Hi, I've been looking for a moc or something that uses the L linear actuators for steering but all the mocs I find use the small linear actuators which I don't have. So I came here to ask if anyone here would have some mocs or something where they used the large linear actuators for steering. Thanks in advance.

Linear actuators tend to be slow of course, so for vehicles I don't think they are an obvious solution. For ships it should work though as they are precise and would help making steering less abrupt which is a problem, especially with larger ships.

They and the mini LAs can have a good use in wheel loaders and rock crawlers though, where speed is not that important.

Maybe this gives you an idea. More information on my website: www.designer-han.nl/lego

And look for the MoC: 6x6 Articulated Hauler. An no, its not the Volvo TLC released.

That is very true, Bricklink opened a whole new level of possibilities to me too.

If you are in the beginning of MOC-ing, than second hand sets can be also an option: https://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemIn.asp?P=92693c01&in=S

Choose the one with the most universal parts (or acc to preference) to create your stock, and look up local online advertisement / facebook, or Bricklink itself.

Thanks for the answers, I'll see what I can do with the large LAs now that I have some pics of others. And yes, I am thinking of buying the small LAs from bricklink along with some other stuff soon.

I did use a large actuator for steering in an off-road crawler I recently built. It was quite strong, and allowed huge gear reduction, but was very slow. It worked well in a crawler that would sometimes need to lift its weight when steering, but would be a poor choice for something needing responsive steering.

I'm thinking of making an off-road truck or something like that where I am not concerned about speed, and that's why I want LA steering. LAs are also very precise.

Years ago, I build a Case Steiger using LAs for the steering.  This was before the mini-LAs came out.  This was the first MOC I built after coming back from my dark ages around 2010.
