A new topic, separated for 42111 set modifications and improvements.

First of all, the Stud.io file that can be easily used for the further MODs: https://bricksafe.com/files/Void_s/42111/42111.io

Initially I was trying to build something similar made of 41999 set and was very surprised by such a similarity of this model and my attempt o make it:

Yes, it had the same things:

  • Independent front suspension with showmobile hubs
  • 42041 wheels. Yeah I tried several types of them and these ones very similar to "modifed-pupmed up" chromed wheels.
  • Live axle rear suspension with Ball-Frame

So, the solution form that abandoned project could be easily applied to the 42111 set, but it will come later.

So now it's time for General Lee!

How about number 43???

I would make the nose longer a bit. Daytona had really long one and way sharper, so I'd use the triangle curved panels for it. But the idea is great!

@sirslayer: Check this thread:

...I think the panels I used at the front could also work for this larger scale model.

I think Daytona has smaller rear wing

And again we may try to make it using these curved panels :classic:

Yes that would be nice. Looking forward

Yeah, exactly!

Oh, and the supercharger has to go, for those Aero Warriors were aerodynamic. They also had some small but visible domes over the front wheel arches:

BTW, nice video about the history of the Charger Daytona and the Plymouth Superbird:

A newer update on the fender's , the side view looks odd but from  viewing at all different angles , its looks really great..  The rear sections still needs more work and will take advise from the tail to tall and the front end being to short.. I use to own a 72 Dodge Charger and my step father had a 70 Roadrunner and I think the front section overall seems to be to short if the model was built correctly..

Adopting my earlier 41999-based modifications to this set: #1 "the proper front fenders shaping"

  • Now has a better shaping for the wheel "hole", repeating the rear fenders shape
  • Follows the rounded shape of the front "bumper"
  • And another amazing thing: now the headlights are opened for using LED lights (nothing covers them from behind now)

Oh man, your parts are sooo scratched! The Eyesight renderer is really amazing.

Modifications look good (especially the changed mounting of the headlights)! Maybe add a black 1 x 4 modified plate with one stud on each end at the front fenders, connecting the two upper panels? Or will that hinder steering?

Well, yeah, I tried to get rid of "fresh-mint" look that was too unrealistic but seems to have overdone it. Got it, thanks.

As for these gaps, I'm working on a bit different things, hopefully they fill look better :classic:

A quick fix with a few pieces to improve the stance

I'm not so sure improving the stance is worth deleting the front suspension.

If you want to put it on the shelf then it's a possibility. Btw I added also a way to simply limit suspension travel.

I guess that's the sort of mod a street racer would do to his wobbly 70s muscle car, makes more sense and didn't need any unusual pieces

Edit: actually he'd probably cut the springs, guess you could also do it with Lego shocks!

@kbalage: Saw your video when browsing through YT. Lower looks really cool (and better than the original!). And maybe there's a way to have it that low at the front and still have some form of suspension (e.g. with brick-built shocks?).
