VIDIYO - Universal Music 2021

Called my local Lego store today and the employee on the phone said that brand stores wouldn't be getting them, only Shop@Home. Guess the rumors were true; we'll see if the other rumor about Walmart getting them in stores is also true, since their website still has no listing.

What a wild ride. They can't sell Vidiyo sets to anyone, and then when they release Vidiyo sets that people actually want, they don't make enough copies to sell them.

Eh… did i just see an official Vidiyo Animal Crossing mash-up? Like are there going to be Animal Crossing Vidiyo sets???

Terrible? But i like Animal Crossing very much. I would say terrific theme 

maybe they are going to make them amiibo matching as well? Or maybe they are using it only to boost the Vidiyo app. In that case we maybe can expect more licensed themes in the future, or a lego based dlc for the Animal Crossing game

btw In the Netherlands we have a streaming service (like netflix) called Videoland. Very similar with Vidiyoland

I am not sure, but it does make some sense. Both feature large-headed anthropomorphic animal characters, and Animal Crossing already has a large, established, fan base, so merging it with VIDIYO somehow could give the theme a much-needed boost in visibility and popularity. 🤔

When I went to the Lego store they had a box of 24 (Bandmates Series 1) and grabbing one entire row of 12 on one side proved successful to get the entire series with no duplicates. If you happen to stumble upon a new box thats a safe bet I believe.

 

on that note I actually love these figure designs and would love to get some while on sale. I haven’t seen any Bandmates series 2 at my local Lego stores or anywhere else. Any idea when the Series 2 Bandmates should be available in the US south? 
 

Also any idea what sets in this theme will retire this Christmas? My understanding is its just the beat boxes, I hope to get the Pirate Ship, Boombox Stage and Candy Castle next year, they should still be around after December right?

Bandmates series 2 appear to only have been available on lego.com in the US, and they're now sold out. There were reports of them also being available from Wal-Mart, but so far no sightings.

Any US based members who were able to get an order in of the series 2 bandmates looking for a trade?

I ordered the max of 12 figures and didn't get the 1 figure I was truly after - DJ Captain.

So, I have any of the below figures to trade for the DJ Captain in brand new-in-polybag condition:

I bought all of the stage sets except for the $100 - there is discount on Amazon right now. Also the newer stand alone minis (not bandmates) were on sale for $16 on Amazon. Got those as well.

Bandmates series 2 became available on Amazon Canada a few days ago. Regular price maximum 7 per person. Now they are letting us buy 30 but 8,98$ each. And it from amazon. Not a reseller. Yikes

Today I found Bandmates series 2 at Walmart. They weren't in the Lego aisle; they were near the Christmas section, in the main aisle in a blue cardboard display with some other Lego ($10.00 sets, polybags and Marvel cmfs). They weren't in the display box - they were all loose (so no taking one row of the box to get a full set).

Bought five of Series 2 directly from LEGO here in Australia. They suckered me with a Black Friday promotion to redeem less VIP points than usual, which just covered 75% of the shipping cost because, Australia.... (I don't buy directly from LEGO very often besides Bricks & Pieces). I did briefly see them available from one regular retailer, but only briefly.

At least I got five different ones, including the Beat Box one and the Zombie, whose accessories are great. There are many I would've prefered over the other three, but oh well.

Overall there are some pretty huge discounts on these sets available here. Big W has the Boombox for $55, down from the RRP of $140. Australian Kmart was selling Bandmates Series 1 for $1. LEGO did the whole thing backwards. The sets were much better than the overpriced BeatBoxes released initially, and Series 2 has much more universally useful Minifigures than Series 1 so probably would've done better too.

They should have released some of the stage sets (maybe some of the smaller ones like the car) alongside the first wave of blind boxes and clear-container thing.

I don't live near a Wal-Mart or go into them often, but had the opportunity to do so this evening and they had some Series 2 Bandmates. Managed to get six of the ones that I wanted (Vampire Bassist, Slime Singer, Puppy Singer, DJ Beatbox, DJ Captain (my favourite), and Discowgirl Guitarist). Only 'need' Karaoke Mermaid and DJ Rasp-beary to get the ones I hoped for.

As others have reported, they were in a mid-aisle cardboard display stand, not with the regular LEGO sets.

Bandmates 2 were only at two Walmarts anywhere near me, one sold out rather quick and I rather not get stabbed to get LEGO. The other I haven't been to since precovid as it takes a bit to get there.

However you can order two at a time on their website, so I've placed two orders and they came in. Got 4, including swamp thing, but no dragon who I want the most.

Got another pair of Series 1 today at Target while I was getting my vaccine booster. Got Werewolf Drummer and Samurapper (the latter being my first duplicate, which I might send to my sister).

I might try to check WalMart sometime soon to see if I can find any Series 2 before they disappear. I don't feel any need to collect them all but I do like the figs and Beatbits and would like to pick up a couple if I have the chance.

Will probably pick up some of the stages at some point in the future too, especially if they go on sale like the first wave beatboxes did.

I tried buying two more Bandmates series 2 from Walmart. They sent me two DJ Unicorns, one with a 'substitution' sticker on it. I wish they sent two different ones. I'm like the mermaid, dragon and a few others but not for $12-$16.

Managed to engineer a trip to a Walmart still during these as in stock, but no luck. Suspect that might be it now. Oh well. Got most of what I wanted. What a difference from series 1. There were still loads of beat boxes there though. And a few sets. Not much of anything else from any other line.
