I think tha'ts what's supposed to be the plan in the "My City" line sets, to have some connectivity to the Road set. Sets under My City will be things like the Family House, Skate Park , City Center, hopefully with the main focus on the actual City and few to no vehicles. I don't mind vehicles at all ,but I like when vehicles and buildings are sold seperately, or kept small when it's meant to be a City Layout subtheme. Of course this doesn't include obvious vehicle playsets like construction sites, police/fire stations , bus stops, garages etc where vehicles are part of the experience. But a Skate Park would not need to include a car/truck, and a Family House maybe only a family car. Edited September 27, 2020 by TeriXeri Quote

TeriXeri Posted September 27, 2020 Posted September 27, 2020 (edited) Royal Carriage would make no sense, City has a king now? Unless it's some upcoming LEGO City Adventures episode character. I'd more expect a Castle-theme-inspired Creator 3-in-1 set. Cabin is also typical of 3-in-1, like tree and beach houses, they are reccuring subjects, but of course could be a winter-ski cabin as well, who knows. So far not going to expect it to be real. I hope its a double haul! I certainly wonder what hull it would use, but the timing seems right, as there has been a Police Boat in 2006 2011 2016. I'd imagine this time they use a darkblue hull version of the 2016 boat size (12x40x5) , which only has appeared once, but still is the most recent one , and without a secondary criminal boat , the price could still work. Maybe the criminals have a boat with the hideout. Edited September 27, 2020 by TeriXeri Quote

I think the one coming up is about the same size as the one in the picture. But who cares? I'm still excited to see a darn proper sized police boat. Edited September 28, 2020 by Brandon Pea Quote

Question remains if they'll use the 2016 (40x12) hull , a new one, or the older 2006/2011 size (51x14),or the medium sized Diving Yacht/Race Boat (28x8) stud hull. The 51x14x6 was last used with Coast Guard 2017 The 40x12x5 was only used once with the 2016 Police Boat, but seems to fit the budget better. A set with 2 smaller boats doesn't make much sense since one just came out with the Elite Police, and this set name suggests a set like seen in 2006-2011-2016. I do think the 2016 Boat Hull is also more the size for the budget. 40x12 is obviously smaller then 51x14 studs , but the 2016 boat came with the 22x10 "Rubber" boat as well, which likely is why is was priced higher. I'm still beating myself over the head that I didn't get it when it was in stores. It's now hard to find an unopened box for a decent price now. Quote

Sets under My City will be things like the Family House, Skate Park , City Center, hopefully with the main focus on the actual City and few to no vehicles. From these set names, I get the sense that "My City" is effectively a rebrand/refresh of the subtheme previously known as Town. That subtheme covered quite a bit of similar "everyday" type subject matter, including various town/city square sets, transit center/bus station sets, and even the City theme's only previous "family house" set, 8403. However, adding road segments will certainly help unify that subtheme in a more obvious way, so that it doesn't feel so much like just a catch-all for stuff that doesn't fit in other subthemes. I can definitely imagine a lot of ways that other subthemes could also manage to tie together with this new road system, even if it's not actual road segments. I'm thinking of stuff like fire hydrants in future fire engine sets, driveways in future police station/fire station/hospital sets, traffic cameras/speed limit signs in new police chase sets, bridges in new construction sets, level crossings in new train sets, etc. The new road system being plate-based really opens it up a lot to that type of stuff, since scenery in City sets tends to be built with plates and tiles anyhow. It wouldn't take a whole lot to make sure that those plates and tiles link up neatly with the new roads without needing any extensive modding. Quote
toopizza13 Posted September 30, 2020 Posted September 30, 2020 im guessing the road baseplates wont come in every set, like 60276 probably wont have one, but i could see 60278 having one, perhaps even 60282, but the picture doesnt look like it includes one. Quote

It could be interesting, 3-in-1 has had sidewalks for a while in the 2014-2017, and also 2019-2020. After the 2017 City accesoires set, in 2018 Xtra added expandability with traffic lights, mailboxes, street lanterns and such that could fit on them. Town used to have expansion packs for trees/fences, the main thing I feel is missing a bit are traffic signs , even if they provide blank signs with a sticker sheet. (xtra has stickers but no easy accesible traffic sign parts). So far, these new roads look promising for smaller City / 3-in-1 scale layouts, or displays like shelves, where baseplates are a bit bulky, even tho it might be pricey to get a decent length of roads. To me, it feels like Lego has done away with subthemes. I don't speak for anyone else, but I think that's a good system to have. The police and fire sets are mixed right in there with the other sets and there doesn't seem to be a headquarters for police - them having a crooks hideout set instead. Good move, Lego! The one I'm looking at is ironically, the police prisoner transport. Wouldn't it be an awesome plot twist for it to be a small prison bus instead of a van? That skate park, city center and family home are sets I'm looking forward to as well. They should release great vehicles in winter and summer. That way we can see more. I am disappointed though. I was kinda hoping to see a standalone city bus for the great vehicles lineup. A bendy bus perhaps. Edited September 30, 2020 by Brandon Pea Quote
