simonwillems Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 That's a really nice idea! I see that the bricklink price for this is $29.99, are they going to be available in stores? Though the idea is a good one, I will only consider buying this if the old figures appear in their original coulours, that means old-gray on the crook.... Having been a Lego collector all my life I will own most of the figures to be brought out, but it's nice for people who came into the hobby later on. Thanks for posting this anyway! Quote
Asuka Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 It could be cool to merge these two threads here on this perhaps a little more appropriate place.... And the set idea´s so great it could even deserve some mention on the frontpage too.... Quote
CopMike Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 Sorry to Burst your bubble but there is alredy a topic on it here.Stauder. And your bubble to!It looks cool but a bit "plain" by itself. That´s why I´m putting my hope in the Vintage Minifigure Collection Vol. 1-sentence - I wonder what Vol. 2 & 3 & 4 & ...... will be ?! Vintage On copmike Quote
Freddie Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 You know, if Athos hadn't posted this here in this forum, I probably wouldn't have been aware of this new collectors' set. And because it includes figures from across themes (even if this vol. 1 is mostly town with a dash of classic space), I think it belongs here, and not in the space forum. I will be keeping my eyes open for these - I am a big fan of these figures. Not sure if I will buy them outright, though - they are a bit on the expensive side. Quote
filefolders Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 They are being sold right here: http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?itemID=79893 I wonder where they got their hands on them. I hope they're not stolen! Quote
brickbitz Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 If LEGO had thought this out a little better and released them as Minifig collectors theme packs we'd all be buying them till the cows come home and their annual profits would shoot through the roof. Just imagine Classic Space collection, Castle collection , Pirates collection, Paradisa collection and so on.... *drools over keyboard* The downside is of course they won't be quite be as vintage as the originals, can't forsee any non bley in the latest production runs. Quote
Tohst Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 If they threw us a curve and gave us classic-space suits in bley....I'd still buy them -Tohst....I'm a sucker for those torsos Quote

Zarkan Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 What a great idea! I bet this is going to sell a lot of money if they do more packs. Personally, I'd love to see a forestman, a classic castle soldier, Redbeard the pirate, a Blacktron space guy, and maybe an original Desert Adventurers figure. Quote
Dufresne Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 (edited) I'm very happy about this because even if I don't buy lots of full packs, this will result in a significant drop in the price of these minifigs on Bricklink. There are plenty of classic minifigs that I've wanted for a long time, but the cost has been too prohibitive. If later packs let me finally add some Blacktron I or Forestmen minifigs to my collections, I'll be thrilled. As for this one, I'll definitely be buying several packs. I only have a few classic spacemen in white and yellow, having found them by luck in a bulk E-bay purchase, and I have none in red. I don't have any firemen, no Octan workers, and just one classic prison uniform. Finally, although the general consensus seems to be that the mad scientist is the weakest fig of the bunch, I've wanted him for a long time. Swap out the head and you've got a regular doctor, and then I can use his crew cut for something else. (I only have one of those right now.) Edited May 21, 2008 by Dufresne Quote
Plural Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I think this is a brilliant idea. Kudos to you, TLC. Quote
Joey Lock Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 It´s a neat set, but no "must have".My hoping, too. If you ask me: NO! The Rarest seems to be Black with only 10 sets that Contain it? Quote
Tacitus Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 (edited) What, no Fabuland figs? I was waiting for it.... Edited May 22, 2008 by Tacitus Quote
Mirandir Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 It's a shame if the classic-space minifig has the newer helmet. Since that wouldn't make it an authentic classic-space minifig. If I remember correctly when they replaced the helmets they also redesigned the whole minifig giving us the futuron minifig. If it is a classic helmet I'll try to get a bunch of theese before it sells out. Otherwise I'll most likely only buy one or two, depending on the price, and keep them as MISB. Quote
legotrainfan Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Oh, this day must be a very special day! This is wonderful news! I also don't like it that the classic space fig has a new-style helmet and that the 1996 minifig will surely have bley legs. But hey, these minifigs are still great! Nice way of getting the classic space torso! It would be great if LEGO released theme specific minifig collections consisting of, for example, one classic astronaut, a futuron dude, a blacktron II and a Spyrius minifg. Something like that would be great! Anyway, wonderful news! Quote
salty tbone Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 I'm excited about the possibilities and applaud TLC for the effort, but for a first volume at least, the choices leave me scratching my head. Not only is there a gap of 10 years, but the last three figs are eh (for me). Where's castle, pirates, western? As long as they don't slip in a Timmy ... Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 It's a nice ideam and if the price is right I might just pick one of these up, I do hope to eem more of these in the future though! Though this is mainly to see if TLC still has the shako mold for the imperial guards. Quote
Axle Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Personally, I'd love to see a forestman, a classic castle soldier, Redbeard the pirate, a Blacktron space guy, and maybe an original Desert Adventurers figure. I second this! Except maybe swap one for govenor Broadside and an Imperial guard pack, and I'd buy loads! But, maybe you can only get these at the Lego Inside Tour? http://club.lego.com/en-us/news/newsdetails.aspx?id=41126 Anyways, I hope the next pack's pictures will appear soon and RETURN THE PIRATES TO THEIR PHYSICAL FORM!!! No, I don't know what I meant by the last 4 words. Quote
Zzz Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Nice find, always thought they do something like this for 25th birthday minifig celebration! As others said already, the choice is strange.. And it is nothing that turns me on, I have so many minifigs and these are not too interesting for me. I would have liked to see a futuron or blacktron1 minifig instead of the classic one, would match with the helmet, but that is just me. Also for Paradisa girl, 1991 train driver or mid 90s police, ANY WW fig or ANY Samurai fig I would definetely not say no ! The idea of theme oriented packs is too sweet.... but impossible.. Quote
Skipper 24 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Cool but I wouldn't really class 2002 as vintage only stuff about 2000 and under shoud o well classic space fig here i come Quote
Batbrick Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Well I like it, we are getting some nice figs here, and I only have 2 of them. Given that we are being majorly spoiled this year I'd take this as another treat, I mena c'mon, this is only vol.1! Batbrick Away! Quote
Jipay Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Cool but I wouldn't really class 2002 as vintage only stuff about 2000 and under shoud o well classic space fig here i come 2002 was 6 years ago, that's already vintage in the lego history Quote
