Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 "The Union"? Could this be in the sense of meaning in terms of the government? I mean, it was mentioned before that the state of Oregon wanted to buy his house/land. This was mentioned in the beginning by you, Athos...
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 Revisiting the Seal Pete states, "I do not believe the symbols represent the word KALI. Maybe we should try another word". The seal on the wall:
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 But where the heck is the 33rd star? Isn't it supposed to have 33 stars instead of 32 stars?!
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Let me inspect the seal: I can depict an escutcheon, or shield, supported by 33 stars and divided by an ordinary, or ribbon, with the inscription "The Union." Above the ordinary are the mountains and forests of Oregon, an elk with branching antlers, a covered wagon and ox team, the Pacific Ocean with setting sun, a departing British man-of-war signifying the departure of British influence in the region and an arriving American merchant ship signifying the rise of American power. Below the ordinary is a quartering with a shear of wheat, plow and pickax, which represent Oregon's mining and agricultural resources. The crest is the American Eagle/ Around the perimeter of the seal is the legend "State of Oregon, 1859. You're right. There are only 32 stars on there. It was xwingyoda who suggested there were 33 stars... maybe we could ask him. Steve
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 "Interesting observation Mister Lego Builder", Pete states, "it appears that this seal only has 32 stars".
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 The missing one should be at the point of the shield. Is there any marking there? Steve
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 Poetry by Edward Arlington Robinson Could we check out the EAR books? The Edward Arlington Robinson book is a very worn book of short poems. Appears that this book was read often. In looking at the index, the poems include: On The Night Of A Friend's Wedding, Miniver Cheevy, Llewellyn and the Tree, Richard Cory, Bewick Fenzer, The Mill, Mr. Flood's Party
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 See this and compare the differences. Some differences include: the bird is facing the wrong direction. The ships are in different places, and the little part of land on the left side is not there in the "real" version. What is going on here?!
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 I wonder if there is an island or something attached to this mansion? The ships are reversed too... Steve
The Middleman Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Not to mention, the 33rd star is missing. A mystery indeed.
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 I wonder if there is an island or something attached to this mansion?Steve There might be. The underground tunnel might lead somewhere. However, the gate inside the tunnel is currently locked...
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 The missing one should be at the point of the shield. Is there any marking there? You rush out of the library to look at the seal in the upper hall once again. At the bottom center of the shield, there is no star or mark on the mural.
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 So...is this a painting? If it is, there might be an artist's signature somewhere...
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 Pete adds, "I'm quite impressed with your keen detective skills. Maybe we're getting somewhere now".
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 So...is this painting? If it is, there might be an artist's signature somewhere... Yes, it is a painting, but no signature.
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Well the only word I can come up with is from those four letters is Kail. Its an archaic name for a kind of cabbage. And I also note that Pete hasn't ruled on "Alkali" being the wrong word the way he did with other words. Steve
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Lets scrape off the paint where the star should be? Or perhaps less drastically, can we take the painting off the wall? Steve
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Lets scrape off the paint where the star should be? Or perhaps less drastically, can we take the painting off the wall?Steve Good idea. the paint might be covering something confidential or the "real" mural for that matter...
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 This has got to be the most action this game has seen in weeks :D What kind of material is it painted on? Steve
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 This has got to be the most action this game has seen in weeks :DWhat kind of material is it painted on? Steve If it's a mural, then it's probably painted directly onto the wall. LOL! I was just thinking the same thing... |-D
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 The mural is painted on the smooth brick wall. As you scratch away the paint, you discover that underneath this section of wall is not brick, but wood. You begin scraping it to discover a small 2"x2" hollowed-out section of brick; and inside, a tarnished brass key.
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Excellent! Lets open that bedroom or maybe that locked gate. Steve
Mr. Lego-builder Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 Hooray! This is a time for celebration. Lets try the bedroom first, since we are closest to it as we currently stand.
Athos Posted August 25, 2005 Posted August 25, 2005 My thoughts precisely... I wonder what everyone else's character is doing now. Standing around in comas? Steve
WesternOutlaw Posted August 25, 2005 Author Posted August 25, 2005 The Brass Key You first try to use the key to unlock the bedroom. It does not fit the lock. You then decide to make your way back down to the subterranean passage to try to unlock the gate. Unfortunatley, it does not work. >:(
