It:s generally accepted that TLG sees the property as comparable to "CITY" or "TECHNIC" in its "evergreen" nature - as a fellow in my early twenties, I suspect that my children will be able to find new Ninjago kits on store shelves. Eh... not really. Unlike City or Technic, where they can just keep remaking the same sets over and over again, with Ninjago they need to do something new in each wave, which they can't keep doing forever. As for the "there is nothing to suggest otherwise" comment, keep in mind that Ninjago hasn't been on the list of top selling LEGO themes for at least two years now. I don't know about you, but to me that suggests a decline in the general popularity of the theme. Quote

Brick Clicker Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 (edited) I have heard from many people new Ninjago gardens is due to release on Feb 1st but that does not rule out a mid Jan release which is totally possible. Based on past D2Cs and the fact this set was in production a while back now a leak could happen very soon... Edited December 16, 2020 by Brick Clicker Quote
JintaiZ Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 After seeing the video review I think I like the Dragon set much better now. That said, I'm still not a fan of the wing technique and it would have took so little to make them better... Quote
a guy from somewhere Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Credit to Albricks studios for the information, (thanks man!) but the legacy ninjago sets are apparently available to buy on the kohl's app. I'm in the uk, so it's not much use, but if you're from the US, grab them while you can! I've no doubt that they will probably sell out fast. The review for the titan mech has been put up by bricksbymind, and I have to say, it's impressive. Its decently big, and has an amazing price. Lego really outdid themselves with it. Also, the back actually looks good as well. @Brick Clicker, im also hoping for that mid January release on the gardens, and maybe a January 1st if we're lucky, but unless they are seriously keeping this set under wraps, we should of gotten something by now. We've barely had any new information about it this month. Quote

Look at DC and Marvel they both haven't been on the top selling list several times yet they still keep cranking out sets. Ninjago is fine they won't end it soon. You could make the argument that Marvel and DC are still popular with kids but I think Ninjago is still popular with kids too. Quote

I don't know about you, but to me that suggests a decline in the general popularity of the theme. I don't know where you're getting the idea that there's some max limit on the number of ideas that can be explored in the Ninjago theme, or that they can't revisit older ideas like the City theme does. Heck, you could make a strong argument that that's exactly what the "Legacy" sub-brand is there to allow them to do. Ninjago used to have much larger waves of sets tied to each new season (with many seasons even getting a full year's worth of sets instead of a half-year in the early days)—since the introduction of the Legacy subtheme, many of those waves of sets tied to new story arcs have become tighter and more focused as "Legacy" sets have filled out more of the rest of the year's sets. Even before the introduction of the Legacy subtheme, Ninjago didn't show any qualms about revisiting older subjects like the Destiny's Bounty or Ultra Sonic Raider if Lego thought they could do something new with them. I won't go so far as to say that Ninjago won't someday end (it very well might) but if it does it will be because for one reason or another it's no longer sustaining kids' interest, not because the well of potential concepts (which is effectively limitless) has somehow run dry. I don't know about you, but to me that suggests a decline in the general popularity of the theme. I would be glad to elaborate on my thoughts on the versatility of the brand (specifically, in this particular case, the Ninjago brand, but really to a more generalized extent the TLG brand aegis as a rule), and I'll go into a little detail to build off of the points that @Lyichirbrought to the fore. The brand has historically been glad to re-use concept after concept in set design, just as BIONICLE did in the first decade of the millennium and what we retroactively term "classic space" and "classic castle" did in the last two decades prior. It's built for that, it's a brand that runs off of bold, swashbuckling mythological archetypes taking, frankly, pretty predictable actions show season after show season. It's important to remember that we as a "world" monoculture have been telling children stories about ninja and dragons and demons and djinn and incredible seafaring ships and what have you for 2000+ years. We're never going to stop that, and while TLG eventually will do that, it seems to me that their chosen "vehicle" for telling such stories is still going strong. The number of kits and degree to which LEGO® floods the airwaves with advertising for a theme are much more reliable long-term axioms on the success of a line then that "top five for the year" list, and Ninjago isn't toning those down. Terrasher Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 Promobricks says that the set is still ~5600 pieces, not 3500. I got scared by that May release teaser - but if that's just for retailers and the set is still scheduled for February directly from LEGO, we cool. Quote

a guy from somewhere Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 At least we have confirmation, and I think this confirms the February release from lego as well. My reasoning being that the original rumour was that it would be a jan first release exclusively at lego, then March first wide release. If the march first wide release has been shifted by 1 month, that would also mean that the January release would have moved to February. Could it have been delayed either my Covid or something else? Either way, I still have to wait an extra month. I've also seen some people saying that the temple complex in the picture is an illustrated version of the set. It does seem to line up with the outline from promo bricks. Are we allowed to post the picture as its from an official lego catalog? Quote

Promobricks said every floor would be a different colour 2. there is no tree growing on the front nor cherry tree on top 3. they are only joined together by a single bridge 4. the towers are the same height This temple complex is what I originally thought the gardens would be, however after learning that the outline is 1:1, it didn’t make sense.
