We happen to had a chance to build it for our local certified LEGO Store and the set is approx. as big as Mini Cooper. Also LEGO chose a perfect color for this one. 

That’s what I’m doing right now. Done with bag 2/3 and will be taking it back to the store tomorrow evening. I’ll be posting about it on my Instagram channel @zaidsgarage

Saw the reveal,  couple of articles on Stonewars and Promobricks, and finally found the CAD price on Brickset.

130CAD... That's a bit of a worst case scenario... But I guess when you're ready to spend 120CAD on the set, another ten bucks isn't that big a deal... Is it...?

Will probably still get it on March 1st, since the car has grown on me and I love the colour TLG chose. I'd like to see a top-down view, though, to have a clear look at that change in width along the car.

Did they forgot the sidemirror? I think the 500 had at least one on the drivers side...

But i love the color, not too often to see light yellow!

There's no side mirror on the model, and all photography of the older models in the instruction booklet doesn't have side mirrors on any of the cars...so it seems pretty accurate.

Ordered mine, i passed for the extra 15 bucks to get the train though.

I can't believe people actually like this set to be honest. I think it looks terrible and nothing like a Fiat 500. I asked my wife if she knew what car it was and she thought it might be some old 4x4? This feels similar to the DB5 debacle, really. Like a MOC build by an amateur who couldn't get it right and eventually just gave up. As a car it looks nice, but as a Fiat 500 it looks awful. I remember one that was posted here that just looks so so much better and it's as if LEGO thought they could do better but eventually realized they couldn't yet decided to release this anyway. I've no idea how several LEGO cars (The DB5, the huge Technic Porsche) pass the final verdict when the final result is as poor as this one.

Just bought the Fiat and the Mustang. Might have to modify the Fiat's windscreen to look like the one on the MOC! I always thought TLG's Fiat's windscreen was too big.

This is the first set I've bought in day 1 since...Saturn V. I suppose the train GWP forced my hand. Looking forward to the build.

I have a tendency to give Lego a lot of space, slack some might say, when creating their interpretation of a specific automobile.  While my opinion of the DB5 isn’t very high, I think the large VW Beetle of several years back was outstanding,  The Fiat is a fair representation of the real thing, even though I think the front 1/3 of the car could be better.  I’m a lot tougher critic in other areas where they have full creative possibilities and we wind up with rather lame sets like the last three modular buildings. The Fiat is okay. The color is outstanding.

i think the db5 and the fiat 500 may be slightly off i think the mustang and the VW were amazing, i think small curvy cars like the fiat 500 are harder to do especially when keeping the cost down the the build techniques simple 

The DB5, as packed with fun stuff as it was, was the worst designed of the cars. The Mustang is so far the best in terms of adherence to reality, followed by the Mini Cooper and the Beetle. I'm not sure where to place the VW or the Caterham. They were both beautiful designs but I feel they missed something with the curves of the front of the camper that could have made so much prettier. I still have the F40 in its box. I never assembled it. 

The Fiat is like the Mustang, Beetle, and Camper...it actually revolves around a theme. With the Mustang it was the thrill of the race, the Camper with hippie culture, the Beetle with surfers. The Fiat is just what the instruction booklet says, it's themed around La Dolce Vita attitude of the 50s and 60s, and that's captured in both the choice of car and the choice of color for it. When they added the art materials with it, it became a symbol of the roaming artist making a living by traveling the world. Like the others, it gave it a dimension that related to certain people's backgrounds or past interests, but with the Fiat it actually linked it to a person, which may resonate with more people. This way, it becomes more than just about the build, which is where I sincerely believe LEGO succeeded. 

There are only so many ways you can manipulate bricks to recreate a curvy car, so the design, while not accurate, is as close as it can come. 

For those of you who've lived on either side of the pond I'm sure you understand the choice of themes that LEGO is trying to capture. It's why I'm praying they come up with a Citroen 2CV that's close to some of the ones that were rejected on Ideas. That, again, is an iconic car that changed the concept of mobility for many people and became a cultural symbol. If you go with that fourth dimension of linking the design and build to a persona, think of it on a farm in the French countryside, and imagine if they put in a little inside joke in honor of the original design brief and added a build of a basket of eggs.

I don't know about you, but have a feeling it's gonna be coming somewhere down the line. Thematics seem to be getting more important with LEGO's latest builds, and since they're playing on the nostalgia factor, I think we should expect them to come along with the designs from now on.

Just finished building the set. Pretty fun build and interesting techniques used to fill in the gaps around the diagonal front and back sections.

It is, though, a bit more plain-looking than the other cars, but it's still a very pretty set. I find it looks best next to the Beetle.

I never say this about any set, but I kind of wish it were a little bit smaller... Is it to scale with the other cars, more or less? Or should it be tinier?

Photo provided by Lego, and posted in included quote by parsom, does show a sideview mirror on the actual car.  I don't know why the set designer decided to omit that detail....

In Italy, side-view mirrors became mandatory as late as 1977, if I understand the Italian Wikipedia correctly. So the mirrorless version should be alright for the time of the Fiat's production.
