Posted May 27, 20204 yr Back again with another machine shop addition! This time I've been looking at CNC machines, specifically the Haas line of vertical mills. This was a lot of fun to put together, at one point I even motorised the whole thing which was... interesting. It worked surprisingly well but at this scale it was hard to disguise the motor and still keep the model looking balanced. Little video of that available on YouTube. I'm planning a few more in this series, and instructions for all my tools will be available soon, starting with the lathe (which now looks pretty dinky in comparison...!) And the real thing for comparison: Cheers :) Edited May 27, 20204 yr by electropie
May 28, 20204 yr this is hilarious. lovely work throughout the whole series. Maybe I should try to make the OMAX waterjet I used to use. I've been planning to make a machine shop for my City for a while and when I finally get around to it I'll be ripping off many of your tools.

June 16, 20204 yr Yeah! It really a fantastic job, I am learning how to be a machinist when I am in college as a hobby. I like tinkering with things my whole life so its a good way to vent that habit out!
June 16, 20204 yr Author I made a bigger motorised model here too you might like (I dont think the scale modeling forum did haha) - Good luck with your machining hobby dude! Goes hand in hand with lego for sure ;)
