After long pause, I sat down today to play around with LDD. Oddly the inspiration came from here - see below.

Spoiler

Xingbao 07007 - on the right. Unfortunately I can not find any instructions for them, but based on reviews, it is not a very rigid construction.

This will be a concept UTV for King Of Hammers, first design is ready, I need to build IRL and test. Considering the Corona situation, it might remain digital for a while though, as I might not have all the necessary parts on stock. 323 pcs so far.

Nothing special in terms of functions: suspension, HOG steering, differential with fake engine (easy pop-on/off), fake automatic transmission. The latter is just sume pulley wheels and gears rotating along with the cranckshaft, round and bulky, just like a real hydraulic one.

In real model, I will fit the tireĀ on the inner wedges of the rim, thus it will get a bit higher (~58 mm) but narrower (~22 mm) profile.

Updated picture. Seemingly people avoid to comment here, so this new name suits well in these challenging times.

Thanks, would be a honor!

I willĀ share the LDD file later, it is not structured well yet, also some solutions must be tested before release.

I justĀ noted, it started to proliferate!

Very nice and cute! Feels like a modern evolution of my first set ever (8845).

Ā

Such a great set. I still have that one in my classic collection

Thanks guys for the feedback, indeed 8845 is a great little set, there is something very lovely about it.

Checking Bricklink, the parts for the lime one are available only abroad, so I need to deal with patchworking for now.

Some details improved, some parts changed for more common ones - I think all changes are benefitial. The best part is, that the clutch is no more a dummy, it has actual function to bridge the 1/2 stud axle offset for the engine cranks, and to provide the rotation.Ā :classic:

I updated the LXF file too (attentionĀ  not tested yet IRL, so updates might come), in more accessible red color, can be find HERE.Ā EDIT: obsolete, removed link.

It has groups, in backwards building sequence, 380 pcs.

Personally, I stick to the lime version, with some viral parts, migrated from CADA set - like black shock absorbers, etc.

Then in both cases red shock absrobers would fit better.

I like the contrast, of course anybody can change according personal taste and spring force preference. Also using third party partsĀ fits into the concept "Virus".Ā

EDIT: as inspiration, get Funky!

1280x606.jpg

Also an affordable and viable color variant.

Removed link to LXF

I'd hazarda guessĀ that the next couple of months are going to be productive fromĀ  MOCing perspective.Ā  This seems like an ideal candidate to try to stuff buggy motors into.

Sitting home, playing around with renders - I made a cover picture in the first post, hope You like it.

I have built it, made the necessary changes. The rear suspension is still a tad hard, but acceptable, also proper placement of the clutch is very important, so the pins don't get stuck on the bracket parts.

It is on REBRICKABLE, also the final LDD file is available (in RED).

I just got the subconscious message, UTV refers here: Undo The Virus...

changed photos

I had similar idea to make something like that after this year's Dakkar rally, but all of them have all wheel driveĀ

Your version is very cuteĀ

@I_IgorĀ Thanks! One thing I learnt in the last years: if You can not copy exactly the real thing, or You just skip some features / parts... call it a "Concept", and You are covered.Ā :grin:Ā So, just let's start!

That is very original idea for conceptĀ

Kind regards

UPDATE - I made some minor tweaks in the design, alsoĀ took some nicer photos (see above). The model is available in Stud.io too:Ā CLICK HERE to download.

Both the LDD file and Rebrickable are refreshed.

LDD file removed

Nice one @Agrof - lookĀ forward to building it once our Covid-18 lockdown ends an d I can Bricklink a few extra parts/ Very good PDF too for my ageing eyes!

@Ric079Ā I am glad You like it, there is some minor alignment issues in the front suspension (You can see it in the instructions too), I gave up on nerves after a while. But, most importantly, it is buildable, and works.Ā :classic:

Also Stud.io generates a bit weird Bill of material, with strange numbers - Rebrickable can help here.

Update: the harder rear suspension bugged me, but there was too much sideways slack with theĀ softerĀ setup. Finally I found an easy way to keep the twist of the rear axle within acceptable limits.

Here is a small patch, which provides much more satisfying suspensionĀ experience, of course to be done on both sides. Also it utilises the spring travel perfectly.Ā

Thanks @Agrof - the suspension patch is brilliantĀ and the end to an enjoyable build now all the parts have finally arrived. Have also completed the Hot Roadster which was a big nit with the grandchildren!!
