Please contact a member of staff to help rectify the problem" Can someone help? You're trying to link to your gallery, not your avatar. To find the proper url, you need to click the image you wish to use, then rightclick it and select "copy image location" or something similar. Alternately, you can just click the image again then copy the url from your browser. Welcome to EB!
Hinckley Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I just bought a new camera and I took some new pics for my avatar but when I try to upload them it says"The error returned was:The upload failed. Please contact a member of staff to help rectify the problem" Can someone help? I assume the picture is too big. You can try to upload it to Brickshelf and link to it from there. Can you tell me the file size of the picture you're trying to upload. BTW, your signature needs the link tags, not the code tags, if you want people to be able to view your Brickshelf gallery.
wulf Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Sorry I'm new to links url ect I am trying to put a picture in my avatar and add a link to brickshelf in my signature, I'm not sure about the size...I think its 2.32mb.
Hinckley Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I think its 2.32mb. You have an upload limit of 100K, you will have to upload the pic to Brickshelf and link your avatar to it. In your sig the link should appear like this: [url="http://www.brickshelf.com/"]My Brickshelf Gallery[/url] Use the first button in the reply screen row after the emoticons. It has a green plus sign on it. That's for links. You will be prompted to enter some text and a URL. The tags are only used to show BBCode... Here are some links to some helpful tutorials. I believe we are working on a new Brickshelf Tutorial, so in the meantime here's the text that used to exist there:Hi there. So now you have your Brickshelf account up and running, but what good is it without being able to upload and share your pictures?Once you log in, you'll see a screen similar to what we have pictured below. To start, click on the button that says "Add a folder". This will allow you to create a folder to put your pictures in. That brings us to the next screen. Fill out the information as required: a short name for the folder, a short description of what will go in the folder, and keywords that can be used to search for your folder. Don't forget to check off which catagories the contents will be a part of! If you're not sure, the safe bet is "My Own Creation". Next, on the third screen you'll find a bunch of buttons at the top. The first button is the one you'll probably be using most: "Upload". By pressing this button, you'll be able to go to the next screen and upload your pictures to Brickshelf! Rescan let's you replace one picture with another. The next two buttons let you edit what you've already uploaded, while delete let's you remove an image you've uploaded. The final button lets you add a subfolder for even more organization. And you thought your bricks were the only things you had to organize! ;-) On the fourth screen, you can finally upload your pictures! By pressing "Browse", a box will pop up (the last image in this tutorial) where you can select the picture you want to upload. When you found it, press upload and you will have uploaded your first image! This final screen is the box that pops up when you hit "Browse" will let you navigate through your computer to find the images you want to upload, just find where you put the pictures, and hit the "Open" button. That will close the box that popped up, allowing you to hit "Upload". Congratulations, you've uploaded your first image! It takes awhile for images to become open to the public, so if you want to show people your images right away (like what I did with this tutorial), click on your image twice, until the URL ends in .jpg Linking to that will allow others to see what you've uploaded before the pictures get approved. I assume the time is taken to scan the pictures to make sure there is no inappropriate content. If you have any questions, I'll be glad to answer them.
Corvus Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 [overly-simple answer] If you've uploaded it onto BS, click on the pick until it's on the white background. Then copy the url and paste it. If you're uploading straight from your documents, it'd probably just be easier to load it on to BS.[/overly-simple answer]
