RichardGoring Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 So many good ideas were rejected, but hopefully they allow them to go into the Bricklink Designer Program. The selected ideas are great though and I look forward to seeing them developed. Quote

Rooting for the Medieval Alchemist, Art Center, Mushroom House, Witch House, and Ancient Greek Temple! Quote
jonwil Posted February 15, 2023 Posted February 15, 2023 The red phone booth looks interesting, its an iconic symbol of the UK and its almost as well known around the world as that other famous red British object, the Routemaster bus. I wouldn't say no to it if the final design looks good and I can afford one. Plus its also got the famous red post box of the Royal Mail in the design as well. Quote

Lemerbrix Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Bts set revealed today honestly, can’t wait to find this for $35 at target like the queer eye set Quote
RichardGoring Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I don't think it will fall flat like the Queer Eye set. The BTS fan base is HUGE and it will be snapped up. Personally it looks a bit bland and not nearly as interesting as the Queer Eye set. I've not seen the music video, but I assume that it's stylistically simple and that the set reflects that, hence the lack of detail. A shame for me and many AFOLs, but I suspect it will bring a lot of joy to many others. Hope the building experience is fun for them. Quote
Polarlicht Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I just don't understand this BTS set! Random band with random song playing in the radio now and then. Couldn't care less! But if there really are a lot of fans of this, great for them. We don't need to like every Lego set, right. Quote
Lucarex Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 Let's be honest, from concept to execution, it's a embarrassing entry in the history of IDEAS that'll deservedly gather dust in bargain bins before long. WTF were they thinking? Cringeworthy. On 2/8/2023 at 6:23 PM, RichardGoring said: So many good ideas were rejected, but hopefully they allow them to go into the Bricklink Designer Program. That minigolf set that lost out in the vote (Target?) to the Viking village, needs an invite to the BDP party. Quote

I get that it's aimed at pre-teen girls (and their mums probably) but that's no excuse for it to look like it was designed by one. The Spice Girls BH set also got a lot of attention at launch, but sold very poorly and heavily discounted (40-50%) at S@H before long, lined up for an early EOL fate thereafter. Quote
TeriXeri Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 (edited) Best part about the set to me are to see that the Lime Green palm leaves are still made, and not just exclusive to 4 2020 Friends sets. The Donut and Record store are fun builds, as are the Town-style "icecream to go" but the disco front looks very basic. A big focus seems to have gone into the stage + figures of course , it's a music group, the stage parts likely include a whole bunch of techic gears, only a few are seen in the images. Maple Posted February 16, 2023 Posted February 16, 2023 I'm fine with LEGO doing boy bands. They make enough sets for everyone and I like different. The song has 1.6 billion views...and it was in English. I was confused. But this... this is horrible. It might be an okay set if there were some, ANY, printed pieces and for a $100 for 750 pieces? No thanks. That's too much for the 7, pretty neat looking, minifigures. The Ideas thing was terrible to begin with. LEGO should have downsized the set because no one cares about anything other than the minifigures anyways. Quote
siuliano Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Hi everyone, Though I'd post the latest version of The Martian here that includes the MAV, Rover 2, The Hab and Pathfinder. Hope you like it. Some amazing projects on here, have supported a bunch of them :) Keep building / creating amigos.Link to The Martian on LEGO IDEAS Quote
jonwil Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 There are a LOT of BTS fans who will happily pay this much for BTS merch and LEGO knows it. Quote

People here underestimate BTS fans will to buy anything with the brand on, Lego obviously inflated the price because they know they can get away with it. If it helps you imagine, this is basically their own No Way Home spoiler set. Quote
Polarlicht Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 (edited) It's an easy cash grab. Cheap to produce. Sold to millions of possible customers, who maybe buy another lego set after this one! This is the only reason they made it a set! They saw how quick it reached 10k subs... STONKS Edited February 17, 2023 by Polarlicht Quote

Perhaps this is their experiment - trying to see if venturing out on these kinds of things will rake them more money than say, what AFOLs truly want. :( Quote

(not even lego marvel is gaurenteed to get new head prints! lego has alot of faith in this set and my prediction is that ultimately, theyre gonna win BIG time) Quote
Polarlicht Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 (edited) It's just new minifig prints they do quite a few times every year. Nothing special. They will win big time when they saw how quick it gained 10k and after a google search on how many fans other bts merch has. Edited February 23, 2023 by Polarlicht Quote
