Posted April 15, 20204 yr My entry for the "Need Castle Fix Contest" on Lowlug. The 6086 is a true classic and this is how I would see it as a set today. So I tried to stay true to the original. But a bit more realistic. So no open towers and half a house and so on. And of course the minifigs deserved a makeover. Also raised baseplates aren't being used so I went for something that had a sort of similar look to it. Doesn't this make you want to finally have Castle back!;)
April 15, 20204 yr Aw man... If this was a set, AFOLs would go mad! Everything is simple but stupendous! You have made a masterpiece of a castle without using extremely complicated techniques, which would make this an epic set. AWESOME!!!
April 15, 20204 yr Incredible work, Ecc. Beautiful castle with straight up technique. Could easily be a set on its own. And it warms my heart to see the green dragon clan being put to use. Cheers!
April 16, 20204 yr This is fantastic, easily recognizable yet has some new techniques and colors. I like the symmetry of the colors on the castle from dark grey and light grey. The gate house is really a fine looking build. I think the arches throughout the build are a nice touch that resembles the original. The use of the green slope pieces is nice addition of color to the build and an interesting use here, looks really good. Everything is so clean on this build making it look sleek and refined. The figs are great, I like the use of the cmf elf combining it with the kingdoms dragon knights is a good idea. Wonderful build.
April 16, 20204 yr this is great creation.always when i see a rebuild castle like i try to do i love it.very nice build details , very nice figures and for sure very nice photos!! well done!!
April 16, 20204 yr So what part of Avalonia is this in? Looks awesome, and I would buy this in a heartbeat.
April 16, 20204 yr pfff..this brings me back to my childhood years the 6086 actually the first big castle I ever owned and the only set I rebuild more than once along with the wolf pack renegades.. I really like the way you kept the footprint but made it an altogether new build with similar but different techniques, I'm especially fond of how you did the drawbridges (there's 2 now!) dungeon/pit area and the mess hall, although that keep and portcullis need an honourable mention too! that pack of soldiers is just marvelous, as said above the use of that cmf body with the green dragon sigil is brilliant, but also the different faces feel good and even though there's more archers than I can remember it feels natural as there's already the wolf pack guy looks great too although maybe a little too great to be in a set with the double cloak, printed legs and the cmf scary knight face lol that ghost though.. do you per chance remember which part belongs to which set? I'm set on having me a few of those myself *putting on supercritical hat* personally I don't like the switch from black to dark bley but that's just me.. another thing that feels a bit off is how the knights and even the soldiers aren't as unique characters as in the set because of the shields and color scheme being the same/similar. I'd rather see the guy with the black barding with a white plume and maybe one of the guys with the one piece helmet with a red/dark red plume, and some of the soldiers with the green dragon tunic still like Mr. Quilones said..I would buy this in a heartbeat if this was an Ideas set Edited April 16, 20204 yr by Ravelino
April 17, 20204 yr Really like how you kept all the detailed and transformed them in your revamped style... Really liked the way you put the folliage at rocks too... Such a great job Ecc :)
April 18, 20204 yr Awesome Ecc, simply awesome! 6086 is my favorite LEGO castle set, by far and this update is fantastic. I love how you used the curved slopes to emulate the old raised base plate and the switch from black to dark bley looks great. I might not have put the horizontal stripe in the rounded towers, but that's a minor complaint I think.
April 18, 20204 yr What a great castle!! I have, and obviously I love the castle of the 6086 set. Impressive! Extraordinary!! You really take the new building techniques in that classic set!! Fantastic words. I am without words to describe it. There are extraordinary beautiful castles, but this adaptation of that historic set worth an applause!! If possible, I will only ask for the instructions to make it!! (I will not change nothing in my classic set!!). Thanks for sharing
April 24, 20204 yr I love black knights! I'm honored to have seen my first citadel/keep. I know it's a castle but I've never heard of a black knights castle- I've been Role-Playing as one on RuneScape, and that takes direct action to not step on my own capes shadow. I'll go see right now. Only black knight I know of currently is of Poland, and I am of Poland. I do not like the specture though.

So many very nice details, well done! Sorry, pushed the wrong button and replied on the full material. My apologies. This would have been the correct way to do it
May 30, 20204 yr This was my favorite set as a kid. I still have it built actually since the early 90s. You captured the shaping well. I do like the new baseplate/greenery. It works here. A bit smooth in places, but that can't be helped. The gray color scheme...that is not for me. I think it would work well for the Dragon knights from Kingdoms, as you are using them. But for BLACK knights, I guess I'm too much of a purist. Why would they be called Black Knights if they don't have any black? That was the main appeal of the original castle, black with light gray trim. It stood out among all of the gray castles that came before it (and after it). But just one man's opinion. I do like the build techniques and the building itself looks great. You captured the updated shape of the original, so I will give kudos to that. The interior looks well done also. I just think it should be black still.
