Hello everyone, I have been looking for some inspiration and some advice for making the perfect SUV. I have been designing my own chassis but would like some advice for the axles and the bodywork as that is not my strong point.

Would you mind to share some pictures of your work? For sharing have a look at bricksafe.com, if you don't already have a hoster or an account there. That way it makes it easier to give advice. There is also a thread dedicated to axles. Here is the link.

I'd check the axle collection thread:

Thankyou, will post my progress as I go, if you want to see more of my progress on this topic please follow

Sure, I already have a bricksafe. Here is my Bricksafe Home-page link; Bricksafe HomePage  and a link to one of my suspension designs Suspension design 1 for supercar

I quite like the axle design. While the way they are connected to the chassis, raises the question: Is there anything to keep the axles centered?

Beside that, I'd recommend to move the shock absorbers closer to the axle, preferably right above the half axles to avoid the tilting effect when the suspension is compressed. Also worth to connect them close, or top of the wheelhubs, so the structure of your axle not involved in carrying the weight.

Thank you, for the advice, I will be posting heaps more designs soon and sharing LXF's and instructions for free. In the actual file, there are 2 beams that fold up when the suspension is in motion preventing the axle from moving side to side. I am adjusting it based on your advice, thanks Attika

I am getting confused with hog steering and gear wrack steering, this might sound like a dumb question but, does it really matter which one I choose?

HOG means "hand of god". It is simply a steering output outside of the body to enhance playability, regardless that you use gear rack, or not. Nothing to do with each other as a matter of choice.

Would be easier though, if you share the current state of the build.

A technical question. Are you building it digitally only, or you have a hard copy (plastic) on your desk?
