Shtykoff Posted April 25, 2020 Author Posted April 25, 2020 (edited) Hi every1. I am back with some updates about the build. first of all I made working piston fake engine. For me it was very difficult task. So I used double rubber drive from rear wheels. I made hog too. Rebuild front grill and use some azure tiles to improve hood look. cause lack of experience I apologise but I couldn’t make working steering wheel. thats all for now. I still have to build interior and improve doors. Thx for reading and enjoy some pics. Edited April 25, 2020 by Shtykoff Quote
1980SomethingSpaceGuy Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 You may use a chain from the steering axis below to build a working steering wheel. Of course it'd be horizontal, which is not perfect, but that should be easy to devise. Quote

1980SomethingSpaceGuy Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 You may try with 2 of those: A couple pieces in between and bevel gears. Would be self-structural and more elegant. Quote
1gor Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 If you move steering gear (that is in contact with gear rack) do you get the same steering angle on both sides? If yes (and if it does not influence fake engine) you would not need those two gears with 8 tooth. Quote

Samolot Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 Very nice model. I once built similar vehicles but on a larger scale. Quote

Shtykoff Posted April 26, 2020 Author Posted April 26, 2020 (edited) I am back with some updates. I made engine one stud shorter, so now it has 6 pistons. Made working steering wheel but unfortunately it’s horizontal. Cause this upgrade I’ve got big fat hog mechanism inside the cabin. I try rebuilded mustang seat with minor azure add. Maybe I’ll change them to technic seats. So in the future I’m planning to improve small details. Edited April 26, 2020 by Shtykoff Quote
Tomik Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I like oldschool look of your pickup especially front grill is excellent. And those rearview mirrors are funny addition. I am looking forward to see finished model. Quote

Shtykoff Posted May 3, 2020 Author Posted May 3, 2020 I’m back. i understood, thx @Limga, that hood doesn’t look like on the real car. Here we can easy compare them. so for now my version don’t look bad but it’s not ok for sure. Now I a trying different styles Well good news I finished doors using curved panel 3x7 and made openable trunk door. Quote
Shtykoff Posted May 11, 2020 Author Posted May 11, 2020 Hello every one again. I am back, with I think finished model, for today. So I’d like to post some final pics and make entry. first of all I wanna say that this is my first public moc in my life. Ofc I’m sure every part of the build can be improved but I see it like this. final model as it is: Model was inspired by Bulgarian (don’t know how that guys call) hot rod pick up in azure color made from Russian truck Gaz 53 (real truck was developed in 1953). U can see original on the photo. Cause I have dog I can go outside for a walk not far from home. So I made some photos. my moc features: 1. Working 6 cylinder line engine from rear wheels using rubber drive. There is no diffs and suspension in model. 2. Openable doors, hood, trunk door, and trunk floor to get access to tools. 3. Working steering wheel and hog on the roof 4. Extremely low clearance. 5. Cool chrome parts and some accessories. All other photos U can see on flickr https://www.flickr.com/photos/187954099@N06/ Thx every1 for support and answers. Quote

Tomik Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 I can't say it in other way: your truck is perfect - body is excellent especially front. It has just one wrong feature that bothers me - too small wheels... Quote

Well about the wheels, yes I can agree that they are a little smaller but if I make them bigger I can’t fit them inside wheel arches and keep clearance as low as it is. Shtykoff Posted May 17, 2020 Author Posted May 17, 2020 Well after making entry I’ve got lots of feedback about roof and windshield racks. So I made small update to fix it. Quote
1gor Posted May 17, 2020 Posted May 17, 2020 Cute doggy (We know that pickup is very nice already, and now bonnet looks better IMHO ) Quote
