Hello!

I was thinking about a car that I will built. I started from idea of making all wheel drive car with suspension.

Well, I came to this crazy steering knuckle

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

It was really challenging to make drive axle in 15 studs with classic wheels

Later I built full front axle with suspension

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

Now suspension is pretty soft, steering works, and I like it

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

I am going to try make as many things as possibe, like working steering wheel, gearbox...

Now I think, why not to built jeep wrangler? I was building a jeep wrangler before, and I liked this car

Thank you your attention! :classic:

After a long time without news I built something looking like a chassis

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

800x450.jpg

I was thinking really hard with question: "how to fit 4-speed gearbox, all wheel drive, suspension, steering wheel and some space for seat and interior in such small scale".

First object of my thoughts was 4-speed gearbox. I found some variants in google, but no one of it wasn't fitting to my chassis because of output axle not in the center. So, I modified one of the gearboxes and come to what I have now

800x450.jpg

Unfortunately, there is quite a lot friction. Of course, the gearshift is too high, but I don't know how to make lower

The next was fake engine and steering system together, because engine also needs some space under the hood) Tried a lot of variants, I came to this, that works pretty good, but I had to refuse front depended axle in favor to pretty simple pendular axle, but it still depended suspension :)

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

After it all I just connected rear axle and get it. Now I have to do working steering wheel and detachable hog, if it will be possible

Thank you for reading! I would like to read your comments :classic:

Perhaps this idea could help you on front axle...

Pretty nice idea... First I was trying to make something with these details, but as I can see, axle with these steering knuckles will be wider than 15 studs

Yes it is on limit or little above; second problem is very often in my MOCs; they are always one stud to wide

Maybe this would help with the wheel hubs.

Thank you. Another nice idea, but again axle with these hubs will be wider that 15 studs (

After another brainstorm I built steering system, that really works!

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

Here you can see system better

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

After these gears another pair of 8 tooth gears rotates lever, that moves steering link

And in action:

See also how gear changes from 1st to 4th in order

+1 in the amazed group. :classic: Good to see, that you got rid off the rubber bands, and the steering gear mesh is really nice!

Thank you very much! Pleasant to read comments from you!)

It looks like to me that your chassis has too long nose to fit Wrangler proportions, but it might be caused by photos or by tge fact that I like modified JEEPs more than the original stock versions. I am not sure.

You are right! These 7 studs beams were temporary solution

This time I was making seats and new fake engine, also it caused little chassis changes

800x450.jpg

New engine works much smother and better than older version, also "nose" was cut off for the space for grille and front bumper

800x450.jpg

First seats were planned 4 studs wide, but gearbox and scale dictated its conditions

Thank you for your comments!

It’s a pity that U can’t put inside technic figures cause gearbox

No, I actually can put technic minifig on passenger seats!

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

But on driver's seat there is the same problem as in russian minibuses "Gazelle" - unnecessary leg

This evening was pretty productive

I made all seats that car needs

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

Driver's seat place was modified and now here technic minifig fits too, look, @Shtykoff

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

There enough space for 4 minifigs, one extra place in the center of rear seats, but not so comfortable

800x450.jpg

Also rear suspension was modified because of upcoming weight at the rear, and now it is torsion

Hello

After a week some bodywork elements are drawed

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

LBG 5 stud axle in the grille will be replaced with black one

Opening hood (or why I was puzzling about fake engine?) )

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

Also I reinforced front axle (escpecially wheel mounting), mounted torsion bars and made axle truly depended! Need to say that suspension travel is small, for this reason front axle in majority is working as pendular

800x450.jpg800x450.jpg

I hope, I will finish model before the deadline :)

Thank you for reading!
