Seasider Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Hi I’m after some help with worm gears and what gears they mesh to. I was trying to start with 4716 Worm Gear and I can see it meshes easily to 3648 the 24 tooth gear but can you mesh it to the 28 or 36 tooth double bevel gears? When I marry them up it looks like I get a spacing that doesn’t look like whole studs or even half a stud. Or are there some other suggestions. I’d ideally like to use one of these 2 bevel gears. Thanks Quote
Jurss Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 It is not necessary to make very proper mesh, so You can try halfstud also, just make shure, that they wont skip. Also wormgear can touch one side of normal gear. So, there can be offset also in other axis. f.i. turntable connection to worm gear, which works really good Quote

Unless it's at the start of a sentence, the Y in "you" is written in lower case. Quote

Anyone else got good experiences at worm gears and bevels? Quote

Aurorasaurus Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 struggling to find solutions i like for a trophy truck bodywork. i want to make something that looks good without copying anyone elses design outright. any/all suggestions welcome. lime/black will likely be the main colors. Quote
Jurss Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 Trophy trucks are pretty similar by their shape, also available panels are limited, so you will struggle :) just try to arrange them different ways, maybe you will come up with something interesting. Quote
Aurorasaurus Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 okay. thank you :) https://bricksafe.com/pages/Aurorasaurus/awd-trophy-truck chassis photos available here Quote
MikeTwo9398 Posted November 11, 2023 Posted November 11, 2023 (edited) Just a question if someone else has the same issue as I do at this moment. When I want to control 42140 with the control+ app on my Android telephone, a Samsung A52, it keeps hanging when the green bar is full. Other vehicles work ok. I tried re-installing the app, restarted my phone, same problem. on my daughters I-phone all works ok. Am I the only one with this moment? Edited November 11, 2023 by MikeTwo9398 Quote

Aurorasaurus Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 ive been building a trophy truck from the body then the chassis now, as it seems to work better for me. this one is very similar to madocas truck on the outside, the roof and sides are near identical, and the front bumper is similar as well. however, as the internals should be pretty different and the body isnt an exact 1 for 1 replica, im thinking its fine. just looking for any feedback anybody has regarding this bodywork. i do want to add a bullbar but haven't got round to it yet. suffocation Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Has anyone figured out how to use the 3rd-gen turntable with the smaller banana gears (https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=78442&idColor=11#T=C&C=11)? I'm building a mid-scale rough terrain crane and can't for the life of me figure out how to set up an assembly akin to the one used on 42082. Quote

It may not be practical to build an octagonal structure that small. The easiest way would be use round 1x1 tiles as rollers in the groove, if they fit. They work well in the bigger gear rack, not sure about this one, it might be too small. Second easiest way would be just use a 4 roller structure instead of 8. Quote

You can try to use different pins (1.5) and also those thing with ball (I have there straight hose connctors, as they add littlebit more distance from that pin, maybe lipstick parts can be used) at the end also in other 4 postions. Those two, who have those ball parts, those wheels could be littlebit closer. It would be good to have those pins otherwau arount, but that part with ball then doesn't hold in, it drops out. For octagon, could be option to build that structure "outside", but then it wont be held together tightly and with heavy use it could disintegrate Edited November 14, 2023 by Jurss Quote

Contacted Lego Service, Issue solved Advice was to delete the Storage and Cache and reinstall the Control+ app on my phone: device settings - apps - control+ - storage and cache After doing so for some reason the Storage was nog removed. I delete the Storage and Cache again but did not reinstall the App and then the issue was solved. Quote

Wanting to get my hands on the new gearbox pieces but wondering if they will decrease in price as they get older? specifically couldn’t believe that the new 2m gear gear shifter ring was 6$ aud Quote

I'm in the same boat as you, really wanting those new parts, but not willing to pay those prices! Probably patience will pay off, whether via Bricklink, cheaper sets being released with those parts, or PAB getting cheaper... Quote
stuffs Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 I just signed up, would anyone be able to help me find a piece or pieces to make the scooped out shape on the side panel and through the door in 1/8 scale? Also the inner section of back lights is tricky, but for the outer section im using a small red technic panel upside down (panel fairings 21 and 22) to get the thin line, and for the inside im try ing to use an even smaller one on the lowest part (fairings 7 and 8) with small tooth at the other end, but with nothing to fill the gap. Last problem- I need a piece for the front center grill, if anyone could help find some pieces that would be awesome! thanks Quote
Seasider Posted November 23, 2023 Posted November 23, 2023 Hi and welcome to the forum. Firstly good luck with building this, I’ve been trying to build a 1:8 scale car for ages and not got very far (all my own fault). In terms of your issues some photos of what you’ve got so far are more likely to help people understand where your issues are. Just recommending a piece without knowing how it will fit with others is tricky especially as we can’t visualise what this looks like in 1:8 technic easily. Someone might recommend a part and it would completely throw the rest of your work out. For example for the grille are you after pieces to make the grille or the Jag badge on the grille ? Not easy to understand from your description. Finally a couple of bits of Eurobricks etiquette… You don’t need a thread title that long, think short and snappy Newspaper headline. If you called this thread 1:8 Jaguar CX-75 you’d still get interest. The rest of the text could have then gone in your post. Don’t forget to introduce yourself… we’re a a friendly bunch. Also for this sort of post you may actually want to use the “Generic Building Help Topic” which is at the top of this forum. That’s where a lot of these sort of questions get asked. Finally you’ve chosen a very interesting vehicle, shame it never made it into production. I recently saw one in the British Motor Museum. Good luck with this Quote
