Hey everyone.
Would you say that the new creator 3 in 1 sets (I'm thinking the bicycle shop or the pet shop & café) would fit with the regular modular sets ? I was thinking about updating their base (I stumbled upon this topic Small Modular Building Standard and I thought it was very cleverly made) to make them fit, but I'm a bit worried about the architectural design.
The modular sets are based (if I'm not mistaken) around 80's design, while the creator sets look like actual buildings, and Im afraid it would not be appealing to see them stand alongside ...

What is your opinion ?

I'd say use them as buildings along the periferie of your town. Or a separate suburb.
There are a few lower modular buildings as well (detective's office for example). You could use that as a transition.

And as a last resort, remove a floor from buildings who might do without one, like the Brick Bank modular.

The key difference is that Creator 3-in-1 are open from the back, while modulars are complete buildings with 4 walls. But you can always mod the creator buildings, by adding missing walls, adding floors, etc. Architecture wise, I don't see any problems. There are plenty of streets with old and modern buildings in real life.

I used the petshop and café to fill a 24 stud wide space in my city by using a 16x32 and 2 8x16 base plates. It looks pretty good, will probably have to pick up another one to make it more detailed.

You'll find some picks in my city building thread.

The modular buildings are based on buildings from different eras and look much more like actual buildings than Creator 3-in-1 buildings.

The scale and style of modulars and Creator 3-in-1 is different, thus I would not combine them, at least not without modifications.

I think that architecturally they'd fit in for the most part, but scale-wise you may have to change a few things.  Either alternate modular-creator-modular, or something so that the smaller buildings don't look horribly out of place, or do what a few others have suggested and remove a floor from some of the modulars.

On a semi-related note, if you happen to have the City parking garage from a few years ago (I would guess around 2014), that's one of the few City sets that does fit in very well with the modulars for a layout.

Scale is the issue really.

I have got round this by having the centre of my town made up of modular with the 3-in-1 sets and City buildings out of the centre. I use larger City buildings like the fire station and hospital to bridge the divide and it works quite well.

I have added backs to most of the 3-in-1 and City buildings and put modular-like pavements along the front. I have the traditional white lampposts in the old town centre and more modern lampposts in the City end of town. All the buildings of all types are setup along Lego roadplates.

It all seems to work ok.

You could always MOD the 3-in-1s. Check my MODs out for inspiration:

It's reatively easy to keep the main architectural elements, but to add a back wall and separate the floors from each other.

Your links don't work, but they do now after I quoted it.  Never mind.
