Really nice build - and in my opinion, a difficult prototype to a) recreate and b) look good, since it's well, not the prettiest car :D Great SNOT on the ends, I really like how you managed to both recreate the doors and have them hold the panels. Great job, and great detailing!

Thanks. I'd use single-stud brackets in an actual build of the doors. They too new for LDD, though :/.

Very nice with excellent details all around. The SNOT technique on the end is brilliant. I wonder how an assembly of this part on their sides would look for the steps at the ends? Of course you might not have room.

Could you perhaps link to the part or give me the... well, official name, if one can call it that? :D not too sure which part you mean, though I have some in mind.

Also, Pdaitabirds idea with the steps sounds nice as well, should look good and accurate.

It's this.

That looks fantastic, the interior detailing is insane.

As for the steps, there's also the 1x2x1 panel with two sides,

The reason I didn't use those is that it pushes the steps out really far (I was optimizing the swing arc of the coupler above aesthetics). I may end up going with them anyway, though, since people seem to think it's a flaw.

I lowered the cupola because I thought it was too high, and added the steps.

One thing I was curious about was: what are people's thoughts (if any) on the trucks? I used a technique I haven't seen before in other mocs.

I like how it looks lowering the roof a plate.

Its funny your mentioning the trucks.  Being new to the forum and relatively knew to looking at LEGO trains at a deeper level than just plastic toys, I DID notice the trucks.  I assumed it was an option others use, and to Me at least, I think they look good.

Let me give you a bit of history on this caboose. CP's Cabooses were called Angus Vans, not saddlebacks.

@M_slug357 They were called Angus Vans cause they were built at CP's Angus Shops. But yes they were called that on their whole rail network in Canada

Ok, I was a bit wrong, They were given the Nickname Saddleback. My apologies for the incorrect information.
