That's probably because they want to make sure that enough emphasis is on the vehicles so that the set itself would sell. Edited November 25, 2020 by Brandon Pea Quote

You all know its aimed at kids, yet you all complaining like its designed for adults, with adult tiered complaints because they're not scaled well or the designs are looking more simple. If you expect better detail, moc your own ffs. City always will be aimed at kids, and thus adult tiered complaints are absolutely and entirely irrelevant. I'm on this website to talk to other adult fans about Lego. I'm not going to stop myself from criticizing something because it's designed for kids because I don't care about seeing it from a kids perspective. Those under 18 aren't even allowed on this board in the first place, so if you're upset about seeing adult tiered complains, then you're on the wrong forum. Quote

I'm not going to stop myself pointing out other people complaining about something that is entirely irrelevant to their adult view because it isn't marketed for them when their complaints are based on expecting scaled replicas of vehicles in the city line. The fact those under 18 aren't allowed here is a moot point. People can quite easily offer opinions with a mindset of bearing in mind it's a kids toy, but so many peoople are completely ignoring that *fact* now. Likewise, if you don't like seeing someone point out this flawed logic, then you're also on the wrong forum. 40 minutes ago, Brandon Pea said: Give credit where credit is due. Nothing to fear here. Simply speaking the truth. There are a lot worse things in the world to be fearful of. Getting banned from a Lego forum is below the bottom of the list. If you are offended by my words... I'd recommend taking a break from the internet... And this is also getting off topic. Anything else to add, pm me instead. paul_delahaye Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 So I'm looking at the great vehicles this year and most are good, but I'm looking at the Truck Transporting the Jet plane, and it looks <insert that tiresome argument>. The past ones have always been good, the harvester transporter of previous years, but this one just looks basic. The truck has little shape on the cab, and the trailer can't even steer, it can only go in a straight line? Why put fixed wheels at the front? I'm not sure what they were thinking on this one. Quote

ks6349 Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 (edited) When is the best time to buy new City sets? I am always sensitive to price because I am always patient enough, I don't need to get one thing I like immediately. However, looks like I always cannot catch the best time to buy a City set. When I think the price is very good and get it, then it could still drop a lot more afterwards... What is your opinion? Edited November 26, 2020 by ks6349 Quote

I usually turn to places like eBay as I tend to see a lot of good prices there. I also tend to see the part I need the most on eBay, which I I actually admire about eBay sales people. There is always the possibility of getting something at a lower price than the price you paid for said something. If you did your homework, which means you compared prices of local and online retailers, factored in shipping, you know what bargains certain retailers may give regularly and you bought at the price you expected, then don't mope about it if it eventually gets cheaper. You bought it at the price you thought it was worth. Most of the time stuff doesn't go under certain price limits, unless it goes on clearance. If you didn't do your homework, well that's on you, there are people who order from lego on release day and then bitch about the price when they see it 20, 25, 30% off in shops as if that was a surprise to anyone. I'm certainly not the kind of people who didn't do homework, on the contrary, I keep checking the price of my favorite sets almost every day and keep doing a lot of homework, but it is still so hard to get the best deal. Why Amazon or other providers do not like to put the City Mail Plane on deals? I almost never see it on special sales. Quote

As far as I know, 60250 was only released for special retailers in the US, in Europe I haven't seen it anywhere else but the LEGO shop at the 9,99€ price. (some retailers buy it at LEGO and sell it for about 15€ or even more) and I don't know about Asia. So there is not that much need to discount because availability is limited. Quote

meliander Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 The new road system looks good, but the thing I don't understand is why not make it compatible with baseplates? From what I understand the roads are exactly 2 plates now (instead of 1.5), so you can't connect the roads to simple green/gray baseplates... Also, I only have 4 old road plates, but I can imagine the pain of those people who are in the middle of building a city with the old ones. Quote

Those pieces already exist. I have one, so decided to make a quick picture: The height of the baseplate is slightly smaller. Edit: I assume the height of a baseplate is the same as that of a roadplate. I cannot verify that since I do not have any roadplates. Edited December 1, 2020 by Lira_Bricks Added remark of baseplates maybe not being the same height as roadplates Quote
fo4saken Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 Actually, taking slope (as sample) from 60198 and old roadplate, it looks pretty good Quote

Like I said before, I'm completely aware that city theme is targeted towards young kids. My issue is drastic simplification of sets, both city and creator for no obvious reason. And I can't just stand here, clap my hands and say good job lego while my favourite themes are getting destroyed and turned in to Duplo-ish type of sets. I just saw the new X-wing, and I dare anybody here to convince me that we are not witnessing major simplification and dumbing down of lego sets throughout themes. Quote
