Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey 42113 Petition

Not sure whether this has been posted on this forum before, but here is a link to a Change.org petition for LEGO to reintroduce the V-22 Osprey set to its line after the recent controversy surrounding the nature of the product: http://chng.it/KHK9sbSbrY Thought I'd share this here. It's a bigger discussion in LEGO Technic but this might be pertinent to LEGO Military enthusiasts.

I saw this has been floating around instagram today. Kind of unfortunate as it looks like a decent kit. I'm not into technic personally, but I can still appreciate the work that goes into the design.

I cannot really see the point of the petition. It is essentially petitioning a company that doesn't make modern war toys to make a modern war toy because they made a modern war toy and was about to release it and an anti-war group protested that they were now making modern war toys and paying arms manufacturers royalties and reminded them that they say they do not make modern war toys and LEGO agreed and re-affirmed that they do not make modern war toys and that this is a modern war toy.

LEGO have also said that any that have already left the warehouse and are in the supply chain can be sold, but they will not replenish. So if you want one and see it, then buy it. They know what they have done goes against their policy but it is not so bad that they are going to go to the expense of recalling those already distributed.

You will however have to wait for another release of the dumb technic hub.

Sad they couldn't even take a moment to verify that before barfing something so incorrect. The only operators are the Japanese Defense Force, USAF, USMC and USN; just military. The list of potential operators is all military as well.

'Engineering marvel' with 12-hull losses and 42 fatalities (only two crashes were combat-zone)[1], "between 2008 and 2011 [alone], the V-22's estimated lifetime cost grew by 61 percent [2]", difficulty in brown outs, can't be escorted by fixed-wing or helicopters, melts aircraft carrier decks and on and on... Engineering blunder of an overpriced lead death brick is more like it.
