly, if you watch the opening sequence of Brink of Disaster when the villains car goes out of control, you can see a huge chunk of greenery just randomly fall out of the sky.

You know... Jeff hardly does anything. He barely leaves the island all series, and practically lives behind his desk. Actually, have you come across his stern face yet? It really is a gem to behold.

Oh, and tell me when you get to Edge of Impact, I have a wonderful factoid about that.

Did I imply that Trapped in the Sky wasn't good?

Unfortunately, The Duchess Assignment is a while away, so don't spoil things!

No, not at all. I just displayed an unusually bad grasp of linguistics (for me) when agreeing with you. Don't worry, I won't give away the plot. But you do see the character in an entirely different light when viewed as what is essentially a Panto Dame.

Mad Hatter's speedboat is hilarious, I cracked up laughing when I saw it in action, it does NOTHING!

I unlocked both the bonus levels too and must say I'm a bit disappointed. Are the bonus levels usually that basic?

Exactly. I mean, at least his glider has a weapon.

I've not quite got round to playing either bonus level (I've unlocked both though), but if they're the 'collect a million studs' type, then LSW2 and Indy had one each. I quite like them actually, but I admit they're not that challenging.

Yeah, rubbing it in is my style really. I'll share with you though  Turns out for some reason I can't order Death and the City and The Man Who Laughs form the store, so hopefully I can convince mum to order the online, otherwise I'll have shot myself in the foot, and then put my foot in my mouth

Ha ha ha, looks like my plan worked Poor you. Hopefully you'll get them elsewhere though.

And yes, I realise how creepy that 'poor you' just sounded...

It gets that way doesn't it? was it a nostalgic item for you? I always get that way?

Not really. It's funny, the handle broke off years ago, and no effort was made to fix it. We've had to struggle to open it since. Interestingly, the fridge handle has broken off in much the same way...

Oh and btw, that pic of you in the Halloween thread is hilarious.

You certainly seem to like it, I have to say. Even if you can't see my face. Is there something you're not telling me?

But have you noticed just how similar my hair is to my sigfig's?

Grrr. For the LAST time: Ra's does NOT have a moustache!!!!!

(No seriously, I had to remind you of this last time as well)

See Bat-minifigs 4.

Speaking of Ra's though, here's one of his best stories ever:

I'll make sure to read it later.

Oh very funny. But really, even you have to admit they're going a bit far as of recent?

I mean, as a DC fanboy I'm almost programmed to intrinsically love (or at least like) everything they put out. I think they're going in an interesting direction with Final Crisis and the like, and I'll be interested to see where it goes. However, I do think there are a few things that they shouldn't have done. I mean, Barry Allen was great as the Flash, but is it really a good idea to brng him back? Surely that undermines his sacrifice. And they've just killed

Pa Kent

! How could they?

But I still find DC vastly superior to everything Marvel (with the possible exception of the Fantastic Four, as I do quite like them).

In other news, I came out as an AFOL to Jenny (the girl from the panto) the other day. Heh, she thought it was kind of cute.

.....What!?

I'll get started on it soon, both a Halloween Collection and a Batman Halloween Special. Even if they are late

So do I mate.

Yeah, that truly is annoying. Still, if you ever want links, I can give them.

The by was also confirmed from Ebay yesterday, so that's another gem to look forward to, especially with Mad Love in it.

There's always something nice about getting a big bunch of someone elses Lego. Most of the pieces are useful but somewhat regular and boring... then right at the bottom you find a gem of a piece.

That's the way it goes. I'm doing it mainly for the purple and minifig pieces, but the tan is essential for when I make my Wayne Manor. Bley is a good thing to look out for too, considering I'm planning on making a few Gotham buildings.

Apparantly, if you watch the opening sequence of Brink of Disaster when the villains car goes out of control, you can see a huge chunk of greenery just randomly fall out of the sky.

I just watched it on youtube! It's true! Here, look at precisely six minutes in:

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=GQpGeu8fcow

You know... Jeff hardly does anything. He barely leaves the island all series, and practically lives behind his desk. Actually, have you come across his stern face yet? It really is a gem to behold.

Oh, and tell me when you get to Edge of Impact, I have a wonderful factoid about that.

His stern face is absolutely legend, as is to a smaller extent Virgil's. I just watched Terror in New York City and I must say this is another wonderful episode. Seriously, it has it all: Firefly action at the beginning (more on that in a sec), Scott being a jerk to the reporters for taking a photo, military versus TB 2 was awesome, crash landing (the first time we get to see how TB2 lands btw), the outlandish aspect of moving the empire State Building, heavy use of Gordon and TB4 my favourites and best of all the full showing of the team at the end in the audience.

As for the Firefly bit though, Virgil how exactly do you figure a blazing massive fire at an oil well can be put out via an EXPLOSION!?

Exactly. I mean, at least his glider has a weapon.

I've not quite got round to playing either bonus level (I've unlocked both though), but if they're the 'collect a million studs' type, then LSW2 and Indy had one each. I quite like them actually, but I admit they're not that challenging.

Yeah, the design is so ingenius I'd almost build it myself. THe bonuse levels are pretty poor quality graphics, espeically the Arkham one, and the Wayne Manor level you don't even go into the Manor. That's the only really disappointing part of it for me.

The best part of the game though? Getting Spoiler as a create character! Seriously man, I squealed when I saw that, Steph is to me what Babs is to you

Ha ha ha, looks like my plan worked Poor you. Hopefully you'll get them elsewhere though.

And yes, I realise how creepy that 'poor you' just sounded...

Maybe your plan didn't work, Mum is coming round to the idea of ordering one off Amazon or Ebay. Too bad it turns out she can't remember which one she ordered, so now I have to wait till tomorrow till she can call them and ask, then I can determine which one to get.

In the mean time I bought Arkham Asylum by Grant Morrison at Birchalls. Desite my hatred of him it's still quite good, and the art is fascinating, definitely more enjoyable if you notice more things the second time. Only take symbolism from the actual story though (Madness is sometimes what makes us who we are, Our inner demons drive us but do not control us etc) and NOT the Grant Morrison script though. Seriously, it is the biggest load of trite you'll ever read and it just reinforces my hatred and bloodlust for him. I'll give you a quote later, it's actually quite amusing seeing him think that referencing something which also means something else which also means something else is a metaphor. No Morrison, referencing a goldfish, which can be seen as Pisces, which represents the Christian fish sign, which represents Christ's journey, which can be seen as a parallel to Osiris, who made a trip into the underworld like Batman makes a trip into Arkham, is not a metahpor. It is convoluted rubbish.

What do you think of the story?

You certainly seem to like it, I have to say. Even if you can't see my face. Is there something you're not telling me?

Yes. I have a crush on you.

Kidding, what a shocker huh? No, I just thought it was so anticlimactic. It's like when you said my name was totally unBatbricky, your look is just not Brainboxy!

Speaking of looks though, my mother and I went out and picked a nice Leavers suit for me on Saturday. I have a lot of love for the 1920-1940s stylish period, so I bought a black suit with prominent white pinstripes, with a red striped tie and red handkerchief

But have you noticed just how similar my hair is to my sigfig's?

It actually is. Get a haircut you Hippie!

See Bat-minifigs 4.

No! It is NOT a moustache! You are wrong! I am right! Stephanie Brown is awesome! you are wrong!

Okay, I'll get over it, but I still think it is not a moustache. You do like the fig though right?

I'll make sure to read it later.

Cool, I'll post some other stories for you if you ever want them :sweet:

I mean, as a DC fanboy I'm almost programmed to intrinsically love (or at least like) everything they put out. Surely that undermines his sacrifice. And they've just killed

Pa Kent

! How could they?

Please, that is peanuts to screwing up Leslie and Cass. After all, Cass used to be one of my favourite characters!

Plus trying to make Tim Drake an angsty character is a joke, he was a brilliant character because he didn't have a tragic backstory!

Plus Jonn Johnnz getting killed off too. Though I laughed at Superman's "We can only hope ofr a speed resurrection", it was awesome to see a DC character aware of how weirdly the universe works.

But I still find DC vastly superior to everything Marvel (with the possible exception of the Fantastic Four, as I do quite like them).

Definitely. Marvel's "Hero you can relate to" policy was good at first, but now it gets ridiculous. That's why DC is great, in Superman you have the kind of hero everyone aspires to be. Plus Marvel made Peter forget his marriage and made Iron Man a fascist. Bah! The only fascist is Mark Millar!

Speaking of Superman being a true hero, you should really watch those Marvel/Dc vids on Youtube, I swear the After hours arc was better than any Superhero movie ever.

In other news, I came out as an AFOL to Jenny (the girl from the panto) the other day. Heh, she thought it was kind of cute.

Oh, that's not good mate. Cute is not what you want.

Batbrick Away!

.....What!?

I couldn't think of a snake-related pun, so settled for snake-speak instead.

Yeah, that truly is annoying. Still, if you ever want links, I can give them.

I can only get Region 2 or Universal DVDs though. Universal codes are relatively rare, and it not being on R2 is the problem. :sceptic:

His stern face is absolutely legend, as is to a smaller extent Virgil's. I just watched Terror in New York City and I must say this is another wonderful episode. Seriously, it has it all: Firefly action at the beginning (more on that in a sec), Scott being a jerk to the reporters for taking a photo, military versus TB 2 was awesome, crash landing (the first time we get to see how TB2 lands btw), the outlandish aspect of moving the empire State Building, heavy use of Gordon and TB4 my favourites and best of all the full showing of the team at the end in the audience.

Funnily enough, the destroyed Empire State Building crops up in a stock photo (from the 60s) of NY in the first episode of Captain Scarlet despite CS being set later in the same universe. I suppose they could have rebuilt it though...

Anyway, I liked that episode too. Actually, that said, you know where Virgil has that bandage round his head? For some reason it scared the hell out of me as a kid, and I look at the picture now and it still scares me.

I was explaining to my sister the other day how the palm trees are alive despite being able to swing back. Turns out they're in pivoting grow-tanks.

As for the Firefly bit though, Virgil how exactly do you figure a blazing massive fire at an oil well can be put out via an EXPLOSION!?

Nitro-glycerine shells apparantly, to starve the fire of oxygen. Not a good idea on an oil fire though...

Seriously man, I squealed when I saw that, Steph is to me what Babs is to you

Stalk victim?

Only take symbolism from the actual story though (Madness is sometimes what makes us who we are, Our inner demons drive us but do not control us etc) and NOT the Grant Morrison script though.

Funny thing is though, you find yourself reading the script and, no matter how strange or tenuous the link, going "Yeah... yeah, I can see that..."

It's a good read though, if only for the creepy art and that great word-association scene with Batman. I could do with reading it again, in fact, the last time I read it was a good while ago.

Kidding, what a shocker huh? No, I just thought it was so anticlimactic. It's like when you said my name was totally unBatbricky, your look is just not Brainboxy!

Huh... I thought I might have finally found someone.

But I guess no-one ever looks like you expect them to. And you've not even seen my face yet!

Speaking of looks though, my mother and I went out and picked a nice Leavers suit for me on Saturday. I have a lot of love for the 1920-1940s stylish period, so I bought a black suit with prominent white pinstripes, with a red striped tie and red handkerchief

I didn't even bother with a suit. I went in a shirt and tie, but said no to a jacket. Incidentally, I think the tie only cost me £2.50!

Plus Jonn Johnnz getting killed off too.

Oh yeah, J'onn as well, forgot about him. Not sure how.

Plus Marvel made Peter forget his marriage and made Iron Man a fascist. Bah! The only fascist is Mark Millar!

See, there are some things in comics that shouldn't under any circumstances be messed with: Lois and Clark, Batman is Bruce Wayne, Peter and MJ, Reed and Sue, Ma and Pa Kent. There are more, but they're the main ones.

Just... leave them alone.

Oh, that's not good mate. Cute is not what you want.

Hey, it's better than running in fear.
