shimon Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 A compact train door mechanism solution for 7-8 wide trains, it is still a work in progress. Wondering what is the most convenient way to activate it, share your thoughts! Quote
neonic Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Very nice That it fits in such small 'scale', cool. Quote
Carefree_Dude Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 You could possibly activate it with a red micro motor Quote
deraven Posted March 15, 2020 Posted March 15, 2020 Very nice indeed. And not too much (literal) overhead to contend with, so has some actual practical uses in reasonably-scaled builds! Quote
shimon Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Thanks everyone! About the activation mechanism, it is really a dilemma for me because using motors will require solid connection between wagons, same with pneumatics, so Im thinking the best way would be via a knob or a lever on top of the wagon. Nashnet Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 How to huddle it up by motor? Your another video is already a perfect solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5P8pfBZeiw Quote

Your another video is already a perfect solution https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5P8pfBZeiw Have a motor in your locomotive and make a drivetrain through every wagon with u-joints, there is a youtube video of something similar. About the second one, I got very disappointed with 8 studs wide trains, even though it seems a perfect fit for the rail width but each wagon is very big and long, rendering the curved tracks useless Quote
Stoffer70 Posted March 23, 2020 Posted March 23, 2020 Esben Kolind has made 2 differrent clever dor solutions. https://youtu.be/z5uKFGeTtNg https://youtu.be/ocMY8vsZux8 https://youtu.be/2s4yFDAOhHA Quote

Im not a train builder so I don't know if you guys pay attention to such details.. Quote
UrbanErwin Posted April 24, 2020 Posted April 24, 2020 (edited) There's some great engineering in this thread. I rebuild Nashnet's idea, but wasn't really fond of the gap for the sliders. After some fiddling around with parts I came up with a design which suited my design requirements more.Moving stuff by Ervvin, on Flickr, Picture links to a video The design revolves around this piece: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=41740#T=C I'll make some proper pics of the inner workings etc. when I finish the train itself. I have something similar but very not as reliable as yours looks. Mine is motorized but doesn't close very well. Quote

UrbanErwin Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Opening Doors by Ervvin, on Flickr I've made a digital file with the inner workings of the part, which can be found here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1rE1cX_h-7Xxdv-Uh9bxTzERX8r47fSHJ Quote
