rm8 Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 cars kill perdestrian! forklift use to lift ammo crates in military bases! forest harvester is the reason of glaobal heating! Batmobile and James Bond with machineguns, wTF? W12 bugatti, HOW much CO2 it produces? How could they??? ...... I am not racist, and that's not a joke, but according to last trends, will we see more black skinned minifigures in LEGO city next year? Please understand me right, I just wanna tell: I can find reason to CACNEL any set becase of any kind of "tolerance" Rip 42113. You was sacrificed for sins Quote

The safest way would have been just to go for the Leonardo AW609 instead of the Bell. true. but blue angles (NAVY), red arrows (RAF), Patrouille de France (Armée de l'Air Française) etc are all military - elite pilots, operated by air forces. Those are the window-cases, PR masterpieces of armies (air forces). I would argue this is armies marketing department and their PR. :-) this is military Quote
Cardboy Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Seems to have been dropped from the Lego site so I think we can say that this will not be coming out anytime soon which is a big shame as it seemed the best set in the 2H for new parts / value. Quote
agrof Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Great news! Finally a wise decision, which was taken right in time to prevent any confusions: the core values of the company are still more important than fast profit. But the most painfull is, that a multi-national, profit oriented company tries to act like they were still a small / mid-size family business. They don't even know what their identity is. BTW, just another hint for TLG managers and marketing department: Star Wars is also known for violence, full packed with weapons. Ah, Ninjago too. Also, Duplo and Friends has wild, predator animals in the portfolio whose fur gets covered with blood time to time in reality. Oh well, don't stop here LEGO, there is so many way left yet to loose face! I did not spend much on LEGO recently, but now I am more convinced in my decision: I will not sponsor such a bunch of idiots, who can't even stand for their decisions and those consequences (proven many times in the last years). I feel sad inside, but luckily there are other great hobbies out there. Edited July 20, 2020 by agrof Quote

It is not that difficult to re-develope this model. Lego have done a great job and it cost tons of budget for nothing in the end. Edited July 20, 2020 by Timorzelorzworz Quote
howitzer Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 While there are good arguments on both sides on if this kind of set should or shouldn't be released, what baffles me most is how they could allow the development, marketing and manufacture to get this far, before the decision of canceling it? I mean, they couldn't have chosen a worse moment for cancellation, if it had happened earlier, there would have been less wasted money and if it had happened later, they could've discontinued the set prematurely, made an apology statement and donated some money into anti-war charity or something and still come out looking like the good guys. But this just seems to be a some sort of panic reaction with no real consideration whether it's good or bad. Quote

rener Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) I thought it might be postponed due to an error in the manual. In the picture you see that the axle going to the propellor housings has a pin joiner between the two axle joiners, while there is also a clutch in the drive train to prevent stalling the motor. I think the pin joiner should be placed between the axle joiners going to the propellors. If the manual is wrong on this, there should be a correction/errata sheet. Don’t know if this is a reason to postpone the set, but the way it’s presented in this video at 10:26 it just doesn’t work right... https://flic.kr/p/2jo66pZ Edited July 20, 2020 by rener Quote

Lipko Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 Box: Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey Just a Generic Rescue Plane You're welcome. Quote
rener Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I don't know. Correcting an error would be a valid reason to delay the release, opposed to giving in to cancel-culture like pressure groups...But let's not make this political... Quote

New box, new instructions, new sticker sheet... not a trivial change to made when all that has been manufactured already, but better than outright cancellation. And we'd still get what we actually want, a good model with interesting parts and functions. Quote
Cardboy Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 So with it only 2 weeks form it's original release Lego must be sitting on a large stockpile and some must have went to stores that's a lot of money even for Lego to have tied up. They can't just dump all that plastic. a recall will be even more expensive even if they can get that info to all stores in a week. I think at best they could drop the licence name and just call it a generic rescue plane as the before with the 42066 they got away with that as it's not a named machine. Quote

paul_delahaye Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 I would expect most of these are already in the retailers hands by now. Getting them back, will be a challenge. It will also make them quite desirable on the aftermarket I would think. I contemplated buying one this morning on ebay from a German retailer, but they appear to have all by disappeared from ebay today. Whether they have been removed or sold remains to be seen. Would make a nice rare collectors model if they do simply rebox/rebrand. Quote
Timorzelorzworz Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 The lead designer (who is not known yet?) of this set spending one year of work has my compassion Quote
TeriXeri Posted July 20, 2020 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) 31039: Blue Power Jet was basicly an F-35 it just never was officially called like that. And LEGO has made other models with appearance similar to other Jets/Attack Helicopters Even the 2019 Sky Police used a helicopter somewhat similar to a Bell AH-1Z Viper, and also some type of Fighter jet. Also there have been numerous helicopters similar to a Boeing CH-47 Chinook in sets, even as recent as 2020 with the Black Widow set. But the main difference must be, they were never officially designated as real-life licensed vehicles unlike this Technic set. Edited July 20, 2020 by TeriXeri Quote

Not so simple I would assume they would still be paying Bell the licence fee as that will have already been negotiated. Renaming the set they will lose any tie up marketing and may have to pay Bell more if part of the licence cost was brand advertising for Bell. Stopping the whole set would be a much bigger financial hit and they will still have all the costs and no sales plus more cost if they have to dispose of the set's they have already made. Quote
Ngoc Nguyen Posted July 20, 2020 Author Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) I think the most realistic way TLG will go is this: - Sets that have arrived at sellers' shops remain with the sellers and should be sold like normal sets - Cancel or whitewash/Bellwash and rebrand the upcoming batch. There doesnt seem to be any sticker with the Bell or Boeing logo anyway. Edited July 20, 2020 by Ngoc Nguyen Quote
