Electricsteam Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Hey I would like to know if any of you guys had some basic info on Lego Monorails like. 1.What they are powered off of. 2.How they are coupled. 3.How many monorail curves makes a circle. I'd like to mention I will be trying to make a monorail if I understand how to use Bricklink! Quote

I really think people should read the last comment date on the topic before you post! Its unavoidable. People just refuse to listen to rules. Or common sense. Quote
kieran Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I have some sympathy with this, the other common rule that gets broken is search before porting, so if there is an old post should a new OP always create a new topic, I fear if they do others will simply point out it been covered and they should search, if they add there 2 pence worth to an old post they are wrong for bunging a post. I think the main thing is the relevance or reason for the comment, simply adding i like it to a 3 year sold pots is not that clever, but asking if an answer was ever found to an old question could be a good way to get a meaningful discussion going? Spitfire2865 Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 True, but how does one decide when to bump or create a new topic? Quote
peterab Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 True, but how does one decide when to bump or create a new topic? A good rule of thumb is don't do either unless you are adding new information that will be of interest to others. If it adds to the old topic it belongs there, if it is unrelated it doesn't. When you are adding to an old topic, you should think twice, if it's just a 'me too' comment like 'I really like that' which doesn't advance the topic, don't post. Anything you do post should be important enough to be considered more important than the newer topic you will push from the first page. As a guide it should probably be worth the same as starting a new topic, but because it's closely related to the old one it's better there. When I discover a new LEGO train forum, I'd rather find one with informative posts, each with a consistent topic, or about related Mocs, and including as much of the information on a topic as is available. Fugazi Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 True, but how does one decide when to bump or create a new topic? More guidance on bumping topics can be found here. This is linked to in the Eurobricks FAQ, where most of these forum-related questions have been answered for your convenience. Quote

kieran Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Thanks for reposting the links Fugazi, will help me and many others who stumble across this i am sure. Quote

naw Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I am new to the forum and need some help! I have a 7897 train which suddenly won't run for more than 5 seconds... even with brand-new batteries. Any idea what might cause such a problem? Thanks, Nic Quote
DanSto Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Well, it is hard to give you an answer : first try to run the motor without weight charge (remove the loco from the rails and make the motor run). I am not really experienced into the 9V RC motors but usually, for 9V motors, the problem comes from overheating due to a damaged motor. Without weight charge (no load) the motor become less rapidly overheated and should run more than 5 seconds and, if you run it at low speed, it should run a long time. If it stops when you increase the speed without weigth charge, then I think it is definitively damaged and you will need to change it. Quote

Joonas08Joonas Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Does anyone know what the train sets at the cross-over in the introduction of LEGO LOCO are? (the yellow coal train and red train) Quote
zephyr1934 Posted April 13, 2013 Posted April 13, 2013 The yellow one is probably this one and the red one is probably this one Quote
Fugazi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 The MOC index has been updated to include all your latest. As usual please let me know if I have missed anything. Do take note however that: - MOCs posted before 2012 aren't currently indexed with thumbnails, and there's no plan to go through all of them and create thumbnails. However if there are specific older MOCs that you would like added to the index I can do so on an individual basis if you provide me with a thumbnail (must be precisely 160x120) and a link to the original topic, either in this thread or PM. - WIP threads aren't indexed. If your WIP project gets completed and you post final pictures please give me a shout so that I don't forget to add your MOC to the index (and edit your topic title if need be). - Please provide at least one embedded (deeplinked) picture in your thread, links are boring. If you are linking to your pictures because they're oversized, thanks for following forum rules! However it would make your topic much more appealing if you took the time to resize at least one picture and embed it in your post. It will also make it less likely that I miss your MOC in regards to the indexing. There are tutorials available for resizing and deeplinking images. - Digital MOCs (LDD or otherwise) aren't currently indexed. I am considering creating a new index for LDD MOCs when LXF files are made available by the author. Feel free to share your thoughts on how digital MOCs should be dealt with here. Thanks for your help and carry on! Quote

Are you referring to your Wacky challenge entry? You should create a dedicated topic for it, as only topics are indexed. Quote
Spitfire2865 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Well my mistake then. Could have sworn I saw some from the challenge there that didn't have their own thread. Quote
Fugazi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I don't think there are, but feel free to start a new topic for your MOC as they tend to get lost in that Wacky Challenge thread. Quote

Perhaps rather than indexing specifically "digital" MOCs, have two groups: "instructions available" or "digital form available" so that folks looking for detailed guidance have a handy spot to turn to. These two categories could include some of the MOCs listed elsewhere in the various physical build categories as well as those that only exist as digital. That's my 2c, but it may be too time consuming to actually implement it. Benn Quote

I'm not so keen on indexing every digital MOC, mainly because I like to know that the methods and part choices have been validated by building a physical counterpart. On the other hand I'm sure that LDD MOCers would appreciate their creations being indexed as well. I need to give this more thought. Opinions are welcome, there's plenty of time to figure out the best way to do this. I don't plan on tackling the MOC index until the Train Techopedia has been fully brought up to date, which will take a while longer. Quote
