Posted March 11, 20204 yr I recently picked up the 60197 passenger train but I've never been a fan of the big, moulded cockpits so decided to have a go at a reimagining of the loco. It's a bit of a mix of various different designs, definitely a splash of British Rail Intercity 125 in there ;) It's on a 28 stud train base rather than the 24 stud one and I've still got a few little tweaks to make, but overall pretty happy how its turned out. Most importantly it can get round my layout! Cheers!
March 11, 20204 yr I like the look of this. Very definitely early 80s BR. I always assumed we got moulded fronts for passenger trains to keep the part count and weight down. I guess this version weighs a fair bit more than the original.
March 11, 20204 yr Looks great, reminds me of the SH "125" from Transport Tycoon/OpenTTD, which was based on the real-life Intercity 125. And in that game it was just as simple as this but I still recognized the style even before I read the post, the yellow/blue certainly helped. Edited March 11, 20204 yr by TeriXeri

Best mod I have ever seen of a Lego City set. Thank you very much! 3 hours ago, TeriXeri said: Looks great, reminds me of the SH "125" from Transport Tycoon/OpenTTD, which was based on the real-life Intercity 125. Thanks dude, the blue and yellow gives it away doesn't it! :)
March 13, 20204 yr I love it! I 'wasted' (well, it was fun) loads of time in LDD trying to graft something like the Horizon Express nose onto 60197 but it always looked odd. Your result is way better, might try something similar myself.

March 14, 20204 yr Very nice! Makes me want to get this set. Costco has it online discounted in Canada. Put me down as interested for instructions on how to do this... Edited March 14, 20204 yr by NewTown
March 16, 20204 yr Electropie, I like this moc. Very creative and a much better front end then the original build. Are you planning a second modified engine for the rear of this train?

Not sure if it'll be powered or just a dummy unit, but there will be a second one. Once I get round to it... :)

I absolutely hate the one piece front on 60197 and would love to recreate your design.
February 14, 20223 yr This is a nice modification, makes a good design out of what's available. @WhiteSmok I don't think your request is appropriate nor going to be seen. Please review the forum rules and etiquette before bringing up an old post. The creator hasn't been seen in over a year as well. Additionally, judging by the design, this is a fairly straight forward redesign. Best of luck with your trains.
February 14, 20223 yr Author Hey! Thanks both. I've not been on here for ages, you are right :) I meant to make instructions for this mod ages ago but never got round to it and probably won't now to be honest. There is some trickiness with part of the front being built upside down. There are more photos on my instagram (I think, again not been on in ages) which should give you a better idea. Cheers!

Welcome back @electropie If you're still building gorgeous train layouts, head over to the trains forum and show us what you've built lately.
April 11, 20222 yr Author Hey @Feuer Zug and @WhiteSmok and anyone else who's interested! I finally (after two years) got round to making instructions for this. It's got lights in it too now! They're free on my website or rebrickable for the parts list etc: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-107864/nwbricks/60197-loco-redesign/ (+ 88005 and 88011 lights/PU motor which stud.io doesn't recognise) Let me know if you build one. Cheers! Edited April 11, 20222 yr by electropie added link
