Well, Marketing at Lego spins at 200%. Literally Lego is pouring from the tap too nowadays (I mean all those licensed stuff, official pixel art Lego?? and even a asdasfsda reality show?????)
They've gone a bit too far :laugh_hard:

@Bartybum

This cancel culture, I see it all the time. sometimes its justified, sometimes its not. I was just furious about this cancel culture hitting my favorite line of lego without bringing any meaningful change whatsoever, This is simply engineering, thats it. No weapons or violence associated. I am a very introverted person, never thought I'd ever start a petition. so if they can start a petition to stop its sale, we can start one to get it released, in the end it'll be upto the LEGO Group to do what's best for them. As if licensing fees is used for war, what a joke.

LEGO can do a few things to save children from "weapons, war and violence"(claim by the petition to stop its sale) in the set 42113 Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey by simply making the set 18+ and stating this set is only for adults. another thing would be a color change but that would be a large investment. since this set would have been in production for at least the last 3 months. If Lego had built this set as true to life as it is without licensing they could have been sued by Boeing

Yes, a golden and easy way for chinese copy-brands. A shoot in the Legos foot where they pulled the trigger self.

TLG have a principle not to represent contemporary military hardware

Thing is, this is not an enforceable limit, as it cannot be defined unambiguously, but rather twisted to suit anybody's agenda.

1) What is contemporary? Does it mean "not currently in use"? If it did, we would see a boatload of WW1 and 2 machinery. We don't, due to guidelines. Does it then mean "newer  than x years"? Then, what is X? Has to be newer than 100, ref. WW1, Red Baron etc. If so, see point above regarding WW1 sets. Then, what does contemporary really mean?

2) What is "military equipment"? Stuff used ONLY by military? In which case, big submarines would be off limits. Yet Technic has seen two big ones, disguised as "Research". What about stuff used non-exclusively by military? Then all helicopters are off limits. What about developed by the military? Fighter jets off limits. Developed for the military originally? Saturn V off limits, propeller cargo planes and hydrofoils too. Has military capability? Same result.

If research subs and rescue helicopters were acceptable for TLG previously, a SAR Osprey is no different.

Which boils down to licensing being the only difference.

So who's the idiot/group of idiots that thought that getting this set cancled was a good idea anyway? I'm having a hard time going through all of the posts here.

Here's a link:

The LEGO Technic Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey was designed to highlight the important role the aircraft plays in search and rescue efforts. While the set clearly depicts how a rescue version of the plane might look, the aircraft is only used by the military. We have a long-standing policy not to create sets which feature real military vehicles, so it has been decided not to proceed with the launch of this product.

We appreciate that some fans who were looking forward to this set may be disappointed, but we believe it’s important to ensure that we uphold our brand values.

This story is perfect symptom, how ill our society is, there is so much wrong with this story, but everything is about exaggeration and hypocrisy, way beyond common sense.

As said before: it is a toy. Yes it is, and this works both ways.

DFG-VK

I am a pacifist, first of all, BUT I don't see the point of bullying a toy company by DFG-VK (NGO), what and how will this help their objectives? How will this influence the biggest power governments who spend hundreds of billions on army? Why do they think, that this specific modell (without any weapon, and marketed as rescue vehicle) will develop agression? Why anybody thinks, that fantasy based agression can not have the same impact on receptive personality, as real one which also can be accessed on the same mediums (internet, games, especially: news)? I do believe, for ANY child watching 5 minutes of news is more traumatizing, than building 20 times this 42113 (it is maximum boring).

I do believe they took the wrong tartget, and honestly (bitterly), I can not consider them any serious from this point. :sceptic: Don't get me wrong, I do believe war is useless and redundant, but I am also sure, that this move just makes the real war business people laugh and make the whole organisation just less meaningfull/serious in their eyes. One step forward, three steps backward...

LEGO

Suddenly they took off the money filter from the glasses and grew conscience? Very hard to believe... but they try to appear so. Marketing megablocks. They are known about their extensive market mapping and cautious product implementation. Sure, they just realized, what they did... but in case, this is actually what happened, how comes, that the whole management who approved this set to go this far, is not resigning from their positions? They are clearly not worthy to the core values of the company, it is proven and admitted by this case. Is the LEGO brand and company brave enough to stand their own values, or are they ok with a simple apology, but let everything go further, as these people make nice profit. Dear TLG: where is the line, how much is the price of your faith in toys? Leg godt! - my brick...

I don't say any of these has right, it is not black and white either. Also have no personal judgment conclusion, I just feel, that this whole story is a moral swamp, and the deeper you dig, the more rotten. And I don't want to have this nearby my naive and idealist soul.  and  for ruining my "playing experience".

EDIT: I know how I feel now. And I am very deeply disappointed in TLG, unfortunately not the first time in a short period. Speaking of values, where is the ONLY THE BEST IS GOOD ENOUGH? Anyone who worked ever for a multinational company, knows, that all the "values" are empty phrases, only thing what matters in the end of the day for the management, is the profit. And they will come up with every kind of lie if they feel it being endangered. I love/loved the characteristic of LEGO System, the challenges of Technic, but this whole attitude, which interwovens the whole spirit, is disgusting, disillusive and ruins the hobby to me.

The set has been discussed since the Nürnberg Toy Fair in February. It is extremely unlikely (no way) that the actions of the DFG-VK in recent days are solely responsible for this. Especially when you look at how quickly Lego reacted.

The original "set is cancled text" is on the page i postet.

I keep seeing NGO. Is this the group that got the set canceled?

In the end, we all (LEGO and FOLs) want this set on the shelves.
Maybe it would be an idea to look at how to "unboingify" the set based on the provided parts list and instruction from @Ngoc Nguyen

If we find a solution that doesn't look like an Osprey, LEGO could drop the name and repackage the existing parts with new instructions.

PLEASE SAY NOT YET :ugh:

Not yet would be incorrect. Even the shop i have ordered has skipped the pre-order sign on the 42113. But the set is still visible.
