After the moves from Moff Pyerce Faction into several sectors, the Black Sun Faction is reorganising its forces to avoid the blockade of Bonadan.

The Bonadan planet is well known for its mining activities. Pyerce forces have taken a key position in one of the mines inside one of the many craters of Bonadan to place a shield generator to protect its blockade fleet.

The shield generator is believed to be well protected so the move has to be planned with care. Pyerce forces didn’t get too much opposition at Bonadan. Only a sudden surprise attack would give the Black Sun a chance to get that position.

The objective is prepare a quick ambush to take over the shield generator. This generator must be taken intact so it could be used then to protect the Black Sun fleet instead to counterattack Pyerce’s blockade fleet.

Fahne’s team has been assigned to that mission in conjunction with the special forces group leaded by Gashk, a fearsome Trandoshan. Now it’s time to see if the plan works...

Gashk: The game starts! We have just a few seconds to sort out this thing. Fahne, watch out those Death troopers!

Fahne: That wasn’t expected. I’ll deal with them, cover me!

Sometime before...

media?size=l

Commandant: What about the exploration of the caves?

Death trooper sergeant: There are too many. We’ve found some resistance in there. These crystal mines are impressively large.

Commandant: These crystals have many technological usages.  It will be an important funding source for our forces.

Death trooper sergeant: Some scouts are still patrolling but I don’t think we have any serious opposition here.

Shield operator: The readings of the shield energy field are good, everything is working fine.

Commandant: Perfect! Now the fleet is protected.

media?size=l

Groodun: We have flown undetected. The dropship shields cover some fire being so close to the ground. This is a small advantage we must rely on. Hurry up!

media?size=l

Gashk: These crystals seem strong enough. I’m covering you... Jump now!

media?size=l

Fahne: One less!

Gashk: Great, Fahne! This door isn’t easy to defeat.

media?size=l

Minsk: Groodun, cannot jump with this fire... Move on a bit and leave me out of the crater.

media?size=l

The success of the ambush is uncertain... Definitely not an easy task.

media?size=l

Fahne: Next one! This one wasn’t easy neither.

media?size=l

Gashk: At last! Mmmm... we have a prisoner here, Fahne. I guess you’ve thought twice this time.

Technician: You had dumb luck. It won’t happen next time.

Gashk: Jeh, jeh, we’ll see that soon, for sure.

Brenda: I see no big shots down here.

media?size=l

Gashk: The position is now secure, at least for a while. Brenda, how is everything? We have to contact the fleet.

Brenda: Wait a bit, it isn’t trivial to check this. Ok, the generator is working fine here. Let’s see on top...

media?size=l

Brenda: ...and the shield generator antenna is... in perfect condition. Job done!

media?size=l

Groodun: Fleet contacted. More forces are landing to protect this position.

Fahne: Gashk, wait for the reinforcements. We have to go.

Gashk: We’ll give a surprise to Pyerce's fleet when changing the protecting target. See you then!

Spoiler

So that's the entry. Hope you like it.

Most of the build is shown in the pictures. I tried to recreate a mine in a crater with caves and big crystals, casting the shadows at an angle from the sun. The yellow/tan color seems characteristic of parts of the planet.

Here are the unedited ones plus some additional comments on the build.

Spoiler

The main photo. The dark bluish gray in the terrain and darker tones suggest the shadows coming from the exterior surface.

The black at the back suggest the caves. The shadows also cast the crystals hence darker. The lateral is open for my children to play with :classic:.

This photo has to be taken without the roof to fit better in the storyline.

This is a detail of the shield generator tower. Shield energy comes from the bottom up to the anntenna.

And this is the antenna device. It can rotate left and right and tilt up and down to follow the protected fleet.

The TIE variant is, I believe, a new one, but I could be wrong. It's based on a TIE Bomber design but with just one cockpit. I think it works very well and fits within any battle scene like an helicopter. I have called it TIE DS, for TIE Dropship. It carries 1 pilot and four soldiers in Lego form plus some weaponry space.

Some front views. The lasers are operational and the mechanism is similar to that of Vader's TIE Advanced, operated from the top with a Technic piece.

media?size=l

This is from the back with the door closed.

media?size=l

And this one with the door opened.

These are the wings details. The ship holds on its wings.

This is from the top, without the roof, it has some studs to secure the minifigs and others to put the strings for the troops in action.

These are some cockpit details. There is a window to see the troops behind the pilot.

Now fully loaded, ready for action!

Really like the tie variant and the mine is nice too. Not sure about the black plates behind the mine though, they create some sense of depth but the reflection off them kind of ruins the effect. Perhaps a staggered black wall would solve this? It is a great build overall though, really like the dropship doors!

Nice build for Bonadan here, The shield generator tower works well and impressive detailing through the towers interior!
A nice touch to add the black plates to add the depths of the cave system too

Neat build. There's a lot of good details here. The bird's-eye view with the dropship took me a long time to figure out, but it's clear you had a lot of fun putting this together.

Thanks! Making an action scene in Lego isn't always easy, but I felt that Cat A would be a good candidate for that kind of build.
