CSW652 Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I have seen several very nice Lego Store mocs on here and am planning on building one myself someday, but I have to ask are there any real life Lego stores that aren't inside a mall? I have never seen one and tried to search for one on the internet, but just got pictures of stores inside malls. Quote
The Island Chronicles Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I've only seen Lego stores in malls. Then again, I have never been to a Lego store out of the area in which I live so I can't speak for all. As for your planned MOC, it doesn't necessarily have to be in a mall. You can make it as a standalone store or as part of a street. Quote

I think the Disneyworld one in Orlando does too. You might also want to look for pictures of LEGO Stores in other countries. Quote
neonic Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 In Gouda, the place I live, there is big Lego store. It's in a shoppingstreet. There you'll find more nice stores and restaurants. Quote

jus1973 Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 There is one in New York, as part of the Rockefeller centre. It’s not in a mall, and has two entrances, one on a street, and another into a pedestrian zone. Architecturally might be nice to look at in terms of basing a MOC on, if you can find pictures. Quote
JopieK Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Amsterdam official LEGO store is also in a normal street, so are the ones in Essen, Cologne, Hamburg. Quote

This one... I assume only the corner of that building is a Lego store. Quote

The image you have is the pedestrian area, with a sunken cafe area on the left in your image. The shop stretches to the road behind, which you can just see where the flag poles end on the left. There’s a street entrance there too. if i recall correctly this entrance Is about half a storey higher than the doors you can see in your picture. The architecture lower down is not that interesting but if you look at the building as a whole its amazing Art Deco (I think). Quote
Berthil Posted March 17, 2020 Posted March 17, 2020 Most famous flag ship store at Leicester Square in Londen and here my LEGO Ideas entry of it. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/e015f9c8-3faf-4308-b8ed-b5e09c6ebcef Quote

Very nice building though, I would buy that if it were added to the modular line. Supported. Quote

CSW652 Posted March 22, 2020 Author Posted March 22, 2020 Thanks for the links so far. I have to drive several hours to find a Lego store from my house and those are all in malls. Interesting to see stand alone stores as I wasn't having much luck finding exteriors online, lots of interior pictures though. Anymore even malls are starting to get hard to find around here. Quote
neonic Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 Last saterday, unfortanly it was closed (logically) the Whole street looked a bit extinct. At least it was good weather. and ... in better days and a picture, taken during the midsummerfair, last year, with a model of the cityhall of Gouda (sorry if the photo's are too big, I tried smaller but than I get a black square) Quote
TeriXeri Posted March 22, 2020 Posted March 22, 2020 (edited) That Gouda store isn't an "official LEGO Brand store", but it does look nice, great models as well Edited March 22, 2020 by TeriXeri Quote

CSW652 Posted March 24, 2020 Author Posted March 24, 2020 (edited) From what I have seen so far, the architecture varies from store to store unlike most chain stores here in the USA, so they could almost look like any kind of building. Are these stand alone stores usually 1 floor or do some have multiple floors? Having only been to one small Lego store in a mall, I can't imagine all the stuff a multiple floor Lego store would have.
