Posted March 6, 20204 yr Recently, writer and author Greg Farshtey said that, if the community wants it, he would be willing to allow Bionicle G1 Canonization Contests to return. During Bioncile G1's run, a lot of such contests were being hosted, and if the community wants so, they could be returning soon. Here is a link to the TTV Message Boards, where you can vote: http://board.ttvchannel.com/t/poll-bionicle-g1-canonization-contests/51213?u=eljay What are your thoughts? Would like to see those canonization contests return?
March 14, 20204 yr Actually, I would like the return of these MOC/art contests specifically. Not only did it enrich the BIONICLE world and gave a face (mask?) to the characters we liked, but it also proved the constraction system could be as flexible as the regular LEGO system with the right creative mind. Wouldn't LEGO need to approve as well though?
March 15, 20204 yr Author 9 hours ago, The Outsider said: Wouldn't LEGO need to approve as well though? It doesn't seem like so. From my understanding, Greg Farshtey is the only person currently working for LEGO that still cares about Bionicle, and as long as we have his approval (which we have) we can host this contests without any problem. After all, those contests are just about giving a canon appearance to characters that never got one, and nothing is added or changed about the Bionicle Lore. If you are interested in discussing this topic further, I'd recommend doing so on the TTV Message Boards, because there are a lot more active Bionicle fans there than there are here: https://board.ttvchannel.com/t/poll-bionicle-g1-canonization-contests/51213
June 27, 20204 yr Well, to be honest I didn't like the idea of those contests, mainly because I felt it was better to leave Bionicle alone. But we're seeing some interesting entries that I feel fit well in the G1 universe and that I wouldn't mind seeing getting canonized, like entries n°9 in the poll 9, n°1 in the poll 10, and n°1 and 2 in the poll 11. I don't think we'll get as good entries for Artakha, I don't see how he can be accurately represented in Lego form.
June 29, 20204 yr I don't know... Maybe I'm in a minority, but I'd rather these contests not happen. Part of what I enjoyed about the characters without canon appearances was all the creative designs people came up with. So I guess that side of the contests is fine. But then selecting a winner and saying "this is official, nuts to the rest" is kinda... I don't know. I get more enjoyment from seeing the cool mocs than I do having a definitive canon design.
