MasterTyvokka Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 How hard is it to determine a set from partially built components? Easiest way? I recently bought a bulk lot of legos and there are a few partially built Star Wars sets. I know what a couple of them are, but the rest I am unsure. Since Star Wars Lego is what I collect I'd like to attempt to put together as many sets as I can from the lot. Quote
Mandalorianknight Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 As far as I know there isn't a special trick here, just look for defining features, exclusive parts/prints, what figures were in the bulk lot (if any), etc. If you want to post images of them here, I can help figure out which ones they are. Hold0511 Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 (edited) Yup echo Mandalorianknight - if you share images between us here we can probably crack the sets in the bulk buy - even non-SW sets which may have found their way into the mix. Edited April 9, 2020 by Hold0511 Quote
MasterTyvokka Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 Thanks for the offer of help. I was going to post the pictures but the file size limit is very small. Is that a post count thing? Quote

MasterTyvokka Posted April 9, 2020 Author Posted April 9, 2020 Here are the pictures. I've numbered them (in my head) one though however many there are in each picture of left to right. I think most of these are from Star Wars sets but there a few I am pretty sure aren't star wars. I know some of these are relatively small sections. Thanks for the help! http:// Quote
Israel Hands Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 (edited) You have a mixture there Part: 8, is Lukes T16 Skyhopper https://brickset.com/sets/75081-1/T-16-Skyhopper Part 11, possibly is from Marvel HulkBuster Smash https://rebrickable.com/sets/76031-1/the-hulk-buster-smash/?inventory=1#parts Part 16, Ninjago https://brickset.com/sets/2521-1/Lightning-Dragon-Battle Part 19, which I thought was from Marvel Avengers, looks to be from Agents Speedboat Rescue instead https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=8633-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0} I would pull up the parts list for these and start to pull some of the bricks out now that you know what the sets are BTW is number 12 Caution, LEGO?? The studs look like one of the generic brick studs type Edited April 9, 2020 by Israel Hands Quote
Israel Hands Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Several of the dark green parts may be from the Bounty hunter gunship https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?S=7930-1#T=S&O={"iconly":0} Quote
m4st3rt3ch Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Top left green is 75168 Yoda's Jedi Starfighter. Quote
Kit Figsto Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 Just jumping in with a few that I don't think people have mentioned yet Third picture, top left corner looks to be 75183, Darth Vader Transformation Third picture, second from left looks like most of the bike from 75037, Battle on Saleucemi Third picture, second from right is the wing of a snowspeeder, I'm not entirely sure which set. Second picture, top left corner and the first picture top right corner both look to be Galaxy Squad sets, just based on the colors. I don't own t, but 70709 is the largest one with those light blue colors, so it might be that (someone that owns the set can probably confirm) In the bottom row, middle of the second picture, you've got the head of 40203, Vampire and Bat. Both of the windows in the bottom row of the first picture look like Star Wars parts, but I'm not 100% sure what ships they're off of. Quote
Per_SW Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 I gave it a shot, but I warn you that searching through bricklink some of the most peculiar single parts may bring better results, since I only used the 2017 ultimate book as a reference Going left to right, top to bottom I identified 1) more than half a 75168 Yoda Starfighter, as stated 2) Part from the core of the Umbaran MHC (75013), also from this set parts 17 and 31 (a side cover and part of a leg) 3) I can confirm its the front of the BH Gunship (7930) AlthoughI can't confirm it part 15 may be from the same build 6) I'm pretty sure it's the top hatch from the FO TIE (75101) 7) Looks like half a speeder bike, but I have not found a set looking like it 8) as stated is a windshield from the 75081 Skyhopper 9) From the pattern on the glass it looks like it's from DS Final Duel (75093) but again I cannot confirm it 13) Comes from the Mando Speeder 75022 24) I agree with the posts above, it looks like the base from Vader's Transformation (75183) 25) I'm pretty sure is an almost complete BARC from 7193 26) is definitely a snowspeeder wing, don't know which one 27) is an almost complete speeder bike from the Solo Imperial BP (75207) and finally 28) is part of the Micro-Wookiee Gunship (75129), with 29 being one of its wings. Hope it helps, you have quite a mixture there. Quote

Mandalorianknight Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Only thing I can add is that part 9 is 100% from DS final duel, other than that I think that's everything. I'd encourage getting that BARC built especially, it's a pretty good model. Quote
Israel Hands Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Now you just need to post the pictures once you've completed each set. Looking forward to that Quote
MasterTyvokka Posted April 10, 2020 Author Posted April 10, 2020 Thanks for all the help! I found the other snowspeeder wing and I think that is set 4500. Unfortunately most of the mini figs to these sets aren't present, although there are a few. I also found the leg joint caps to the AT-TE but I am not sure if the whole things is present. The Star Wars sets I am going attempt to complete, because I collect these, but I am not sure about the others. How much more value is there in partially or mostly complete sets vs a bulk lot? Trying to decide if its worth my time to complete all of the known sets. Quote

Kit Figsto Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Oh, just one more thing I realized, in the third photo, the top right is the speeder from 75207 Imperial Patrol Battle Pack without the guns. The red studs along the top are supposed to be ammo for the stud-shooters that would attach to the sides. Also, yeah, if you're going to sell stuff off, it'd be best to try to put the sets together as much as possible. People are likely going to pay more if you sell them as individual (incomplete) sets rather than bulk lots, since it takes time to sort through and pull stuff out, as I'm sure you've figured out. tfcrafter Posted April 10, 2020 Posted April 10, 2020 Middle of the bottom row in the first picture looks like the speeder from 7752 Solar Sailer. Quote

Mandalorianknight Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 Someone may have already said this, but in the second photo on the bottom row, to the right of the thing that looks like a head is part one of the speeders from a solo set, 75215 cloud-rider swoop bikes. Quote

You're right, I forgot about the Silencer =D I'll say it's the book's fault for stopping right before the first TLJ wave, and not the fact that I wasn't consulting brickset/bricklink as I advised in my own post =D Quote

Luckily i can just stand up and pick 'em from the shelf ^^ Quote
MasterTyvokka Posted April 11, 2020 Author Posted April 11, 2020 Thanks for all the help. I am pleased to see I have so many parts for a good number of Star Wars sets. I'll complete what I can and use Bricklink to pick up the missing pieces. Unfortunately, the Minifigs are missing from most of these sets but that's to be expected from a bulk lot. First thing first is to get the rest of the bricks sorted and then I will attempt to get these sets put together. I'll post pictures when I am done. In the meantime, here's a shot of my current Star Wars Lego collection. Quote
Mandalorianknight Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Nice collection, you've got alot of older sets that look in pretty good condition! And of course, "jedi bob" from the 2002 gunship. Quote

And the "head" next to looks like a Mixel set probably from the pirate sub line. Plus the second item from the left (top row) might of come from the Hulk-Buster set from the Age of Ultron line. The fourth part (of the top row) could of also came from the agents boat set or one of the clone wars sets. Quote
