Pyerce Attacks!

In a bid to establish a new Imperial control whilst the remnant are decimated at Jakku, Pyerce forms blockades over several key planets.

In a bid to secure agricultural wealth, Pyerce’s fleet surrounds the planet Uyter as he launches a ground attack to seize control of the supply chain.

Close to Clan Eldar’s current fleet, they rally to Uyter’s defense to put a stop to Pyerce’s grasp for power.

As the battle wages in the skies over Uyter, several small ships led by the Abiik A’den descend to the planet to put a stop to the invasion…

-

We weren’t expecting this attack, it doesn’t mean we weren’t ready for this. In a delicately planned attack, from nowhere Pyerce has seemingly rallied several imperial ships to his cause in a grasp for power. Through our agents, we had contacts on the ground on Uyter arranging trade agreements for Clan Eldar for the rich agricultural food stuffs available. As the familiar shadows of Star Destroyers began moving across the surface of Uyter we received communication asking for help. On arrival, as our capital ships engaged the Pyerce fleet, the distraction allowed for us to make a break for the surface.

Making landfall, we headed for the hills where we had detected Pyerce’s forces and engaged the ground troops. As we reached the farming terraces we were met with the report of blaster fire and screams.

Engaging the enemy we moved through the valleys seeing the farmers to safety whilst forcing the Imperial troops back to higher ground and the landing platforms. Realising the Mandalorians were fighting for the farmers, many took arms and helped push back the Imperial forces.

Eventually, as light began to fade, we met a last resistance of Pyerce’s ground forces clustered around the top of one of the low lying mountain tops. As these troops retreated towards the landing platform a boom erupted across the sky.

Above our heads, a Star Destroyer erupted in flame and debris and in this moment - the energy of the Imperial invasion faltered and we seized our opportunity to liberate Uyter, Victory was ours!

As the Star Destroyer, held in Uyters orbit, continued to burn we saw that whilst the ground battle was over - the battle above our heads raged on and we headed for our ships to support our brothers and sisters for the battle of the sky...

Spoiler

Making of:

For judging:

Factions Cat A, Mandalorian defence.

A 32x32 dimension build (Just! The helmet-less Torak Staans' head just leans over), there is no identifying features to any of Pyerce's fleet here as there is clear definition between Pyerce's forces and the Mandalorian forces.

Overall, I was pretty pleased with this build and enjoy the final piece. The idea for terraces came early and I tried to incorporate this early into the build with different crop on the varied levels.

The terraces allowed for the action to be seen both across a varied height and allowed for variety as the terrain changes with the foodstuff grown as i didn’t want a plain 32x32 baseplate flat battle. Crafting the rocky cliff on one side allowed for some nice detailing which i tried to juxtapose with a more fertile right hand side of the build with a stair well cutting through both sides.

I’m hoping that the idea of an old and well-used agricultural landscape comes through!

This allows you to see the fleeing farmers and some food stuffs ready for shipping, and of course - it wouldn't be Star Wars without at least one droid so best make it the best of the bunch - Gonk!

Finally, I hope you enjoy the Stormtrooper falling victim to the water reservoir - I intended this to be something of an Easter Egg to the Stormtrooper’s enjoying baths in the Lego Video Games!

Using a black cheese tile allowed for the stormtrooper to have more dynamic posing whilst looking like the bodysuit under his armour.

And a Teal nod @Lamborghini Waffle Sauce

The action continues as Pyerce forces flee the surface:

I'm really enjoying this, Ben. You've got a lot going on in such a small space. There are a few little details I really love. The Underminer Ugnaut is great, the plants work really well, and that flametrooper is a good choice of bad guy. Well done!

Really great build, to second Ross' point, the Ugnaught looks so good - great choice of parts!

Thanks!, The Underminer lends himself so well to an Ugnaught, I'm pleased i outfitted him with a stormtrooper belt and blaster as it's a nice little nod to the Ewoks doing similar on Endor!

Pyro/flametroopers have been a favourite since they made an appearance in The Force Unleashed.

In this build, I wanted it to look great as a whole but with several vignette stories being told too such as the aerial gun fight, the rallying Ugnaught and the fate of the bathing Stormtrooper

Really good work. I love that there’s so much going in this build - makes it really feel like there’s a battle happening. Nice work on the rock formation too.

Thank you @Tariq j
For the ground assault I wanted to try and display the frantic nature of battle by having action across all levels of the build from fleeing farm hands being covered by Mando's on the ground to the seperate skirmishes across the terraces (and above it)
I also wanted to portray this as part of a greater story which is why I added detail in the skies overhead which nods to the later category entries.

Very chaotic! In one sense the action is good. But the build itself is too chaotic. Maybe work on color blocking a little more and try for fewer exposed studs.

Thanks for the comments @MKJoshA

I was actually trying to depict the chaos of battle which is why there isn't a clear battle line so I guess that definitely came across then,

I'll take the note on colour blocking on board and the exposed studs into my next builds - it's a fine balance, some people love to see the studs whilst others don't but certainly on the top platform I should have covered these up as they're more prominent as you rise up the terraces
