What is interesting is that last year had Stunt Team / Monster Truck small sets, and this year has Stuntz, so sometimes sets of previous year carry over to next (also has been with the ski rescue copter/snow groomer/ski resort before)

Safari Truck also carried over to Wildlife Rescue theme.

Tractor might or might not be a prelude, only know until we see it.

 

 What kind of medical subtheme exactly, I wonder. Animal or human? I just took a quick glance at a list of Freinds sets that was released this year and I can see “Clinical” or “Vet” words in set names. It may be likely to have a vet subtheme for City.

In 2019, Friends had ocean subtheme and last year, City had ocean exploration. In 2020, Friends has jungle rescue subtheme and now City will have wildlife rescue subtheme this year. 

Also, I see Freinds has some new forest-themed sets this year. I’m not sure if it may be likely to have forest subtheme next year?

you had a great observation, to be honest! I like the way you think. I didn’t realize that we have Stunt Team / Monster Trcuk last year and now we have Stunz subtheme!

I’m not sure about tractor set leading us to a farm subtheme next year either. I mean lego animals are sure popular but we do know nothing about subthemes next year at the moment. This may be my terrible guess but i think Holiday Camper set may lead us to forest subtheme. Like bear cub, fox, fawn, beaver, etc. Just my speculation. :)

True, I think something construction is perhaps more likely, based on the new tractor bucket size, but sets like Halloween Hayride and Tractor including Hay Bales, with no animals to eat them strikes me a bit odd as well.

Might not be a full on farm theme, but the return of the Cow Horn in 2021, the abundance of Friends horses in 2021 (new mould, 5 horse sets), sheep and horse in the Disney set , a new hay bale grille piece and beside Great vehicles/Police/Fire, overall more location focused design, gives me some optimism, even if it might not mean anything at all.

We are now in a unique position with so many available animal moulds, that trying to predict how and when they might get reused is a nightmare! Could be ocean critters in a coastguard or marine rescue theme, domestic animals in a farm or vet theme, forest animals in an outdoors theme, exotic animals in a zoo theme... and that’s just thinking about City type sets. If we expand it to adventure or historical there are even more options!

Exactly! It’s really hard to predict what kind of subtheme for City next year. Forest? Zoo? Desert (American desert that has armadillo, desert hare, rattlesnake), Indian jungle, vet, etc. Oh my gosh...so many predictions to make.

Speaking of adventure theme, we may have some Indiana Jones sets that would have animals like camel, horse, snake, etc.

For me, I'd hope its a motorized accordion (bendy bus). I drive one of those and at school career day fairs, kids love going for rides my bus. Or at least they did - before Covid hit. Oh how I miss those days. So I'm sure it would be a hit with kids as a great vehicle. If not a motorized accordion, perhaps a school bus. I used to drive one of those before I drove the accordion. That's when I was a rookie bus driver back in 2015. City has never had a school bus. There was one with Friends and Hidden Side.

I hope its a regular medical subtheme like the one from 2006. We kinda have an animal medical subtheme coming this year with Animal Rescue.

True but i would love to see city’s clinical vets after wildlife rescu subtheme. 

And yes, I would love to see hospital subtheme,such as ambulance, small clinic, ambulance helicopter, main hospital, etc.

An animal clinic would be nice. I think they should done by the same company that owns the Wildlife Rescue vehicles.

I hope we get a City Raccoon piece, we now have a Friends Raccoon but I really want a City style Raccoon to go with my other animals. My favourite animal is the Raccoon if you couldn’t already tell.

YAY! Mine favorite mould is the Tiger mould from the Jungle Exploration subtheme. I've been trying to obtain that mould, but they want almost $60 for that thing on Ebay. No Sir!

I have been wondering about Freinds’ forest-related sets. It may be possible for us to get some forest subtheme next year but who knows. 

Anyways, that’s AWESOME that raccoon is your favorite animal! Mine are lion and kangaroo. My manned lion is on the way. I am hoping for a kangaroo mold one day.

Thank you! Hey that’s a great idea, I think an outback sub theme for city would work well, it’s different to a safari subtheme and could introduce a few new iconic Australian animals.

Since we're practically making a wish list, I'd like to see a mould of a walking bird e.g. stork. It could also be repainted and reused to represent a crane or heron, so it could fit into North American, European, African and Asian settings.

Regarding City and missing animal moulds, to me the pigeon really stands out and I feel they are missing from my modular street as well
Well we got the sheep now so maybe the pigeon is next in line

If we’re talking about essential animals, then I think Pigeon (like @Roebuck stated) as well as the Giraffe (like @jonwil stated), it’s iconic and it’s already in Duplo.

1.) Gorilla

2.) Kangaroo

3.) Rhino

4.) Giraffe

My top 5 animal wishes for regular CMF series:

1.) Fox

2.) Bear cub

3.) Raccoon

4.) Koala 

5.) Beaver

Now, we do have a dove mold from Disney Series 2. I think dove is closely related to pigeon, so it may be recolored for City sets. 

I apologize for off-topic. I mean CMF series has nothing to do with City, tho there are so many City-based minifigures (like Resuce Diver with sea turtle).

I would really like to see a recolour of the sheep with light tan face and legs rather than black, as they are much more common here in that colour, and a black or brown sheep would be a nice and possible variation

I would say it is relevant as as you said there are many town related figures and this forum seems more about ‘real life’ than specifically city

Whereas here in Scotland the blackfaced sheep is ideal ;) 

given that the sheep mould is dual moulded, I assume we will get only two coloured sheep going forward. So it’s worth looking at how they do this already in Duplo - where the dual moulded sheep already came in dark brown and white, dark blue-grey and white, and light blue grey and white. I do think the city mould would also work well with other colours, such as white face and legs and tan body, or black face and legs and brown body. To do a black sheep though? would they even do two colours exactly the same on a dual moulded animal?

Agreed. Standard CMFs are very city-heavy these days, and a big originator of new animal moulds. 🐧🐭🦞🦨🐇🐈🐕🦩🐍🐢🐀🦀

I am sorry - I should be more clearer. English lanauge is not really my primary lanauge. I mean there are some random minfigures in regular CMFS, such as alien, centaur, elf, monster, etc etc... they have nothing to do with City theme. Sorry for misunderstanding.

No need to apologise at all, I understood what you meant, sorry if I came across as criticising your English (which seems pretty much perfect to me), I was just saying that discussing relevant CMFS seems perfectly acceptable

Has anyone noticed that LEGO has reated new motorcycle fairings/bodyworks for all the pushforward stunt bikes? They haven't used any of the old molds, they have all been updated in some way even 31582 has been updated. I wonder if it was by choice or if none of the old molds would work with the new motor pieces.
