At least you managed to get the first one in (can't believe they have a limit of 3, no wonder they're all gone so fast). When I checked, it was already on backorder. I didn't think I had to stay glued to my computer and hit the refresh button every single second the entire day, but boy I was wrong.

Nope, I didn’t get the first one either.  The order went through and they said 3-5 business days.  Then 5 minutes later they changed it into “backordered”.  Then about ten minutes later they made it “Out of stock”...

I still think it’s totally stupid of LEGO to not have enough copies lined up (for the US market ?).  It might be their biggest market to sell this set to; alone for the fact that most Lamborghini’s are sold in the US as well...

...Still pissing me of when I think of it... :damn:

Ah man that's even worse, I'm sorry to hear that. I can tell you that I feel pretty disheartened about it (like you and everyone else who hasn't been able to get one and likely won't see it until mid-July).

I also couldn't agree more. They hyped this set for more than a month, and they knew they were going to have a hit, because this happened with the Bugatti and Porsche; they were big hits. They pushed it via social media, on car websites, and I mean, just look at this forum; it's got 73 damn pages of discussion. So, knowing that, plus knowing that once they run out they won't be able to produce as many right away (because of COVID) they still allowed people to order up to three at a time. I have no problem with people buying multiple copies of sets, but TLG shouldn't have allowed purchase of more than one at a time, at least for the first wave of sets, just so everyone had more of an equal chance to get one, even if it still ended up on backorder.

Also, time zones. By the time it was June 1 here in Canada, it was already June 1 in Europe and other parts of the world; TLG's site just said "Coming soon June 1, 2020" so I imagine others had a rather unfair advantage to purchase well ahead of time. I have no one to blame but myself in that regard, as I should've known to go online when it became June 1 elsewhere, but still... I did not think it would be this extreme.

It's a bit disappointing the videocasts are still not available.

This is the link to them by the way, according to the instructions:

And now that one says “Naleveren”...  as well.  (“Backorder”).   :innocent:

Germany is now to 1 per customer, backorder with shipping on 8th June as well

I stayed up to midnight and ordered it today at 00:01:laugh: ... currently "in warehouse"

You even could have ordered 2 at this time, until this morning. Shame they went sold out so fast and not everyone got a chance!

The same situation at Poland. My order is still in warehouse.

It was actually in stock online for a long time (in the Netherlands) to be honest. It got put on backorder for a lot of people in the UK and USA, but here it was in stock until about 15:00/3PM. Utrecht stock was gone too by then, but Amsterdam still had them.

I should have known better as well. The Porsche was a disaster that lasted for over a month for online availability; I bought mine at the store in San Diego, and went home with two of them at store opening.
Figured I learned a lesson for the next time; I went to the store in La Jolla (slightly closer and a new store that wasn’t there in 2016), and got my Bugatti there, this time I only wanted one.
And now here we are; I called both stores and they said right away that they didn’t get any (new) sets delivered since the beginning of March, when the COVID shutdowns started to happen.  I understand that totally, and have no problem with that.
LEGO changed shipping company here in California; so I figured it would be ok, also thinking that they would back up the stores by having more for online sale...  I was wrong...

In the Netherlands we have a saying that states that “a donkey never hurts himself at the same stone twice”,...  I’m officially dumber than that donkey now...  :roflmao: :wall:

But it’s all good; I didn’t loose any money, I will eventually get a copy (or two...) later, and maybe LEGO will fix the lime color-tone problem in the meantime ?  (I know; wishful thinking... ).

So, back to being  “H...A...P...P...Y...” again !

Thanks for the Link! :-)

It's kind of ironic to watch the Episode 10 where Markus Kossmann talks about creating new Lego elements. At around 5:00 he says "We have to be careful, that it (the new piece) does look like lego... If it's too spacy or too round, then it's not a lego element..."

Guess who is the designer of the 42113 concrete mixer...?

Interesting for sure. Highly recommend watching them. You can find a lot of sneak peeks of earlier versions as well as different colours and a lot of different wheels they considered.

Thanks for the link, a LOT of interesting stuff to be found there.

What really bugs me in those videos, though, is that they talk of a journey and learning process and blah blah, BUT, they have in their hands always the final model! Sure you can see some prototypes, but only as unsharp glimpses in the background.

It's like those commercials for razors, where they demonstrate the razor by shaving an already hairless armpit... :wall:

It is understandable though, actually in any design process. General people would whine all over the details which were "better" in the prototypes, without knowing the reasons of changes - and of course you don't have the time to explain the whole process one by one for each complaint. It is better to prevent this negative wave by not showing prototypes, and focus on the final product.

One thing what makes me wonder... they say the color of the rims was decided at the very end, might be the reason why are those painted in the Lego version... so once you remove the paint, you will get the pure ABS (probably black or titan) color?

Spoiler

(actually you can see some protos quite sharply, especially in episode 1 on the trolley)

It doesn't matter that it was released earlier in Asia or Europe, because it was only possible to purchase the Sian in Canada after midnight EST. I went on the Lego site a few minutes before that and it still said it's coming on June 1. After it turned midnight, I was able to order it. Now I see the Canadian site also says "Backorder." I don't think Canada ran out of stock because so many people ordered it in Europe that they shipped the Canadian sets back to Europe, haha. (At least I hope not!)

My order status says "In warehouse" so I guess it's coming? I've never ordered from Lego.com before, so I don't know. (I got the Chiron from Amazon.)

It was live before 12, my order was placed around 11:53PM ( I was checking like a madman). I'm also at the "in Warehouse" stage.

Yesterday, I had the page window open on the Lego Shop site with the Sian in the wish list (this was around 11 a.m. Pacific Standard Time, here on the West Coast). I checked again around 4 p.m. and again, there was no order button yet, just the Coming soon message. I was tired of sitting by my computer clicking refresh every hour or so and wanted to go on with my day and relax. I checked back in around 10 p.m. and the set was already backordered. So I think different time zones definitely matter, because while I don't know the exact time it became available, Lego's release wasn't a static date as they advertised; because June 1 was already June 1 in some places, and in others (such as for me, here in Victoria, B.C.) it was still May 31. That tells me that majority of the purchases came from other parts of the world where the set had been live for a longer period of time because of the time differences. While it wasn't impossible to get it in Canada (as you have proven) not many were as lucky to get it, because the window of opportunity wasn't very high.

I've ordered Lego sets online from Lego for years, and this has never happened; for a set to be released not even for 24 hours and for it to already be backordered... it's absurd.

I know I was off by a few minutes, because my order date is May 31, but I was trying to say that just because it was available in Europe five or six hours earlier doesn't mean Canadians could have ordered it then. We had to wait for our own North American release.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to receiving it - hopefully soon and not in July. I'm a bit disappointed about the colour inconsistency, but I think this isn't the first time. I'm pretty sure I noticed that sort of thing before with another set in another colour, I'm just not sure which one.

My order date for the Sian also said May 31st; but it still went from In Warehouse, to Backordered, to Out of Stock, and back to Backordered.  I'm still really disappointed by the fact that the order goes through, and then gets "kicked out" anyways ???   Quite unfair to the customers on this side of the Atlantic I think...

8043 had minor color issues with the yellow and red pieces in the set.

This still really blows my mind; I would think/feel the same thing. I don't understand how that happened; system must've just been overwhelmed with orders in a very short time period. Or just the inventory of sets was well below average and just ran out.

I remember the release of 8043 fairly well. It was again a really anticipated release and when it came out there were several issues; among the colour issues, mechanical design errors that were later corrected by Lego in separate instructions and linear actuators that were problematic and needed replacement.

I placed my order for x2 Sian’s about 10 minutes after it went live here in the US. I just got the shipping notification with tracking number (arriving this Friday, shipped from IL to CA). It’s strange the order doesn’t show up in the system, even after it shipped.

It's people like you that caused this set to get sold out so quickly. Thanks alot for being greedy & screwing people like me out of this set right after it comes out. What are you going to do, scalp one on Bricklink?

Awesome, let’s all just make assumptions and blame others for their own selfishness. This is exactly the type of behavior we need right now in these times.

I bought one for me and my wife and the other goes to her brother as a birthday gift. If wanting to buy something nice for ones own family is greedy, then I guess I’m greedy.
