I have seen several very nice Lego Store mocs on here and am planning on building one myself someday, but I have to ask are there any real life Lego stores that aren't inside a mall?

I have never seen one and tried to search for one on the internet, but just got pictures of stores inside malls.

I've only seen Lego stores in malls. Then again, I have never been to a Lego store out of the area in which I live so I can't speak for all. As for your planned MOC, it doesn't necessarily have to be in a mall. You can make it as a standalone store or as part of a street.

I know Downtown Disney in Anaheim has a free standing one. I think the Disneyworld one in Orlando does too. You might also want to look for pictures of LEGO Stores in other countries.

In Gouda, the place I live, there is big Lego store. It's in a shoppingstreet. There you'll find more nice stores and restaurants.

There is one in New York, as part of the Rockefeller centre.  It’s not in a mall, and has two entrances, one on a street, and another into a pedestrian zone.  Architecturally might be nice to look at in terms of basing a MOC on, if you can find pictures.

I assume only the corner of that building is a Lego store.

Yes that’s the one.  It’s actually on three sides.  The image you have is the pedestrian area, with a sunken cafe area on the left in your image.  The shop stretches to the road behind, which you can just see where the flag poles end on the left.  There’s a street entrance there too.  if i recall correctly this entrance Is about half a storey higher than the doors you can see in your picture.  The architecture lower down is not that interesting but if you look at the building as a whole its amazing Art Deco (I think).

Do you have pictures of the actual store?  Very nice building though, I would buy that if it were added to the modular line.  Supported.

You can literally google it and also use maps/streetview.

Thanks for the links so far.  I have to drive several hours to find a Lego store from my house and those are all in malls.  Interesting to see stand alone stores as I wasn't having much luck finding exteriors online, lots of interior pictures though.  Anymore even malls are starting to get hard to find around here.

Last saterday, unfortanly it was closed (logically) the Whole street looked a bit extinct. At least it was good weather.

That Gouda store isn't an "official LEGO Brand store", but it does look nice, great models as well

That is not in a mall, it is just in a shopping street. Centro Oberhausen is what I consider a mall.

???

I never said that this store is in a mall. You mentioned the Cologne store as being in a normal street and I just added the link to google maps.

;) Thanks! Great addition.

From what I have seen so far, the architecture varies from store to store unlike most chain stores here in the USA, so they could almost look like any kind of building.

Are these stand alone stores usually 1 floor or do some have multiple floors?

Having only been to one small Lego store in a mall, I can't imagine all the stuff a multiple floor Lego store would have.
