suruq Posted January 30, 2020 Posted January 30, 2020 (edited) Hello, I'm building a UCS scale Impellor Fleet carrier which is one of my favorite capital ships in the Star Wars universe. I want it to be stud-less and the final size will be 120x75cm. Currently, I've only done the inner structure an there are already 2329 pieces, mostly technic with an astonishing number of 544x 2l pin. My main goal is to build a big hangar (20x20cm) that will hold Tie fighters and a Lambda or a Zeta shuttle. I don't plan to do other interiors yet I hope you will enjoy and I'll keep you updated as much as possible. suruq Posted January 31, 2020 Author Posted January 31, 2020 (edited) Small update: I'm currently working on the hangar structure but I have an issue with the wings. Since I'm using stud.io my placement on cross axles isn't perfect. Spoiler it results in an offsetting of the plates on the wings. Spoiler To fix that issue I have 2 choices: fix the offsetting part by part (huge time loss) or buy the parts and start the build. I'm not a big fan of the second option because of the financial aspect and also because I like to work on stud.io before the real build. I don't know what to do yet :( Edited January 31, 2020 by suruq Quote
m4st3rt3ch Posted January 31, 2020 Posted January 31, 2020 Whatever you do, this looks promising. I can't remember any other MOC using this style of frame. Looking forward to it! Quote
LiLmeFromDaFuture Posted February 1, 2020 Posted February 1, 2020 Have you tried using the connect feature? Quote

You're right in the case someone has thousands of pieces at his disposition but for a student like me, modeling is the only way to do LEGO mocs without spending money 9 hours ago, LiLmeFromDaFuture said: Have you tried using the connect feature? no, but I'll try. Perhaps it can save some time. Quote

I don't know what to do yet :( I think building it IRL is not only the right choice but also a necessity in case you want your model to be not just a virtual design concept with no real ambition of being a constructible model. Not only will the building in real bricks solve your alignment issues but (and more importantly) it will prevent you from ending up with a design which is totally infeasible due to lack of structural strength :) Quote

I'll update you when I start the build. Quote
suruq Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 hello, I decided to fix the issue (4 boring hours) and here is an update : the red parts on the wings are emplacements for canons. I'm currently covering this with tile and the next step will be the wings bottom which is harder because of some hangar exit. the build is 100x75cm and contain 3263 pieces Quote
suruq Posted February 5, 2020 Author Posted February 5, 2020 another update: I finished the top tiles what do you think of the cannons? (note: the little offset on the tiles is due to some bad angles and will not be there in the real build) part count: 4350 Quote
Ellisss_2 Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Very quick progress the ship is looking great, I'm interested to see where this goes! Quote
TwoSolitudes Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 giving this a bump- just cus' it looks really interesting. This and the Venator project from @thire5 are looking super promising. Quote
jkk643 Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 The wing assembly is looking pretty good so far, and I wish you luck on the task that is implementing the sheer amount of hangars this beast facilitates Quote
