It seems to me that Mario works because it actually is a physical game with the LEGO, not an in-app experience. The app is there for building instructions and otherwise not necessary.

So far, the "build a thing, then do a different thing with an app" themes haven't seemed to work, including Dimensions. If a kid's playing with LEGO they're playing with LEGO, and if they're having some screen time they're having screen time. The concept of "play with LEGO for a little bit and then cross over into screen time" forces the two together unnaturally.

However, since this theme is about creating and sharing short videos rather than stopping playing with LEGO to play a full on videogame instead, perhaps it will work better.

I could be wrong, but I remember seeing something about a stage set awhile ago when info about the theme was first coming out. I havent heard about any other sets besides the $20 pod-things (which imo sound like a rip-off, but they might be worth it), and the cmf/bandmates thing. Does anyone have/know where I can find the full list, or is that all of it?

 

Also, any idea when there gonna release pics of the actual sets? I know that they come out on march 1st, and the Ninjago island sets that come out on the same day have pics, so it should be soon. However im not 100% sure those were release by Lego, they could have just been from another online seller.

Weird that LEGO didn't simply announce the sets today as all the Toy Fairs are canceled / delayed. However if the rumoured price / piece count is correct this is going to be a great theme to get on clearance this summer.

There is a list of all that is coming out in March and this summer on jedijacpenguin’s site. 
 

it’s seems that for March we will only be getting the beatboxes and the bandmates but that the Summer wave has a few small sets (+bandmates2) and larger ones so probably the stage you are talking about.

There are some very grainy images on IG of three Bandmates, two I don't think have had good visuals. One is the ice cream guy. It looks like we'll be getting a (brick built?) 6 x 1 2/3 stand that can hold three tiles, and some accessories relating to the fig.

I asked on IG about one of these pics (the blue one) and someone told me: its probably the lizard that leaked in the other pictures. Sadly I have yet to find: the other pictures

I believe the blue minifigure is the shark that appears in the skate park set from city line this year.

True, but neither of those were minifigure based. imo the bandmates series is much closer to a cmf than those 2 considering it has actual minifigs, but I do see your point.

These figs really are turning out to be Fabuland in Space. And I am so there for it.

That Unicorn bears a striking resemblance to Pony Head from Star vs. the Forces of Evil.  Might just a coincidence, but it's weird how spot on the color scheme looks.  I might get the figure just because of that.

This is the key argument right there. When TLG have blurred the lines with apps and AR for in-house themes like Next Knights and Hidden Side, it hasn’t really been a success. They seem obsessed with it.

I’m pretty sure the minifigure is in the reveal video. The minifigure also leaked on IG. I’m unsure if the set has leaked.
