Hinckley Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Yes! I found my ticket after all... This is really fun and sophisticated at the same time, Brickster. You got a lot of cool detail in there while staying true to your Grave Stone theme. I would buy this and the station in a second if I saw it on the shelf at the store and I'd think "LEGO nailed it with this one!" I love the use of the trumpet and the realistic looking steam valves and other steam-engine doo-hickies. I really like the arched windows in the cab and I didn't even notice the bat at first. The only thing I question is the webbed radar dish. Was that on purpose or would you use a solid one if you had it? I don't know enough about steam engines to know if it's an accuracy thing. But that a very small thing. I really love it and am so excited to see all of the building you've been doing lately. Great work! Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 The only thing I question is the webbed radar dish. Was that on purpose or would you use a solid one if you had it? I don't know enough about steam engines to know if it's an accuracy thing. Thanks for your comments Hinck. I tried a few different front ends, none of which I really liked. In addition, the one dark stone closed dish that I have belongs to the Millenium Falcon which is burried in my garage somewhere. I didn't want to go searching for it. After looking at several ideas on Brickshelf, I saw a train that had used the "webbed" design with another smaller one in front. I liked the way it looked so decided to give it a try. I didn't think it looked too bad, but a closed dish would have probably been better. You've got a great eye for the details. Quote
hollisbrick Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Wow that is soo kool!!! I loe it! Better than some trains that TLG have released.. Quote
Batbrick Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 This one's for you BatBrick, a bat bell on one of the smokers: , thanks TheBrickster. I love this train so much, you've really made a great construction with it while keeping that unique Grave stone feel. Ingenious idea with the dish at the front, and I love the batbell and other tidbits too. The coal engine with the covering spider web is a great touch not many builders wolud go to length with, so that's great to see here. I love your stickers too, they are so good I couldn't believe they weren't photoshopped in! The light brick looks great, giving it a nice spooky feel in the Grave stone pictures, I'm glad you are making these again, they were a major source of inspiration for me to get back into Lego when I first saw this sight, so thanks. The rear carriage perhaps looks a little plain, but I cannot think of anything to add to it really, and I like the hatch. Overall a fantastic job, thanks fo showing! Batbrick Away! Quote
cyclone501 Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I'm going to be deadly honest with you. You should sell this idea to Lego. I friggin' love this Ghost Town stuff!!!! Quote
