Hello,

Has 42108 been retired? From the US retailers, its seems difficult to find and usually at least 50% markup. On lego.us, its listed as out of stock, along with 42082, which must be getting put out to pasture by now.

It is almost impossible, that this could be already retired.

In Canada it only just hit official channels, it's listed for $139 CAD on LEGO's website, but is currently out of stock.

42108 is only 8 months old so it cannot be already retired.

42097 became unavailable in some countries after that amount of time. You can't get it in the UK any more. Maybe cranes aren't selling. Or maybe TLG is taking them off the market early so people will pay more for them on Bricklink...

I hardly think lego would be scalping 42108's on bricklink doesn't quite fit the play well motto.....however after a quick search in nz maybe three of the main players have stock.. and it's not something I have seen on runout yet...either..

Just checked and in stock in UK at Lego shops, Argos & Smyths Toys

It's also well available here in Finland. Usually Lego sets are available for 2 years before retiring and even after that until the retailer stock runs out.

Maybe the COVID-19 situation has affected availability in some countries but not others?

I found while living in the states, and maybe it was just me being a hick backcountry boy...that it is a huge shop at home culture (mail order catalog style ) as the brick and mortar shops held very little. Unless you travelled a great distance to a specialist shop. 

Currently sitting on a log skid being loaded. You can tell I'm bored...

Anyway after much direct searching the 42108 in the states seems to be only on Amazon or Walmart but very expensive.

They have several sets on the shelf at the LEGO store here in Indianapolis, I know that isn't much help to you but at least we know it is still out there. 

 

Funny because I actually considered picking a second set up just for parts, last week. 

I do not understand what's going on with Amazon.us!

Whenever I visit it, lots of sets are out of stock or overpriced as hell!

The biggest world online store can't supply Lego?

P.S.Bought 42108 a week ago for €62 on Amazon.de!

The shelves of all the big brick and mortar stores are also eerily devoid of LEGO sets too. You can really tell which sets are not selling well at all at least. Occasionally I see some new sets but in very limited amounts and they go quick.

Sets for the North American market come from the Mexico Factory, which has had a closure due to Covid.

US/Canada sets have different boxes (Piece count is mandatory), and different safety warnings,  so they can't just simply ship the rest of the sets to North America , also different size of paper for the manuals

Even LEGO.com publishes 2 different variants of it's online instructions V29 and V39

Thank you all for the replies, very much appreciated. I live in Trinidad, WI and am therefore usually limited to ordering via Amazon US. As one of you pointed out, it is available on amazon us but the price is a bit steep for me at this time. I'm waiting until it goes back to its MSRP before purchasing. Thank you all again, best wishes and be safe.

Maybe that is why I have been noticing a lot of re-branded boxes. They have a white label pasted on where the set number and name is. Apparently the label adds the piece count.
