boat2903 Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I just finished building it. The car looks awesome. I don't know if I messed something up when I was building the gearbox, but it's super tight, even though I tried to keep some gaps between all the rotating parts. My biggest gripe, though, is that Book 1 completely came part and the worst thing about it is that I even took extra care not to open the pages too far and damage the spine. I literally just put my iPhone over the corner of the pages to keep the book from closing, but the spine of the book still broke in 2 places (under its own weight) so the middle of the book completely fell out. Does Lego replace manuals? Quote
Blakbird Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 That's Box 2 done and about 1500 parts so far. I guess that means I am not even halfway. Quote
OnyyX Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 Lego S@H in au has just changed back to available now after being OOS for the whole week. Hopefully mine comes next week sometime. Quote

Does Lego replace manuals? Oh crap;... that’s one of my biggest “pet peeve’s” I have, I hate it when these books fall apart while they smell like ink still. And LEGO is really good at dealing with customer complaints about parts and bricks, but not as good about replacing stickers (had that happen to me when the sticker sheet stuck to the instruction booklet !),... so I’m worried for you that this might be even a harder feat. But I totally agree with you and they should replace it, but these are not plastic bricks, and I’m not sure if they print “replacement” instruction manuals in general, and for these UCS sets in particular ? I mean; there is no section for “Pick-a-manual” on LEGO’s customer site ?... 29 minutes ago, OnyyX said: Lego S@H in au has just changed back to available now after being OOS for the whole week. But the US site is now saying “will ship July 6”,... after being at “will ship in 60 days” in less than a day after release... I guess that is great, almost cutting it in half ?... Does Lego replace manuals? Had the gearbox problem as well! Change the tan double bevel gears to some older ones, which are smaller ever so slightly. Doesn't matter if they are grey, tan or black. Especially with the two differentials where 2 each are used, you will feel a difference. Quote

Does Lego replace manuals? I had a similar problem with another set a while ago, it had an instructions booklet that had some pages misaligned in the printing process so part of the pages were cut off and on the other end there were rough edges of the cutoff-portion of the original sheets. I contacted customer support about this (using the missing piece form) and they sent replacement manual with no problem. So go ahead and contact them and you'll get a new manual to replace your obviously defective one. Quote

Jim Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 You're forgiven. The image doesn't work, but I reckon you received the set, or you will receive it shortly. Enjoy the build! Quote
Polarlicht Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 The QR codes in the booklets don't work here? Anyone else the same? Quote

That wasn't a QR to a videocast though, but to a small video explaining how to join some parts. The Landrover has it as well, but that one did work. Quote
Blakbird Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 That's Box 3 done and about 2100 parts so far. My mouse arm hurts. The body is going to be a lot more work with all the strange angles, and some of the parts don't exist in LDraw yet. Quote

I have no experience messing around inside LDraw part files or creating them from scratch. I'll probably use substitute parts until the new ones are available. Usually Philo comes to my rescue. Quote
scooper22 Posted June 7, 2020 Posted June 7, 2020 Would you have preferred brown seats and interior? Quote
