Posted May 9, 200816 yr Anyone else have this set? Great set; with all the vehicles and figures. But there's something lacking here isn't there? Oh yes...It's detail. The hailfire droid is atrociously inacurate. Does this upset anyone else? A few images from the set: Though I love the dwarf spider droid, the Hailfire droid upsets me, particurally because of the size of those wheels. Sure it's an ingenious system, but they're so small! Anyone else have some thoughts on this set?
May 9, 200816 yr Yes I have this set I agree with you I would be willing to pay £5-£10 more for a more detailed Hailfire!
May 9, 200816 yr I'm disappointed with the price. Only SW sets I've bought in a long time are Battle Packs, simply because they're too damn expensive next to Castle and City sets. But I should stop beating a dead horse... from the pics, IMO, the hailfire looks pretty decent. I would buy it, but, as mentioned before... price... TK
May 9, 200816 yr it does look a little dinky next to the old Technic Hailfire, which is still proudly displayed on my shelf. But after building it and messing around with it for a while I decided I like the little thing. I just think of it as a smaller infantry support or urban defense variant. The confederacy had several sizes of other droid weapons, like the Octuptarra Droid and the LM-432 Crab Droid. So it's all good to me
May 9, 200816 yr i like it but that is only because i have not the one before this one. i think you are right. if lego made it not so cheap and fast making money and give the costumers a small set for a to big price. i would like it.
May 9, 200816 yr Yes and no. I thought the Hailfire wasn't too terribly good the first time I saw it. The dimensions are off, the coloration looks a little blah the details aren't quite right. But the more I look at it, the more I think it's not as bad as my original gut check. The rest of the set is great, so I can't complain too much. If only I had bought the Technic version when I had the chance. Damn me for taking three years off of my collecting. (I bought only 5 sets in 2002-2005 combined. )
May 9, 200816 yr i like this set just fine, to be honest... and i think people are giving the TLG a hard time with this, its a great set, but if your not satisfied, well, mod it! isnt that the idea (mostly) about legos? to use your imagination? not trying to be rude here, just making a point...
May 9, 200816 yr Saying that the hailfire droid is too small, and that the UCS hailfire droid is more too scale, is like saying that the minifig Vader is slightly too small compared to other figs, so the UCS Vader is more accurate.
May 9, 200816 yr I haven't been disappointed in a set since the original B-Wing. Maybe I'm just easily pleased.

You managed to get me totally I don't get your post sorry - could you explain it to me please Best regards, Benny
May 9, 200816 yr I really like the new Halfire droid I know it looks small compared to the minifigs and even smaller compared to the Technic version but it have a pretty smart design and I like the color . To be honest I like more this one than the Technic version .
May 10, 200816 yr Author Darth Legois the entire set is amazing it's a great buy; the hailfire droid is pwn with those missiles and the wheels. I'm just thinking that it would be better if the wheels were bigger and there was a little gun under it. The main complaint I have is about the wheel size.
May 10, 200816 yr I like the set, too, actually. I am totally satisfied with the hailfire - I mean how much detail is there to put on a small vehicle like this? Also, the only things that I think are missing are a few greebs on the sides and the little blaster below the cockpit/head... and those are easy little mods which should be fun and inexpensive to do. Being a huge fan of animation, I for one like to think of the clone wars and anything associated with it (vehicles, locations, etc.) as what we see in the cartoons, and since there are not many details to see there, I am even more satisfied with this hailfire droid. May 10, 200816 yr I'm sorta disapointed but, it's good with chases and stuff like that.... I'm mad about the size a little bigger TLC!!! I wish it was like a inch bigger.
May 10, 200816 yr I also am pleased with this set, which is essentially a bp, albeit slightly more than that would entail. As to the overall size of the Hailfire droid, I actual think Lego got it right this time. At first I did not hold this view, but after going back and reviewing the Attack of the Clone battle scenes, it is par on! As to detail, it's size does limit this, but again, I think Lego hit the key distinctive points, other than the gun, which could be a rather simple tweak. I hope I am not implying I disagree with the context of this thread, however, I find this solely to be my opinion. A good one of the set at that!
May 10, 200816 yr You managed to get me totally I don't get your post sorry - could you explain it to me please Best regards, Benny Right, imagine you’re playing with your figs. You got some stormtrooper minifigs and a Vader minifig. But isn’t Vader supposed to be taller than them? Not to worry, we have the UCS Vader to step in and replace the minifig scale Vader! Is this more accurate size wise compared to the minifig stormies? Did that help?
May 10, 200816 yr Actually I love this set. I think it's my favourite from this wave... I heard about its being off scale since we saw the first preview pics, but ever since, I've never found any pictures that actually give it's proper size. And in the film, we never see it near a clone to have a sense of scale, which always had me beleive that the first version was waaay too big... Beside, in the clone wars video game, it's slightly smaller than the AAT, which the new version is compared to the lego AAT... So I'd say it's pretty spot on. And I am rather impressed by the amount of detail they managed to cram in a set that small. So basically, no. I'm not disappointed at all. I think it's a great set.

Ah, ok I get your point now Thanks mate And if I look at your Vader/Vader size comparison I don't think the size of the Hailfire -right or slightly wrong - is a big deal
May 14, 200816 yr Actually, I don't think the new Hailfire is so off scale. Here's a link to a photo with Hailfire and a geonosian B1 battle droid from AOTC: http://www.theforce.net/swtc/Pix/dvd/aotc/bog42s465.jpg Maybe the wheels should be a little bigger. After all, it's a great set.
